“Stand on the correct side of history”……and the reality and the world wishing they would….

2 systems, 1 country. We will leave Hong Kong govt alone for 50 yrs.
China should start following international law. 12nm borders and EEZ matter - for China AND for all the neighboring countries. China has built a number of cities on borders with southern neighbors and as those cities expand, they effectively take land from other countries.
Funny how China's foreign statements don't align with internal statements. Inside China, they blame everyone outside China, especially Japan and the US for everything. The CCP propaganda has worked for all the world to see as Japanese travelers and children are attacked inside China.
Around the world, we see CCP overreach attempting to control everyone. Chinese agents attack, hassle and threaten citizens of other countries who are using their right of free speech in the country to convey knowledge.
In short, China doesn't accept any criticisms, internally or externally, especially from people who appear to be of Chinese background. It isn't a good look.

I looked for indications of "trade woes" in the body of the article and found none unless you include the part about Trump starting a trade war.
Meanwhile CEOs from Apple, Qualcomm, AMD, MasterCard, Pfizer and many other leading global companies attended the forum. While the US market is closing off access, China is ready to do business.

If it is in their interest to do so.

According to Wikipedia what? SCMP is a fine newspaper. Also, did you fail to see Morgan Stanley and OECD mentioned? Get a grip with your anti-China bias.

china has what the rest of the world doesn’t, a sophisticated and robust supply chain. they’ve been working on it for a long time.
byd is bigger than gm, ford and vw combined, and growing. scale means a lot. it manufactures more industrial equipment than japan, u.s. and germany combined.
a new dark cell phone factory will produce a phone every 30 seconds. dark means no lights because there are no people assembling anything. ai, specialized machinery and consistent supply chain of materials.
another company will fabricate houses in 6 hours, customized to the local building codes and shipped to the u.s. for rapid assembly, matching the size and design characteristics of the locality. and the price point will be $150k - $200k to meet the market need for lower cost housing in the u.s.
people fail to understand how fast advancement is and how sophisticated engineering is in china.
that should be a wake up call for the u.s., but i trust it will not be. too busy yelling at each other about stupid politics.

Democracy is messy, but the alternative leads you to hell. At least people can voice their opinions without fear of getting a knock on the door in the middle of the night.
Thats gunna be fun when it’s fully mechanized!
