Mr Kipling
I wonder what the man from Del Monte has to say about this.

Not to mention the ground roots movement across the globe refusing to buy US products.

Some good news for once. What an exploitative, dishonest and corrupt company. Nestle and Coca Cola need to be next on that list to go.

Tinned fruit is good for your emergency disaster survival kit.

We stopped buying canned fruit because of the sugar content, and now buy frozen fruits we eat for breakfast with Greek-style yoghurt.
The company did not move with the changing times.

This is surprising. Canned fruit is better than no fruit, and with supply chains being cut on environmental or biosecurity grounds, agricultural labour shortages and costs hiked by governments, fresh fruit may be harder to obtain in the future. In a disaster, this stuff is essential, because it lasts for ages without needing power to keep it frozen. It doesn't even use any of the world-ending demon plastic. I'm surprised it isn't making a come back. Decent fruit has been in short supply in the UK lately and I suggested getting tinned fruit instead to a family member the other week.

Not in the case of the Del Monte concoctions it isn't.

Are you boycotting them, too?

Many canned foods are lined with plastic, typically an epoxy resin, to protect the food from the metal can and prevent corrosion. This lining also helps to maintain the food's flavor and quality. Eden Foods is a brand that uses plant-based resin instead of plastic linings in its cans.
Del Monte canned foods are typically lined with plastic, but the company has been transitioning to BPA-free linings. While the alternative linings are made with polyester or vinyl, they comply with safety standards set by the FDA and EFSA, and they do not contain phthalates or BPA, according to Del Monte's FAQ page.

Anyone remember the old advert “ the man from Del Monte, he says yes”?

Yes.

Funny, shelves of Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Co-op, Waitrose and Lidl, all fully stocked, no shortage of supply in evidence, no screaming headlines of fruit not being available, no evidence or reports of shortage? Tell me what sort of mushrooms have you been eating recently?
