39-year-old woman arrested over attempted murder of young daughter

Police in Yanai City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, have arrested a 39-year-old unemployed woman on suspicion of attempting to kill her elementary school-aged daughter by strangling her.

Police said Megumi Tanaka strangled her daughter at around 10:45 a.m. on Saturday at their home, NHK reported. However, she stopped and called 119.

Police said the daughter suffered minor injuries to her neck, but her life is not in danger.

Police said Tanaka has given no motive for attacking her daughter and quoted her as saying, "I didn't really mean to kill her."

Tanaka lives with seven people, including her husband and five children, and the police are questioning other members of the family about the incident.

Sounds like the woman needed a break. Her call to 119 was a cry for help.

She’s no doubt in charge of 8 people’s meals, and general care of household, yet this “minion of propaganda” has the cheek to label her as “unemployed”.

When did this disrespectful shift denigrating

housewives to unemployed, truly take hold, around the time when they were prodded to work outside instead, and pay taxes?

Why are there less children in Japan?

THIS is your answer.

Unemployed? She sounds very much employed, being a caretaker to seven people.

Well said, fellas. Being a housewife and mother is a 24 hour job, no drinks with the guys after work or golf at the weekend for them. It's about time Japanese men understood this fact. Their clothes don't wash themselves, their meals need cooking and their kids need the discipline they aren't there to give.

I heartily agree with all of you. This denigrating of women must stop.

Unemployed and living in a rabbit cage with 7 people makes people do strange things.

and who would her boss be?

Unfortunately, everyone would be her boss, and none of them appear benevolent.

Absolutely 100%. That being said, nobody forced her to pop out five kids and if the stress is leading to physical abuse, she and her husband should've stopped after having the first or second...

The daughter's life is in danger living in that environment.

mother may be going insane taking care of 5 kids and a Husband.

and who would her boss be?

that would be the unnamed EIGHTH person, probably the husband's elderly mother...

seniority rules!!

Taking care of 7 people sounds like a full-time job. You are not looking at a childless young couple here.
