Police in Moriguchi City, Osaka Prefecture, have arrested a 59-year-old unemployed man on suspicion of posting upskirt images of foreign tourists at Nara Park and then posting them on his YouTube channel.

According to police, Morio Okamoto is accused of filming a foreign woman's underwear from the front with his smartphone as she squatted while feeding a deer on Saturday, Kyodo News reported.

A witness who thought his behavior was suspicious called 110.

Police said Okamoto has been charged with violating the prefectural nuisance prevention ordinance. They said he has admitted to the allegation and quoted him as saying, “When I post videos of women’s underwear on my YouTube channel, the number of views goes up and my income increases."

According to police, there has been a recent increase in the posting of such videos of foreign women feeding deer.

A twisted and sick individual who violated the privacy of these poor women. The police need to get a warrant to get the viewers ID’s from YouTube. No doubt amongst them are Japanese people who indulge in this vile hobby. We need these fiends off the streets to protect the innocent.

In the U.K. the government is considering chemical castration for the sex offenders, something Japan should also consider.

This guy and YouTube both should be held accountable. The lady can sue both of them.

I guess the entrepreneural spirit is alive and well in Japan — where the unemployed apparently have growing YouTube channels!

There are heaps of these kinds of videos and shorts on YouTube and other platforms of this happening in Nara. Not just in Nara and not just foreign women. Japanese women and foreign children get plenty of attention too from perverts and freaks.

The European Convention on Human Rights, which the UK is still signed up to (and drafted in the first place) would never allow it. Never mind that is doesn't really work very well anyway.

Bingo. Most of the people doing this are not pervs themselves. They're just greedy profiteers who commit sexual misconduct to make money from the actual pervs.

Interesting that he was arrested for posting the images. Will charges for taking the images be coming later?

It doesn't matter the nationality, it is plain old wrong, and the man should be punished to the full extent of the law for such crimes. I will say, though, that if police have noticed an uptick of such videos on YouTube, I sure hope they are finding the people posting them easily enough and there is also an uptick in arrests until the uptick in videos becomes a downtick or they disappear altogether.

Chemical castration for upskirts? Seriously? For rapists and child sex offenders maybe but what you're suggesting is a bit excessive, don't you think?

On YOUTUBE?! And I was eagerly searching for such videos, to satisfy my itch, on more.. ahemm... speciality sites. Anyone has a link? ;)

Seriously though - the fact that there are people actively trying to see others' underwear is a dumbfounding.. What's so interesting about it?

The only solution is very natural : an educated man reminds the entrepreneurial spirited man that there are bounds to everyday decency.

At the same time, most men would check kinky videos suggested on the spot when browsing.

Also everyone needs to remember that what can be seen with a camera can most of the time be seen with eyes;)

Well, how on earth is an aging Japanese man going to make income?

I say make it legal!

I would like to see the video of him getting caught ;)

This creep needs to go away for a long time.

It's a mad world. What a weird thing to be into. I think the thrill of the danger of being caught must be more exciting than the actual result. An acquaintence of mine when I was a student regularly stole cutlery from restaurants for the thrill of it, but then got nothing but a load of old spoons.

I was scrolling through Instagram and found what I thought was a wholesome Nara deer page. Tourists feeding deer, gentle bows — all very charming. But then the camera angle shifted, and it became clear the focus wasn’t on the deer anymore. What started as cute turned... concerning. When voyeurism hides behind antlers and snacks, something’s gone very wrong. A dear cost to pay for clicks.

He probably thought he could get away with it because the victims were foreigners and the police wouldn't care.
