It's difficult to grasp the present undercurrent of xenophobia in China, due in part to heavy censorship of posts on social networks. One thing for sure: YouTube is full of third-rate film melodramas featuring the Eighth Route Army and its war of resistance against Japan, predictably showing heroic Chinese guerrillas pulling off impossible feats to thwart the cruel and cunning Japanese invaders. Ironically, if the films had been based on actual events, the Japanese atrocities would have been far nastier. This leads one to wonder why they are toned down to the extent that they are. What goes through the minds of the government overseers when they approve the film scripts. Do they gauge intended viewer outrage on a scale of 1 to 10, and tweak the action accordingly?

The killing of the 10-year-old pupil, whose father is Japanese and mother is Chinese

So he’s technically not a Japanese.

So he’s technically not a Japanese.

He carried a Japanese passport! How "technical" can you get?

Really, there's just a few words to say to EVERY Japanese citizen still remaining in China.

Get. Out. Now.

There is a reason Japanese men are becoming passport bros and Japan does not want to admit why it is part of the rapid population decline. I still remember the article where a young Japanese woman says she doesn't date men who wear Uniglo on the first date.

The Japanese men are going to Korea, China, Thailand and Vietnam and no one wants to face the situation.

Like those countries are doing any better

His nationality is irrelevant. The incident occurred in China, and so it is dealt with under Chinese jurisdiction.

If his parents are Japanese and Chinese, then he has both nationalities.

And in this case too, the Chinese government has been unable to catch the perpetrator or uncover the motive.

Incorrect. The killer was arrested at the scene.

China was able to catch the culprit!?

Is it really the culprit? Is it not a scapegoat for Communist Party members?

And has his motive for the crime been revealed?

Can you expand on this sage advice?

Really, there's just a few words to say to EVERY Japanese citizen still remaining in China.
