Firefighter dismissed for groping woman on bus; his third such offense

The Tokyo Fire Department on Monday dismissed a 21-year-old firefighter after he was arrested on suspicion of groping a woman on a bus.

The suspect, Atsuhisa Narada, who works at Kitatama West Fire Station, was quoted by police as saying, "I did it to relieve stress and satisfy my sexual desires. I am very sorry,” Sankei Shimbun reported.

According to police, Narada was arrested twice before by police for groping women on buses — in October and November last year. He was subsequently indicted and sentenced to two years in prison suspended for four years in May.

Fire station chief Mitsuru Okada commented, "We take this case seriously and will work to prevent it from happening again."

He’s very sorry…that he got caught again. Hopefully now he’ll be spending the next two years in lockup.

3 strikes and you're out, and just 21, how odd, as everyone expects it to be old pervert!

Third time, ye that’s right third, can you believe it? Well, he obviously a pervert no doubt addicted to vile online pornography. I hope his devices have been checked for more crimes, these types often film their crimes and are in online groups with other perverts.

Needs to put a hose on that flame!

I'm surprised they didn't fire him after the second time arrested if not the first.

"We take this case seriously and will work to prevent it from happening again."

Well, OBVIOUSLY they take it seriously! The first two times they let the sexual assault slide -- I mean, as we all do, right? -- and now instead of the prison time he should automatically be getting for committing yet another crime despite having his previous sentence suspended, he just gets begrudgingly let go. They could have prevented it from happening again twice so far, but hey -- they are taking it seriously!

The kid is addicted to groping no one in his right mind will do it while indicted and sentenced to two years in prison suspended for four years. The man is seriously, sick and need mental help.

Had his sentence not been suspended it would not have happened again, at least not yet.

Now he deserves 4 years jail, not suspended, with a clear warning that if he ever does it again it will be 25 years.

Just way too young to do such lewd act, it's more acceptable if he's middle age salary man.

Does putting him in jail without mental help guarantee he won't do it again after sentence completion?

What they MEANT was that now that it has happened three times they will NOW take it seriously. Moronic.

According to police, Narada was arrested twice before by police for groping women on buses — in October and November last year. I guess Narada took a four month break in between getting caught or perhaps he never stopped until he was caught! Now he is looking at a prison sentence. The weird thing is the fire station chief said "We take this case seriously and will work to prevent it from happening again." AGAIN? how many times was AGAIN?

A lot of you don't know, but in Japan, if you're willing to compensate the victim financially, they usually drop the charges depending on how serious the offense is. This is how suspects get away with crimes and without any serious punishments or criminal records.

After third time !! ?

Yah SURE.

After he has fulfilled his punishment, why waste his training? Place him in some rural area in the disaster response team or something. Someplace remote with hardly any women.

Let him atone for his sins by doing something useful...such as helping the old folks in rural areas whenever there is a disaster or something.

Or give him a job in the prison itself as a fire responder.
