Police in Hyuga City, Miyazaki Prefecture, have arrested a 73-year-old man on suspicion of attempting to kill his brother, who is in his 70s, by slashing his neck.
Police said Katsushi Hamabata is accused of slashing his brother with a knife at around 11:45 a.m. on Sunday at their home, Sankei Shimbun reported. After attacking his brother, Hamabata called 119.
The victim was taken to hospital where doctors said his injury was not life-threatening.
Police said Hamabata has admitted to the charge but denied intent to kill his brother.
