Too much anti-Japan sentiment from the Chinese government is to blame.

difficult to say whether this has anything to do with politics. might just be another nutcase

Probably a hate crime. Two weeks ago, 4 American university teachers got stabbed in plain daylight. In a video you could see all 4 of them bleeding while everyone around giving a shoganai look. And that is exactly what the Chinese government teaches and encourage.

7 ( +16 / -9 )

Yes, there are bound to be repercussions from encouraging hatred of foreigners in Chinese schools and media. Any disaffected nut will see foreigners as fair game and harming them as upholding xenophobic, Chinese propaganda. It's the silly, short-sighted policy we have come to expect from a foolish country.

Seems like an anti-Japan attack - a hate crime inspired by the hateful CCP. I hope all injured can make it through.

The perpetrator will be executed. Make no mistake.

Lots of people jumping to conclusions - showing how easily opinion can be manipulated. Random knife attacks in China are not unusual - much more common than is being reported.

He's been talking about these incidents in China for ages.

So relieved he was finally able to leave China.

Every single one of my friends who choose that country to live say they would choose Japan in a heartbeat if they could go back in time.

Perp "could" be a nutcase. It "could" have been random. But in a country with over 1.4 billion people, a school bus used by a Japanese school was targeted. When a government stokes ultra-nationalism, hatred and racism all sorts of bad things can happen.

"when a government stokes ultra nationalism , hatred and racism..."You mean some of Trump's speeches ?

No. Not the parable of the electric boat and the shark.

The one where he goes to town on Latinos' generally and Mexicans in particular

You know the one?

"They bring in drugs, they rape, they murder....Oh I suppose there must be some good ones "

{The ones Trump has working at Mar Lago ? }

Well, they must not be very smart. If they had an ounce of sense, they'd have left that police state long ago.

Foreigners do get targeted in the PRC for political reasons - and some of them tragically end up dead.

If I was working and living in China, I’d leave my wife and kids behind. Mainland China gives me the creeps.

10 ( +14 / -4 )

May be this was just a random attack, we do not know as yet, the only thing we can be sure of is that the CCP will block any of its social media commenting on it, that what they do, continually. If it was a random attack then it is not that unusual in todays world, they are happening every where, even in Japan, there are so many thousands, even millions, around the world who hold grievances and hostilities. I have one theory though, although it may sound strange to many, these millions of people have no future for themselves nor do they see one, because they are virtually cut out of what we call 'Normal' society, ie. No work, poverty, no housing.....etc...they revert to acts of random violence against who they see as people who are better off than them. If this was indeed a hate crime, although I question that motive, because how on earth did he Know when and where these people were.

Let's wait and see what are going to be the results of the "official" investigation into this.

Of all the buses and all the stops, you had to walk into MINE (says the supposedly not targeted Japanese).

Maybe this particular incident was motivated by anti-Japanese sentiment, but there's no denying that China seems to be suffering from an epidemic of random knife related violence the past years. Just a few weeks ago four teachers from Iowa was stabbed by a 55-year old Chinese man in a fit of anger. And last month two people were killed and over 20 injured in a knife attack at a hospital.

couple of weeks ago, it was 4 Americans being stabbed in Jilin zhina, yesterday it was Japanese school bus be attacked, and thanks goodness, the kids inside the bus were not attacked, but it is still a sad news to know the Japanese mother and her kid was injured. Congratulations zhina, your hatred toward the foreigners already earn you the reputation of barbaric nation and the land of pirates!

Suzhou, China (Jiji Press)—The Japanese Embassy in Beijing has warned Japanese nationals to be on alert following a knife attack Monday against a Japanese mother and her child by an apparent Chinese man in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province.

In the message issued late Monday, the embassy called for “careful attention to the surrounding situation,” noting that stabbing incidents have recently occurred around the country in parks, schools, subways and other places where people gather.

China is widely acknowledged as one of the safest countries in the world, Xu Ganlu, vice-minister of public security, told a press conference here on Oct 19.

4 American be randomly stabbed, then now 2 Japanese (1 kid) be randomly attacked again...safest country in the world? what a joke!

The recent generation of Chinese are much more hateful than the past. Their fanaticism are as strong as the religious extremists, these types of attacks will become more and more common. Japan should take a tougher security look at tourists coming from mainland China before it is too late.

uzhou, China (Jiji Press)—The Japanese Embassy in Beijing has warned Japanese nationals to be on alert following a knife attack Monday against a Japanese mother and her child by an apparent Chinese man in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province.

It beggars belief that any Japanese person - let alone a Japanese mother and her children - would take the risk of being in China. A place where the government endlessly whips up anti-Japanese fervor, which no doubt encourages the targeting of Japanese citizens.

If Japanese adults want to take that risk, that's on them. Yes - it's dumb - but they know exactly what risks they are getting themselves into. Just DON'T take vulnerable Japanese children there.

Furthermore China celebrated and conducted a reenactment of PM Abe's assassination at a high school to wide approval and applause.

Pathetic of China to be doing this in schools - but not unexpected. Focusing on hatred of Japanese, rather than actually studying. It probably explains why the students China pumps out are very low standard and robotic - completely ill-equipped to ever work internationally.

All foreigners and foreign companies should leave China it is not a safe country for either.

Blessedly, it appears that more and more companies are slowly but surely are doing just this and spreading their businesses around different Asian regions.

China is burying themselves with their authoritarian behavior, financially.

Yes terrible attack, no one going to mention the Chinese lady who put herself on the line and prevented serious injury to the mother and child?

She now is in critical condition but no one acknowledges her, who knows it may damage the narrative that all Chinese are anti Japanese and terrible people in general.
