Kill someone, gets early retirement on tax payers money ... justice system is not working.

They all need life and no more appeals. Don’t waist anything on these people. They can eat rice for the rest of their lives alone in a cell for that matter. Disgusting. Death is too good for them.

Justice served. Swift. Others take notice.
Fighto!
He got off lightly. The scum should be kept on death row for several years then, without any notice given, executed within hours.
Absolute animal, who hopefully dies in prison.
Rest in Peace to the poor old woman.

Life in prison in Japan is very harsh, that's why he asked for the death penalty.
Even 5 years in a Japanese prison is like 15 years in the West.

No payroll please and let the other inmates know what he did.
Fighto!
Not convinced about that. In many Western prisons gangs regularly brawl, inmates are beaten or knifed - sometimes to death - prison officers often turn a blind eye to attacks on heinous crims. All of this is not a regular thing in most Japanese prisons. Early wake ups, hard work, no speaking allowed, three meals per day - sounds better than always being fearful for your life.

Another demonic creature with a soul darker than a gorillas goolies.
These people who are vermin in human form should never walk the streets again.

Japan rarely gives the death penalty for a single murder. It usually takes two or more murders to swing.
This is hardly early retirement. Japanese prisons can be brutal. They don't have the violence problem like most prisons. But inmates are given very menial jobs and they must do it for eight hours a day. Imagine just sitting in a chair where talking is not permitted and you just tighten three or four screws on a stool. Then the next stool comes and you tighten those screws. Then the next. Then the next one for eight hours every day except Sunday for life. That is borderline torture. And if you misbehave or become defiant you can get strapped down for days unable to move. Or put in solitary where you are forced to sit in the same position for eight hours.
