Police in Takasaki, Gunma Prefecture, have arrested three 16-year-old boys on suspicion of intimidation and obstruction of business for throwing fireworks at a police station last month.
According to police, two of the boys are high school students, and the third is a painter, Sankei Shimbun reported.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Aug 23. The suspects are accused of throwing 12 lit fireworks into the parking lot of Takasaki Police Station, disrupting the work of on-duty officers.
Police said there were no injuries or damage to property.

intimidation and obstruction of business only? Man, these kids got off light. They would've been charged with something heavier in other countries. I wonder what was the motive.

Motive? Wanting to have fun. It’s a prank.

Bad parenting.

They should have received a telling-off and a warning.

Thanks for the down votes, (as always) but saying it's a prank is not me excusing them. I definitely think they should be punished. I'm just speaking to their likely motive.

Definition of disrupting in the parking lot- waking the police officers up!

They should have got a warning and dragged home to their parents for a stern berating.

Only in Japan?
Don't know if there any other country where boys would do a stunt like this to the police but definitely not where I'm from.
Lobbing grenades into the police station is another matter though

So they made a big loud noise in the parking lot and the cops thought they were under attack and came running out in a panic.
Yeah okay it's a nuisance and maybe disrupted their naps and all that, and yeah the kids need a lesson. But it's not as bad as what the Pharaohs did in American Graffiti!

In my youth, they would have been immediately fired from high school, no more university or any careers in future, and their parents' careers would have ended too, being placed at a boring or heavy work place with low income forever.

They should claim they did it because they were mad about the patriarchy and intersectionality.
Here in the US, that would get them released on a $10 surety bond, and then they'd eventually have their cases thrown out.

Dont like pranks, someone is always made to look stupid. In this case it was the kids, so all’s well that ends well.
