I hate hearing about guys dying this young - I’m not so far off.

"I hate hearing about guys dying this young - I’m not so far off." @Strangerland.

It's saddening but unavoidable, death of the body is guaranteed. What matters most is the Soul. Or rather the second death is what should concern all of us.

I was shocked when I heard the news and felt numb briefly whilst processing the news.

Dragon Ball Z was the very first anime that I watched as a child, and was my gateway into the anime world - And, being truthfully honest, anime helped me to briefly escape from a few things whilst growing up.

Akira Toriyama's impact on the industry and the lives of those who enjoyed his works was astronomical and his name and legacy will always be known and respected. May you Rest in Peace, Akira Toriyama.

Dragon Ball; great comic series. 少年ジャンプ was a good read.

Vey sad and too young.

I grew up watching Dragon Ball. And it’s still part of my life because I play Legends and Dokkan. Rest in peace, Toriyama Akira. And thank you.

@Strangerland: Once again: What is your scientific ground for your statement? Get straight to the point.

A true national treasure. Without Dragonball and Dragon Quest I wouldnt be where I am today. He will be missed. RIP

What a tragic news..

In my youth, DragonBall was one of the things I became interested in Japan..

Too young to leave this world..

I believe that Toyotaro San will continue the legacy of DragonBall..

Rest in peace Toriyama San and thank you so much for everything..

In BBC News, Akira Toriyama's death is a more read article than Biden's speech.

when he created "Dragon Ball", which he said was inspired by Chinese-style kung fu movies.

It was not. It was actually largely and heavily influenced by a Chinese novel from the 16th century. So although the manga adaptation was entertaining, it was not an original creation.

The passing of another legend. Dragon Ball was the first anime I ever saw as a kid. I didn't know what anime was then; I just thought that it was really cool. I eventually read the manga, and as an adult I still read it. I've also played a lot of the video games he designed characters for, Chrono Trigger being my most favorite.

RIP, Toriyama-Sensei.
