play your guitar dude, the last election showed how much the people value celebrity opinions on politics.

Springsteen has campaigned for Trump's opponents, including Harris last fall. In 2020

A Lot of good that did

-17 ( +4 / -21 )

Whatever, Bruce.

-18 ( +6 / -24 )

Why does Trump even react?

2 ( +17 / -15 )

Why does Trump even react?

Why does Bruce need to make that comment?

-20 ( +6 / -26 )

an “unfit president and a rogue government” who have “no concern or idea for what it means to be deeply American.”

Ditto to that!

Trump leads a privileged group that is primarily focused on financially bettering themselves at the expense of the common American man and woman.

But that’s nothing new. Springsteen’s generation served in Vietnam. Trump’s privileged father leveraged connections with a local podiatrist renting office space in a Trump building to get a medical excuse for Donald, claiming he had a bone spur in his heels. (These supposed bone spurs didn’t seem to bother his golf game before (he started playing four years prior) and after this heel spur claim.)

Trump is a shyster, and the common American man and woman are the people he defrauds.

Why does Trump even react?

Why does Bruce need to make that comment?

Free speech, maybe?

-3 ( +16 / -19 )

Why does Bruce need to make that comment?

It’s a popular sentiment. He has been making political comments for his entire career. Also as Wallace said, free speech.

Anything else?

’Stay in your lane’ perhaps?

With every third-grade insult, Trump just shows what an utter degenerate and fool he is...

Real men don't get triggered by criticism...weak, insecure, pansies get upset and have a tantrum...

He'a a wuss...

8 ( +13 / -5 )

the US presidency is a joke

8 ( +14 / -6 )

Something about sticks and stones.

-7 ( +9 / -16 )

He thinks he, catching hell, wait until the game control of the congress

0 ( +3 / -3 )

Free speech, maybe?

So free speech applies to everyone except the President?

-2 ( +6 / -8 )

Free speech, maybe?

Well, you just answered your own conflicted question.

Something about sticks and stones.

True, but would apply to both sides.

With every third-grade insult, Trump just shows what an utter degenerate and fool he is...

So he has to take this idiots insults? That makes him a man? You call it third-grade, whatever, if Springsteen doesn’t like the insults he’s receiving then don’t make them yourself.

Real men don't get triggered by criticism...weak, insecure, pansies get upset and have a tantrum...

Real men or REAL musicians don’t need to make disparaging comments while overseas against the leader of their country, with a D agree, or not, whether they are Republican or democrat.

He'a a wuss...

Bruce most certainly is.

-16 ( +1 / -17 )

It’s a popular sentiment. He has been making political comments for his entire career.

As Trump has his political career

Also as Wallace said, free speech.

Goes both ways

Anything else?

’Stay in your lane’ perhaps?

Did Bruce get your message?

-13 ( +3 / -16 )

Free speech, maybe?

So free speech applies to everyone except the President?

What are you on about?

The most powerful man in the world can’t keep his mouth shut and spends all day tweeting.

Who is impeding his free speech? Give examples.

7 ( +12 / -5 )

Also as Wallace said, free speech.

Goes both ways

Well done. That’s what free speech is. See, you can understand.

Springsteen is not the president

8 ( +11 / -3 )

Presidents need a dignified demeanor, rockstars do not.

-3 ( +16 / -19 )

The next morning, Trump called Springsteen highly overrated.

I’m not a big fan of Springsteen’s music but he became a music superstar through his talent.

Trump became known to the public through the fact he was rich - rich through what his father gave him.

Without that handout, it’s very doubtful that he would’ve amounted to much. Reminds me of Bush 2 in some ways.

8 ( +13 / -5 )

Presidents need a dignified demeanor

Trump has shattered that idea.

I’ll never forget when Trump posted and unflattering photo of Ted Cruz’s wife on Twitter and some MAGA supporters on here applauded it - they thought it was an example of how Trump is a political fighter.

I suppose some have different standards to others.

3 ( +9 / -6 )

It is not necessary for the US President to be in the headlines every single day. This is not good or normal.

This applies to even exceptional presidents who have rediscovered long-lost words like "groceries".

8 ( +10 / -2 )

With every third-grade insult, Trump just shows what an utter degenerate and fool he is...

So he has to take this idiots insults? That makes him a man?

Indeed...

You call it third-grade, whatever, if Springsteen doesn’t like the insults he’s receiving then don’t make them yourself.

MAGA cancel culture...and it's growing....

Real men don't get triggered by criticism...weak, insecure, pansies get upset and have a tantrum...

Real men or REAL musicians don’t need to make disparaging comments while overseas against the leader of their country, with a D agree, or not, whether they are Republican or democrat.

I don't know what that world salad means but I bet you have this song on your playlist...

Perhaps, instead of auditioning for Rolling Stone magazine, the President might try explaining what is in his Gulf trade deals and in his "Big Beautiful Bill."

3 ( +7 / -4 )

"We voted for this too " ?

These actors and personalities should stay away from politics. Didn’t go well for De Niro, and those that, back in the day, like(D) Springsteen ( past tense ) are pretty much in the Trump camp now. The American flag is like cryptonite to the mob that Springsteen now sings to.

‘Born in the U.S.A’ going to war against the ‘Make America Great Again’ crew! What a crazy time we live in.

Mental.

It’s mental that maga still don’t understand what the song ‘Born in the USA’ is about. Try listening to it and if you can read the lyrics.

Just compare their comments...Bruce is a well thought out adult and then the other guy...pure elementary school.

"Why does Bruce need to make that comment?"

The people of England and Europe(Bruce's next stop) need to hear the truth about "The madman across the water." They also need to hear from the American people that don't worship this wannabe dictator.

Why not stay on your lane Bruce

What’s your lane?

Just trying to work out which lanes people should stay in and why.

0 ( +5 / -5 )

Why not stay on your lane Bruce

Kid Rock, Chachi, John Voight, Caitlyn (Bruce?) Jenner, Dennis Quaid, Joe Exotic...and a passel of other has-beens...

-1 ( +5 / -6 )

"What’s your lane?

Just trying to work out which lanes people should stay in and why."

His lane is music, not politics. Once musicians gets into politics they end up alienating some of their fans and that's not rocket science.

-11 ( +1 / -12 )

"Why not stay on your lane Bruce

All have one thing in common stupidity!

All have one thing in common stupidity!

Well that's a frank admission...

So why does Trump still hang with all these "stupid" celebrities and entertainers?

3 ( +5 / -2 )

Just trying to work out which lanes people should stay in and why."

You comment on politics.

What is your lane? Is it politics?

Once musicians gets into politics they end up alienating some of their fans and that's not rocket science.

His audience, not yours.

He can choose to alienate some of them.

His business.

0 ( +4 / -4 )

All have one thing in common stupidity!

So your think that artists must be stupid to support Trump?

Also, thinking that people should stay in arbitrary lines that you decide and that they should not express themselves in any other topic in not congruent with people that value free speech. If those that have opinions are perfectly fine with the consequences, why would you think they should do differently?

-9 ( +5 / -14 )

Bruce Springsteen has written, composed and performed about political / social issues his whole life.

His life's work in a large part is a commentary on the conditions of the ordinary folks of the US.

He is no different from any other artist that represents their ideas, opinions and beliefs whether they be writers, film makers, journalists, cartoonists or whatever.

Maybe Picasso shouldn't have painted Guernica and kept his nose out of politics.

How restricted and confined a narrow society it would be if only those in politics made political discourse (or were allowed to). Of course such places do exist and are the antithesis of freedom.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

Springsteen is "The Boss" - Trump is "The Apprentice"...

The Apprentice just got schooled and owned...

7 ( +11 / -4 )

Springsteen represents no one but himself. Trump represents his nation and country.

-6 ( +8 / -14 )

Springsteen first and foremost an entertainer

A "politician" the great pretender distant last .

A great all the same

Bruce Springsteen - Dancing In the Dark (from Born In The U.S.A. Live: London 2013)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x7lfzARGXGw

When will musicians accept they are not "politicians" without a mandate

-10 ( +0 / -10 )

A "politician" the great pretender distant last .

This makes no sense, having political opinions is common and some people would even call it a civic duty, that does not mean the person is pretending to be a politician. If anything this would be political activism, and that of course is not even similar.

-4 ( +7 / -11 )

If you want artists to stay out of politics why don’t you also want politicians to stay out of art/culture?

Its ridiculous to suggest either.

8 ( +9 / -1 )

MAGA people are rewritting and rebooting their brains, after they were forced to acknowledge what Bruce Springsteen has always been.... so guys give them a momment they will begin to say either they never liked him or he is an irrelevant "has been" singer or sorts.

You can already see the brain rebooting effects in some commentators in here!!

7 ( +7 / -0 )

Springsteen has more talent in his discarded underwear than Trump has in his whole wardrobe.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

If you want artists to stay out of politics why don’t you also want politicians to stay out of art/culture?

I agree.

Furthere more, as principle being an artist mean it has an stance or opinion regarding society and/or politics. The fact is, is not conceivable for an artist to "keep" his/her opinion aside from his/her art... the art and the opinon are the same.

Those who say stuff like separating art and politics, does not understand how art works.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Why does Bruce need to make that comment?

because being critical of the government is literally the 1st amendment.

A government official criticizing an indivudal, is not the 1st amendement

10 ( +10 / -0 )

Opinions, comments never/supposed to make sense, especially if you don’t agree,

Do you mean the left can't separate themselves from their emotions too?

-9 ( +1 / -10 )

MAGA will be all about “free speech” until someone criticizes their cult leader.

Then all of a sudden it’s “stay in your lane”, “shut up, you’re a musician” or “shut up, you’re an athlete”.

It couldn’t be more obvious that they mean “free speech for me, but not for you when you say something I don’t like”.

Bunch of hypocritical clowns, MAGA are.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

Do you mean the left can't separate themselves from their emotions too?

No they can't, because they are humans... and as far as I know people from the right are also humans... unless you say they are not?

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Do you mean the left can't separate themselves from their emotions too?

There is an argument that the politics of the left is based on envy and the politics of the right is based on fear and insecurity..

My lane isn’t psychology so perhaps I’d best just report the observation rather than giving an opinion on it.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

If you're standing on a stage in Europe, unless you're a MAGA you're going to feel pretty embarrassed about virtually everything Trump is doing. He's just pointing out that he's not insane.

5 ( +7 / -2 )

Opinions, comments never/supposed to make sense, especially if you don’t agree,

What makes no sense is making an illogical leap between having and expressing political opinions and pretending to be a politician. It is not that I don't agree but that this is a non-sequitur.

-7 ( +3 / -10 )

A "politician" the great pretender distant last .

This makes no sense, having political opinions is common and some people would even call it a civic duty

That’s what I was brought up to believe.

I remember in the run up to the Brexit vote, an academic gave the very brutal opinion that the majority of the voting public were too ignorant to know the ramifications of what they were voting for. My first reaction was to think that his idea would mean the the majority voting public are too ignorant to vote in general elections - you have to take more into account there than in a referendum. Wasn’t it Churchill who said the best argument against democracy was a conversation with the average voter?

Too elitist for me.

Perhaps those telling musicians to stay on their lane are more in the elitist camp, but some of them rage against elites.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

That guy is a douche. Another celebrity/musician deviating from his lane and sounding like a tool. Stick to singing there, Bruce...

-9 ( +1 / -10 )

Stick to singing there, Bruce

Let me guess, you see the band name "Rage Against the Machine" and think this is about some household appliance, right?

-2 ( +7 / -9 )

Let me guess, you see the band name "Rage Against the Machine" and think this is about some household appliance, right?

See "The Smashing Pumpkins" and think is a recipe for Thanks giving

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Lectured by Bruce Springsteen? Did not pay my ticket price for that. Stick to the song list. I am at concert to take a break from all hatred in the world.

-7 ( +1 / -8 )

Another celebrity/musician deviating from his lane and sounding like a tool

Reagan and Trump did it.

They sounded/sound like tools but won elections.

Not a handicap.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Trump either doesn't realise, or doesn't care, how much he gets dragged when he decides to pick a fight with someone who's no less famous, but far more popular, than him.

As has been pointed out many times, he has almost no impulse control, and his command of the English language is...well, look how he writes on Truth Social.

He might be able to convince the MAGAts to temporarily change their opinion of an artist (until the next news cycle comes along), but everyone else just thinks "old man yelling at cloud".
