Erm, hard to know what to say, except congratulations to the winner, I guess.

Switzerland's Nemo won the Eurovision Song Contest on Saturday, becoming the first artist identifying as non-binary to claim victory

Eurovision has gone woke. Surely it will go broke.

Just like it did about a decade ago when a drag queen won it.

There is more to the story about the Israeli contestant Eden Golan than meets the eye and not the pro-Palestinian protests that took place or the massive booing when she took the stage.

She has been placed on Ukraine’s Mirotvorets website for participating in a children’s song competition in Crimea back when she was just 12 years old. This wasn't really noticed until she made the finals last week.

Born in Israel to parents from the USSR and a dual citizen, her family moved back to Russia when she was six and lived in Moscow for over a decade, before returning to Israel in 2022.

Here is a video of her performance at the Artek international children's camp from 2016, a duet with singer and songwriter Nyusha. This performance is listed as her "crime" on that website.

"There were a lot of things that didn't seem like it was all about love and unity and that made me really sad," Nemo told reporters.

People that try to shutdown, intimidate or boo performers on any stage trying to make something of themselves should be ashamed, but that would take a level of personal reflection and humility that these folk simply don’t posses and sadly, most likely never will. Interesting that’s it’s the inclusion and diversity crowd that are the worst offenders too. I guess some get to be more included then others?

Ireland’s contestant Bambie Thug were particularly classy, saying they cried when it was announced that Israel had qualified for the competition’s grand finale.

Love, peace and unity from the pop stars of today.

"'The Code' is about the journey I started with the realization that I am neither a man nor a woman," Nemo said.

Not so many years ago, if a bloke had said that with a straight face, we’d have labelled him as mentally ill.

In 2024, the sane folks left among us still do.

"Nemo had smuggled in a flag representing non-binary people which they displayed during the show's introduction."

This blatant act of willfully violating the clearly stated rules of the event should be enough disqualify the non-person.

Are you claiming it went broke a decade ago? Can't say I remember.

Lets be clear the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest is far removed from the 1974 Brighton UK ABBA waterloo wonder breakthrough wizardry.

Before my time, but my parents have a wardrobe full of spandex/lycra lunacy they squeeze into from time to revive the era.

No lgbtqia2s+ non-binary identity confusion, or Gaza Palestinian protesting a devastating war.

I prefer Jules Verne Nemo, a scientific visionary.

The anti-woke crowd assured me that ‘go woke, go broke’ is an inviolable law of business.

I don’t remember it going broke when a drag queen won it a decade ago either but inviolable laws are inviolable laws.

It must have gone broke.

1 ( +7 / -6 )

So what the hell are you? Oh, right. You identify as a clownfish.

Don’t worry. He’ll surely go broke.

Then you can be less upset.

5 ( +10 / -5 )

I have no opinion on the contest itself only a question about why Israel is included in a Eurovision contest. Last I checked Israel was located in West Asia.

The Eurovision Song Contest has, as long as I can remember been camper than a row of tents, a celebration of a diverse Europe's cultural whirlpool of exaggerated over the top spectacle, extreme flamboyances framed in a humorous way.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

This has turned into a highly politically charged event and attracts depraved members of society who oppose traditional lifestyles.

It’s time for an end to this charade and it is no longer appropriate for children to watch. It’s a crying shame, but that’s what the modern world has become you see.

Exactly. It’s fun, silly and woke these days but you can get some good tunes in there.

If it stopped the fun, silliness, flamboyance and woke behaviour it could go broke..

So did he win or she win or they win.

-5 ( +6 / -11 )

Well, at least the article was honest in its clear declaration that Nemo IDENTIFIES as non-binary and DID NOT state that he actually IS non-binary, which is an impossibility. No human is non-binary.

I remember when it had actual singers like 1st place Celine Dion and 4th place Lara Fabian (personally I think it should have been the reverse) but no flamboyant stuff just good songs and good singers.

Now it is a contest as to who can out silly the other sillies!

What about people with XXY chromosomes or both sets of genitalia?

Correct. You can ‘identify as’ anything you want: it just means ‘feel like’/‘am pretending to be’ and, as such, is an empirically meaningless proposition.

Requiring or demanding that others participate in your fantasy charade (like newspapers (sic) irresponsibly misusing pronouns) is where it becomes an issue.

But this bloke Nemo says ‘I am neither a man nor a woman’. That tells us he is insane or mentally unwell. We should not encourage or facilitate his illness.

He’s not ‘they’. He’s a man pretending not to be a man.

XXY are males and rarely have both genetalia and as a side note XXY makes are also more than likely to be 5-20 times higher in males who are mentally challenged than in the general male population.

As for those with both male and female parts:

Despite the false claims often quoted based on Fausto-Sterling s estimate of 1.7%. of the population

Actual research has put the true number of intersex at 0.018%.

What this shows is that "perception" based on a lot of false claims is not what is reality!

So what? Ya gonna "treat" those people of their condition? What if they want to go the female route? Ya gonna say no to their face despite their natural condition?

Still not zero, so what do you do? Hack something off at birth and make the choice for them?

It's also worth noting that everything not in the underwear is determined by hormones. There are absolutely men and women you would not guess correctly what is in their pants.

Just like it did about a decade ago when a drag queen won it.

If people like watching it, more power to them, nothing wrong with it, Europeans are free to watch anything they wish.

Totally. What ever happened to those innocent, good old days of the 70s when men could dress up in Lycra spandex, sequins and make-up and belt out some flamboyant tunes?

None of this modern day lgbtqia2s+ non-binary identity confusion back then!

-1 ( +6 / -7 )

I am neither a man nor a woman

What a grotesque nonsense. Cold biological reality tells otherwise.

This dude is mentally disturbed and he needs help. The fact that mental illness is celebrated tells a lot about how bizarre the world has become.

-9 ( +8 / -17 )

Fighto!

My humble opinion is the Eurovision song contest is a fun event, not to be confused or compared with the Grammys.

This 2024 contest was a "minefield" of political toxicity.

Israel's contestant Eden Golan deemed a public enemy before landing in Malmo, a estimated 5000 protestors gathered around or outside the Eurovision arena, many including Greta Thunberg had to be detained by Swedish police, some forcibly removed.

I really not fussed whether Nemo is non binary .....

"The Code, is about the journey I started with the realization that I am neither a man nor a woman,"

It is the need that Nemo feels this fun contest is a platform to stage a lecture for the global audience on the

intricacy of identity politics that I find irritating.

No surprise. Bro is definitely not SWM. You can tell by looking at him.

Israel's retaliatory offensive has killed at least 34,971 people in Gaza, mostly women and children, according to the Hamas-run territory's health ministry.

Off topic.

For those that didn't see the show, haven't seen his photo or have vision problems.... Nemo is a man who likes to wear clothes usually worn by the other sex.

-6 ( +3 / -9 )

Very good for Switzerland, very good song...

Thank goodness Ukraine and Israel did not win, it would have been a silly political propaganda move and Eurovision would have lost total credibility...

Spain and Norway deserved a better places, both great songs..

Go Europe !!..

'The popular vote ranked Croatia first with 337 points, ahead of Israel with 323 points and Ukraine in third with 307 points.'

If you think a 'jury vote' is OK, then why don't you promote it for your political elections?

EV voting used to be a running joke when the votes were 100%, the same nations giving the same scores to the same people regardless.

Allowing a percentage popular vote is meaningless if they still use the 'jury' vote to change it.

Croatia won the popular vote, so for me, Croatia won.

Israel trying to control the Europeans when they shouldn’t even be allowed to participate in this event—what a joke, and no, they’ll never be part of Europe. The winner, a MAN from Switzerland, is another joke, but, at least it wasn’t Israel. Eurovision (and Europe), what has happened to you(?).

Israel trying to control the Europeans when they shouldn’t even be allowed to participate in this event—what a joke, and no, they’ll never be part of Europe.

You would also say that about the fact Israel competes in the Euro Football Championships. There is a good reason Israel cannot compete in its geographical area for these comps - endless threats of violence, and boycotts from the usual suspects in Asia.

Israel used to compete in and win the Asian Football Championships by walkover because 5 or 6 fellow Asian nations simply refused to play them.

Plus - Australia is not exactly in Europe either, is it?
