She also starred in the Oscar-winning 2000 martial arts film "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon", the 2005 period drama "Memoirs of a Geisha" and the 2018 romantic comedy "Crazy Rich Asians".

Michelle is a treasure.

Looking forward to seeing her as the Empress of the Terran Empire in the upcoming Star Trek movie focusing on Section 31.

"I don't believe just because we are women, we are a weaker sex... We should never allow somebody to put us in a box.

Now the tricky questions!

What does she mean by a woman?

Can she actually define a woman seeing Hollywood and our leaders cannot.

Is she referring to an "Asian women" (remember that was that big headline when she won, perhaps she means "CIS woman" or perhaps "Cis Asian woman", etc...

If she doesn't like boxes then perhaps she should tell that to the Hollywood crowd, they invented more boxes to put people in or at least embrace the boxes created.

When she won the first thing in every article was "Asian Actor" so she was boxed upon just receiving it!

I 100% agree with the point she is trying to convey, but in " everything needs a quota" " every one has a self identification" Hollywood isn't the place to be if you don't want to be in a box or be labeled.

An award earned and an encouragement to other Asian women. Long-acting history. Also 60 years old is a win for older actresses.

We should never allow somebody to put us in a box.

Then the box:

An award earned and an encouragement to other Asian women.

identity box, gender bos, ethnic box etc...box

Btw, we’re waiting for a few more of those Hong Kong martial arts/action movies…; old school, you know…

"I have been very blessed [which] has enabled me to fight for what I truly believe in: representation, diversity, especially empowerment of women... We should never allow somebody to put us in a box.”

Blessed? Yes. Daughter of one of the richest capitalists in Malaysia, privately educated in the U.K., top private stage school, never worked a real job in her life and never wanted for anything.

A box? Empowering women? Well, you were keen enough to be Miss Malaysia and Miss World runner up. Who put you in those empowering boxes? Oh, it was you.

Entitled pampered posh rich salt pot tells ordinary folks struggling to make ends meet amid a global recession that ‘you can be what you want to be!’ Dontcha just love it.
