Love walking about especially places I ain’t been to before and have a goo look around. Prefer cycling though to be honest. Too many do too little these days in the form of physical activities, ultimately we become surrounded by people with Teletubby shapes who waddle about and feel ill most of the time.

Dont forget to use tHem muscles proper, do some weights, get dumbells they are cheap and easy to store. Even 30 minute a week and squats and sit ups will make you feel and look miles better, just keep it up always.

If the purpose is mainly to improve fitness and overall health (instead of exploring, enjoying outdoors, having a chat with friends while walking, etc.) the use of sticks for Nordic Walking is a very good option, increases the amount of excercise done in the same amount of time (or distance) and bring extra benefits to the upper body. Of course first is necessary to learn how to do it properly to avoid injuries and bring the full benefits since it is not as natural as just walking, but it is not that difficult to learn either.

Walking is my favorite outdoor activity and I've walked extensively in probably every major city in Japan as I incorporate that into my visits. It surprises me when I meet people, especially some who are half my age, who constantly complain about being tired throughout the day. When I say to leave the Red Bulls and other "energy drinks" alone and move their bodies, they generally tune out but the proof is out there, as in this article. It seems the love of exercise doesn't come naturally to everyone but I have never needed motivation and the weather almost never stops me from going outside. I would love to join that 100-kilometer walk that happens yearly in Osaka.

I recommend using a weighted vest. Rucking will multiply your benefits in a shorter time.

I have an islamic prayer app installed for that purpose. Howls at me 5 time a day to remind me to get up, stretch, and do some pushups. Healthy.

The average American walks about 3,000 to 4,000 steps

Shockingly little. US car culture to blame I guess. It would take me an effort to walk less than 7000 steps on an average weekday.
