Sarah Penny holds Phoenix, one of the chickens she keeps in her yard in Knoxville, Tenn.

Sarah Penny defrinitely eats a lot of eggs. And chickens.

A good way to accelerate the mutation of H5N1 into something transmissible to humans. Seems like the US is doing everything possible to make sure there is another tragic pandemic, and this time nobody is going to be able to blame China for the mess. It will be the US that owns it.

Well, no, because this article is about raising domestic animals, not about laboratory virus leaks.

Surprised she hasn't changed her name to Henny Penny by deed poll.

I was just talking to a friend of mine a couple of weeks ago over lunch to just get a couple of hens to solve the egg crisis!

Would it be nice when he comes home to his apartment, and he has his hens to greet as well!

Memo to prospective hen owners...it is not as expensive nor as complex as it sounds.

Plus hens eat crawling bugs like cockroaches before they get into the house.

Note...snakes and lizards like eggs too.

Top tip,use those taxpayer funded cloth masks as makeshift diapers for housebound fowl.

Also,they do catch any eggs...

No pandemic ever has happened because of virus leaks, therefore it is reasonable to worry about raising domestic animals that would mediate between wild animals and humans.

For a long time we lived in an area where we could have all kinds of animals, even horses. Fresh eggs from chickens and ducks were a pleasure. The duck eggs are not good for omelettes, but ok for use in things like cakes and pancakes. The chickens ran loose except at night. They seemed happy, and the eggs were delicious.

Where we live now the zoning laws were changed a long time ago so that chickens are not allowed. We also have a lot of hawks and coyotes, so that would be a problem.

Nope, just stopped eating eggs, just like anything ELSE that costs too much
