Vinyl, cassette and radio in one player

Vinyl records are said to have a richer sound than digital formats. Unlike listening to an MP3 file, listening to an album on vinyl is an interactive experience. You need to stick around and flip the record to continue listening. It’s engaging in ways that can’t be replicated. The physical act of placing the needle and the larger album artwork also create a more immersive, nostalgic experience.

If you’re looking to start a vinyl collection, then the multi-functional record player from Lithon is just what you need. The CM-010 combines vinyl, cassette and radio capabilities in one. It supports three different vinyl speeds — 33, 45 and 78 RPM — ensuring compatibility with various records. The automatic stop function halts the turntable after playback or when the tonearm is returned.

It also features AM and FM radio support, including wide FM for additional stations. For cassette lovers, you can insert tapes directly into the player to enjoy playback or fast-forwarding. Additionally, the external input allows you to connect to other music devices.

Available for ¥14,800 on the official Lithon website.

I picked up a Teac at half the price, virtually unused, from a recycle shop.

Book-Off is a treasure trove of cheap vinyl.

I bet with those small speakers it sounds like rubbish whatever is played through it. 50 years ago most house had at least a decent a decent amplifier of at least 20 watts per channel and two decent speakers. Not long ago a Pioneer.

Recently I went to a large electrical shop. I asked where the stereos were. They didn't sell any. Still there are bargain amps and speakers in second hand shops.

I'm with the above posters on the step back in terms of speaker tech. I read an article recently on the reasons for why those large speakers that were found in houses in the past were the size they were. Its nice to have access to physical media in a generation that is leaving it behind in favor of streaming, but I think with a decent set of proper speakers and properly maintained equipment, you can do much better.
