The best way to dry your clothes this winter

In Japan, due to limited space, it’s pretty common to hang clothes outside to dry. There are even weather advisories that tell viewers which day would be best to hang their clothes outside. However, during the colder months the lack of heat makes drying clothes more of a challenge. One solution is to use the indoor drying function or irui-kanso that newer apartments come with. By using this function, you can easily dry clothes in as little as three hours (although, in most cases, it can take much more).

If your apartment doesn’t have this feature, consider investing in a drying stand with a built-in heater. This dryer stand by Thanko is perfect for sweaters as you can dry your clothes without stretching them on the rack. The stand is lightweight and compact, so you can easily store it away. It comes with a built-in temperature fuse and thermostat to prevent overheating so you can dry your clothes without running the risk of burning them.

Get it for ¥3,990 for a limited time on the Thanko website.

It is not just limited space that makes people dry their clothes outside, a lot of people prefer it.

We have a garden, balconies, and most days wind, so outside drying, but we also have a large laundry room if the weather is bad.
