A costly and ignorant change that will be reversed as soon as there is a real president.

The Gulf of America makes sense.
Finally, an administration that gets it.
bass4funk
Not if a law is out in place to prevent it which is what the GOP are planning to do.
wallace
It is only recognized by Trump and his gang.
TaiwanIsNotChina
Just like how the 14th amendment will be repealed, right?
GBR48
The Southern Canadians can rename everything if they want. We can just ignore them. Once Trump gets up to 500% tariffs on everybody, because we decline to call him the King of the World, his subjects will toss him out, as everything will cost them so much.

Within the US call it whatever you want. Meanwhile, back in reality, the rest of the world will continue to call it "The Gulf of Mexico."
Zaphod
It is another brilliant Trump troll, designed to get people thinking about an issue. Of course, the media fall for for it hook line and sinker.
In the event, for those who think English geographical names are never changed, do their atlasses stil show Rhodesia, Ceylon, Burma, or Peking on current editions? If so, I would like to see that.

Bombay changed to Mumbai
Peking changed to Beijing
Burma changed to Myanmar
Turkey changed to Türkiye
Greenland can be changed to Trumpland
What's Denmark gonna do about it?
bass4funk
I’m not so sure, let’s wait and see. This is just all so exciting.
That’s ok, they can do that, I call China’s big city Beijing, my wife calls it Peking, no ne cares and we both know what we are talking about, but since the US uses the area more, Gulf of America would seem more appropriate.

Deal with it.
wallace
Bombay is a city in India.
Beijing is a city in China.
Myanmar is a country but some still call it Burma.
Turkiye is a country.
Denmark expressed that today Greenland is not for sale.
The Gulf of Mexico is located between two countries.

Just the latest in a week of failures, gaffs, embarrassments, and self-owns...
There's never been a new administration with this many failures in its first week...
It's a laughing stock...
bass4funk
Denmark they can say that all day, the Greenlanders have the right to be independent if they want.

The Gulf of Mexico is located between two countries.
That wasn’t the point, the point is, the names were all changed.
bass4funk
I disagree
lincolnman
But Trump wants to invade them...
According to Trump Estonia and Transylvania...
That no one will recognize...
Interesting - the border, crime, prices, the Ukraine war....nothing on those - but we're treated to such exercises as name-changing and pardoning violent drug dealers...
Trump 2.0 - All failures, all the time...
GuruMick
My Gran gave me a bible with the area "Palestine "clearly marked.
Pre 1948 edition obviously.
Trump is a troll...nothing more nor less.

“For us and for the entire world it will continue to be called the Gulf of Mexico.”
You wish.
iron man
to start it all off,
The persian gulf changed the to the arabian gulf. ~1918 methinks.
I am confused where is mexico? What was the mass of water called before Espagne granted mexico independence?
Zaphod
GuruMick
Of course. It is marked as an area, not as a state. As it still is today. And in the same bible you will not find any Syria or Jordan either.
As you show, names on maps can and do change.
wallace
So California has a right to be independent if they want?
The Greenland Inuit have expressed their desire not to be part of the US and if they were how would that be independence?
The US can't offer the social welfare programs they have from Denmark.
bass4funk
We shall see, nothing is written in stone so far. This is ongoing and developing

Another ludicrous move on the part of the convicted felon Insurrectionist-in-Chief.
Part and parcel on the MAGA (More Anarchy Guaranteed Ahead) idiocy.
ZENJI
Just ignore trump.

Interesting question, but irrelevant to Greenland, which is a self-governed territory right now, with a large party that wants full independence.
No they have not. Where do you get your (mis)information from?
They absolutely can. Supporting 50,000 Greenlanders is a lot cheaper than paying for millions of illegal migrants.

Nah, it does not make a difference. Still a nonsensical statement.
bass4funk
And by making that statement you achieved what?
That’s like ignoring your own pillow, no matter how much you try, in the end you will rest your head on it.
