These nodding buffoons in the Senate will be held responsible for everything that follows.

Back in the day, Republicans were known for having strong, unshakeable principles. They didn't really have any in reality, but at least they had that strong-willed image. Now even that is gone. They all fold like wet paper. Pathetic. You can already look forward to the "I was only following orders!" excuse once everything starts to crumble.

as he halts spending they appropriated and defending policies once anathema to mainstream GOP thinking

Poison pen groups in Hong Kong and Taiwan secretly funded by the US to demonize China are set to crash and be DOGEd.

The groups which dutifully spread tales about the "Uyghur genocide" and "oppressed" Hong Kong and Taiwan need emergency cash after the withdrawal of hidden dollars from Washington DC.

https://www.aspistrategist.org.au/with-us-funding-freeze-china-nonprofits-are-facing-extinction-they-need-emergency-assistance/

This comes from the Australian Strategic Policy Institute and the article written by Bethany Allen – a relentless China investigator, who now works for ASPI.

She fails to mention though that taking underhand cash from "adversary" nations for political interference is strictly illegal in the United States, and in Australia as well

ASPI I recall was the group that infamously issued aerial pictures of schools and buildings in China and falsely claimed that they were prisons in Xinjiang where the minorities were kept. The dead giveaway were the Chinese characters on various random municipal buildings. At least hire somebody who can read Chinese!

These nodding buffoons in the Senate will be held responsible for everything that follows.

With joyful glee.

Back in the day, Republicans were known for having strong, unshakeable principles.

Seems like they went back to their roots

In reality, They didn't have any, but at least they had that strong-willed image.

Now even that is gone.

With the former establishment, yes

They all fold like wet paper. Pathetic.

Not these bunch and it shows

You can already look forward to the "I was only following orders!" excuse once everything starts to crumble.

Just as they did under Pelosi

Trump unleashes a supercharged MAGA agenda and Republicans come aboard

Weak, pathetic, lemmings...just call them the Eunuch Party...not a "pair" or a backbone in the bunch...

They will be judged by history as anti-democratic fascists, just like their Fuhrer...

6 ( +7 / -1 )

a supercharged MAGA agenda

Trump is busy like the proverbial energizer bunny, issuing flurries of orders to bring back sanity and shine light on corruption. Looks like it is working.... the only way to drain the swamp is to attack if from all directions simultaneously, and that is what the Trump team is doing.

Great to see this, and the effect on Western Europe, where governments are still stuck in the woke elitist mindset will be interesting.

Waitesec.... so in your mind there is a bunch of weak eunuchs which are virulent fascists at the same time? Talk about confusing your talking points...

-1 ( +5 / -6 )

Just to be clear, they are the bad elites rather than the other elites you like?

Just trying to be precise here.

Not sure how influential Trump will be. He’s only got one term and may not even see it out given his age and decline.

Not sure how influential Trump will be. He’s only got one term and may not even see it out given his age and decline.

True. But this time it is not just Trump alone vs. the swamp; this he is joined by whole group of excellent people (some of them former democrats), and he has a picked a VP who is loyal to the "make America sane again" project and not a swamp traitor like last time.

Plus, right now he seems full of energy in spite of his horrible nutrition choices. The effect on Europe if the US abandons the globalist one world project will be immense.

What about those elites he brought in?

You don’t like elites.

2 ( +5 / -3 )

It's not like he needs to "test how far" they're willing to go. It's been self evident for a while now that they'll deep throat him and probably pay for the privilege.

I remember reading a harrowing account from a North Korean who had managed to escape to the South. She told stories of anyone considered as "insufficiently loyal" was essentially dragged up and executed in public.

While the US hasn't reached that state yet, I can imagine that pretty much every republican congressperson has such a scenario in the back of their mind.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

agenda, tearing down government agencies and taking actions fundamentally at odds with once-traditional party principles.

I do not see how transparency and cutting uncontrolled spending is "odds with once-traditional party principles". But hey, that is our "unbiased" media.

Incidentally, thanks to DOGE we now find out that Payments from the GSA went to the New York Times, Politico, the parent company of the Wall Street Journal, AP, the BBC, and more. Looks a lot of the legacy media that many here follow have financed by the swamp... in effect a psyop.

"Not sure how influential Trump will be. He’s only got one term and may not even see it out given his age and decline."

Luckily Vance is ready to step up in 4 years time and continue the job

Really? He hasn’t got Trump’s sales skills and has all the charisma of a wet fart. A bit too intelligent for some too.

No way he can pull in the kind of cultish adoration Trump does.

3 ( +6 / -3 )

Jimizo

Gabbard, RFK, and Jayanta Bhattacharya  are not "elites". Musk is rich, but now despised by the entrenched elites. You might want to fact-check your legacy media provided talking points.

Btw, it would not be surprising in the least if we found that the "Guardian" is also on the long list of swamp financed leftist propaganda mags.

-5 ( +3 / -8 )

Musk is rich, but now despised by the entrenched elites

So he’s not one of the elites? How about Trump? How about the other billionaires around him?

Who are the entrenched elites? The bad types? Is Soros one of them?

This is nothing to do with legacy media. You constantly rail against the elites but never clearly define who or what you are talking about. Get your definitions clear to start making sone sense. At the moment, you are tying yourself in knots.

1 ( +5 / -4 )

How is Robert Kennedy Jr., the son of Robert Kennedy, not part of the elites, exactly?!

3 ( +5 / -2 )

Btw, it would not be surprising in the least if we found that the "Guardian" is also on the long list of swamp financed leftist propaganda mags

Maybe. I only read the footy section.

Are the bad elites influencing those sections too?

2 ( +5 / -3 )

The media thing is a red herring. Governments all around the world rely on factual news sources -- not TV -- to know what's going on politically and economically and socially. What do you thing the spooks in embassies are doing? They start by reading every day, compiling briefs based on the press.

I would hope they read different "press" news and not just CIA financed western legacy news, that so many here seem to take their information from.

You seem completely ignorant of the fact that many people who support the Trump policy platform actually dislike Trumps theatrical bombast and often childish language. Vance is kind of the presidential version of Trump. Your stereotype of Trump supporters as a low IQ personality cult seems incredibly simplistic and misguided. But I suppose that is what the Guardian tells you.

-3 ( +4 / -7 )

I would hope they read different "press" news and not just CIA financed western legacy news, that so many here seem to take their information from.

I think they have to read everything. The point is, so-called western legacy news is also useful. Very different from TV (on both sides) that aims to lure viewers with emotional responses. The FT might not always be right, but you can bet it aims to be accurate, because credibility is critical. Same with the other print media. There's a ton of news that has zero interest in driving political affiliation. When will the BOJ next hike interest rates matters to governments because it affects mkts and economies, so they need to read news.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Whay different "press" exactly? Russia or China-backed news sources? Conspiracy theory websites selling supplements?

3 ( +5 / -2 )

It seems that much of the world’s legacy media and residue soon-to-be ex-power base still don’t understand the term and concept of a mandate. Denial is a; incredibly powerful force!

Rest of you, sit back and enjoy the show. The T man’s done more in four weeks than the Biden administration did in 4 years, and this is just the start. Enjoy the derangement syndrome in its final death swing too, look at it as you would anthropology. To us it’s friendly poking and banter, to them it’s something very very different! Hehe

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

I'veSeenFootage

Whay different "press" exactly? Russia or China-backed news sources?

Yes, all of it, plus independent reports. Different angles are important. If they´d limit themselves to the largely USAID (aka CIA, via some detours) financed propaganda media like the NYT and Politico, they would only re-enforce their own propaganda in a ridiculous echochamber. (Which sadly seems to have happened sometimes.)

Conspiracy theory websites selling supplements?

I dislike the supplement or gold ads as much as anyone, but that transparent source of income is a lot better than hidden support from the CIA or Soros. And as for conspiracy, how many of those have you gotten from the legacy media? Saddam WMDs, Moscoww peepee, hunter laptop, fine people etc etc? That list fills pages and goes on. Talking about barking up the wrong tree.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

The T man’s done more in four weeks than the Biden administration did in 4 years

He did everything... but lower the price of groceries, which is why most people elected him for.

President Trump is in open conflict with the ICC with a bill H.R.23 — 119th Congress (2025-2026) that I understand the democrats have blocked in the senate. Primary aimed at the 'Anti-Israel bias'

The question still remains as to if President Trump will use an executive order to impose sanctions.

Illegitimate Court Counteraction Act

This bill imposes sanctions against foreign persons (individuals and entities) who assist the International Criminal Court (ICC) in investigating, arresting, detaining, or prosecuting certain individuals.

The bill categorizes as protected persons (1) any U.S. individual, U.S. entity, or person in the United States, unless the United States is a state party to the Rome Statute of the ICC and provides formal consent to ICC jurisdiction; and (2) any foreign person that is a citizen or lawful resident of a U.S. ally that is not a state party to the Rome Statute or has not consented to ICC jurisdiction.

https://www.congress.gov/bill/119th-congress/house-bill/23

If this is an example of a supercharged “Make America Great Again” agenda, I suggest Donald Trump is serious in his push an agenda that mirrors his election campaign to the letter.

Even Democrats are leaving their party and joining the Republican Party, which is the only united major political party in the USA.

Trump has made history with his list of achievements in only the first two weeks of office.

Illegal border crossings are virtually wiped out, the stock market is at all-time highs, China, Russia, North Korea, and Iran are all in check, and Woke is gonzo!

The world is already a better place.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

The Trumpian Party replaced the Republican Party soon after the convicted felon and former Insurrectionist-in-Chief stormed into the political scene.

Trumpian politicians at all levels … national, state and local are looking for endorsements in there election and reelection campaigns, as well as funds to conduct their next political campaigns.

Like the $50 million in condom money for Gaza or thru "eating cats in Springfield " claim, nothing can be believed anymore.

Maga sucks it up though, like the gullible fools they are.

It,s as if an Alice in Wonderland tale has substituted for Encyclopedia Brittanica and nobody notices or even cares .

Has the entire nation of America suspended disbelief ?

You are being ruled and conned by a used car salesman

The Republican Party doesn't even exist anymore so I don't know how you make that claim.

Trump has made history with his list of achievements in only the first two weeks of office.

More like his list of crimes against the US.

Illegal border crossings are virtually wiped out,

Thanks Biden!

the stock market is at all-time highs,

Thanks Biden!

China, Russia, North Korea, and Iran are all in check, and Woke is gonzo!

I must have missed the part where any of these countries changed their positions one iota.

The world is already a better place.

The world is already a more dangerous place for America and Americans.

Al Jazeera isn't funded by the CIA and yet agrees with US mainstream media 100% of the time on the facts. Care to explain that?

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

From the AP article:

“If there was any doubt about it, the Republican Party’s complete acquiescence to Donald Trump, I think, was on full display this week,” said Charlie Sykes, a longtime conservative commentator turned prominent Trump critic. Sykes described it as “complete surrender.”

In his view, "Republicans have just made the calculation that pretty much nothing is worth antagonizing Trump at this point.”

Or, bear with me here liberal Associated Press talking heads, maybe they just agree with the directions he's setting. And, maybe their constituents are giving them positive feedback on the directions he's taking. And, maybe they are thinking about their chances for re-election if they go against the sentiments evidenced by the 2024 election results.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

The Republican Party doesn't even exist anymore so I don't know how you make that claim.

As if that's a bad thing, like the Dems, they too were a huge problem.

More like his list of crimes against the US.

No, the Dems are just angry they got caught and in the worst possible way.

Illegal border crossings are virtually wiped out,

Thanks Biden!

What are you talking about, at its peak last December, a recorded 1.2 million people were allowed into the country through El Paso, and now that number has gone down to 464 since last week, so if you want to thank Biden for letting people in, that's your call, but wiping out illegal crossings over the previous 3 weeks, that's Trump and Homan.

I must have missed the part where any of these countries changed their positions one iota.

Objectively the MAGA does not understand that oceans don't protect us anymore.

We in America have learned bitter lessons from two World Wars: It is better to be here ready to protect the peace, than to take blind shelter across the sea, rushing to respond only after freedom is lost. We’ve learned that isolationism never was and never will be an acceptable response to tyrannical governments with an expansionist intent.
