Their Imperial Majesties do a good thing to honor the empire's war dead. May they have safe travels.

Yep. Guess you have to do something... Can't just sit around collecting all our tax money.

Iwoto Island? That’s “Iwo Island Island.” It’s like saying Todaiji Temple. Personally I prefer the previous name, Iwo-jima.

Peace is the way forward. Humankind is thirsting for peace. Long live peace.

Exactly.

I am sure I don't have to point it out, but his Majesty will have to put his hands together for the approximately 18,000 young Japanese men who died or comitted suicide calling out 天皇陛下万歳! during February and March of 1945. Japan was a militant dictatorship during his Grandfather's days with the Imperial Army and Navy controlling the country's direction. And his father bore the burden of diplomatic recovery for a democratic Japan. Today the Emperor must carry the aspiration for peace on a tiny piece of land where Americans and Japanese gave their lives, in the face of the threats of War from the autocratic nations who simply have not learned anything from WWII.

Who is threatening war?

I used to fly to it like every week back in the late 80s. Went to the caves and to Mt Suribachi. One of the Coadt Guard guys said that before the had both male and female hosts but little by little the female goats died.

while I was outside the CG building sitting on a lounge chair reading the C-130 technical manual, I felt something warm in my leg.

Little did I know, their dog had pissed on me. Was I not pissed off.

As for IwoJima, I would plant all kinds of tropical plants and trees.

Who is threatening war?

Your beloved China.

"Xi Jinping Asks Troops To Prepare For War As Battle Drills Intensify Around Taiwan"

And Russia has gone beyond threatening, they're doing it.

Your quoting NDTV? Okay.

Did you actually read the article?

Here's what Xi is quoted as saying:

Xi said the military should "comprehensively strengthen training and preparation for war, (and) ensure troops have solid combat capabilities", state media CCTV reported.

Soldiers must "enhance their strategic deterrent and combat capability," Xi said.

Right. Isn't that what all militaries prepare for? Isn't that what they are for?

The only other quote they offer in this short article is:

Xi on Thursday said the Chinese military must "strongly safeguard the country's strategic security and core interests", according to the CCTV report.

Right. So again, pretty much a universal perspective on the purpose of a military.

I don't see a threat of war here at all.
