The opposition to future LDP government has to have a clearly define industrial policy.
A clear reform program, sector by sector, a credible defense foreign agricultural health policy.
Not just a competing wish list. all have to be funded
I suspect this election was a nationwide angry outburst of frustration, the harshest protest vote J people could deliver.
If the opposition parties seriously want to form government they will need to unite as never before behind a portfolio of policy credibility.
Not even a hint of playground petty political squabbling,

It will be Historical possibly Epic.

If you look at the history there is a reason he couldn't push through any of the changes that they had promised. The LDP controlled the Upper House (and still does) they blocked all the attempts to change laws by not voting on any of them forcing them to need to be resubmitted time and time again.
James
Well that's not going to happen while the LDP control the upper house which can ignore bills for law changes (no vote) making the lower house's veto strength worthless as all bills must go through an upper house vote.

Although I like the idea of the LDP stepping back, Noda had his chance before and couldn't do the job. Isn't there someone with new ideas?

Well he was a slightly better pm than Hatoyama.
