Humorous headline, if not borderline inappropriate. But kudos for the effort.

Whatever the taste Japanese will say oishii!
TaiwanIsNotChina
Only if Lula eats Fukushima fish.
kurisupisu
Kishida is on a sightseeing tour of Europe and South America on the taxpayer dime (yen)
The headline suggests something less than prime ministerial, more akin to a hedonistic foodie indulgence of wining and dining.

Lula is a good man, certainly in comparison. And, Brazilian beef is very good, primarily the grass-fed range beef although some would consider it a bit tough. Water shortages will eventually shut down Brazil as with most of South America with a few exceptions. Get ready for the world's population to go into "climate change shock" when things start going south quickly.

Nothing of consequence from this junket at tax payer's expense. I guess he could write a review of the wine and cuisine he enjoyed. BTW, I wonder if we'll get a chance to see the TOTAL travel expenses?
shogun36
Should be interesting.
Those Japanese people don’t pay Japanese taxes.
but maybe they’ll greet him like they greeted The Rock in Fast and The Furious.

Brazilian beef is delicious. Meaty and juicy.
BigP
Bring on the cheaper beef.
wallace
We buy Brazilian whole chickens. I have never seen the beef for sale. That is usually Japanese or Australian.
Yrral
Beef is not good for after 40, because beef is link to prostate gland cancer risk and risk of getting Madcow disease
wallace
An American who does not eat beef.
YeahRight
I doubt it as good as Maesawa-gyu or Kobe beef. Cheaper for sure.
Sh1mon M4sada
I doubt it would be cheaper than US or Australian beef. First there's the cut for JBS who has cornered the market. Then there's the clearing where the land is only fertile for a short period so more clearibg is required.
Grass fed US beef also taste good.
dagon
Vegan and no fan of beef nor Kishida's peregrinations in favor of his neo-feudalistic policies of no benefit to the Japanese people.
But Lula is pointing to a third way of democratic socialism, like Sanders in the US, that can point to a better outcome for developing and developed nations and prosperity for all.

I don't see the appeal of Brazil. Their economy is not a model for others. Every city has huge shantytowns crammed full of people living in abject poverty, shantytowns with no municipal services controlled by criminal gangs where police fear to tread. Their government and economy are not doing well by their people. Their government cannot control logging or mining, and cannot protect their indigenous population from being run off their land by mining and logging companies or farmers. They may have a different economic system but I don't see anything in it worth replicating among the wealthiest nations in the world. If you were a European, Australian, Canadian or American would you want to emulate Brazil and live like they do? Oh hell no!
The nations to emulate are nations like Norway, Finland, Luxembourg or Germany, or even France which is alone among the developed nations with a total fertility rate very close to replacement. Somehow these nations seem to do very well by their people, much better than Brazil does.

Kishida enjoying his GW holidays I see ...

I have not had Brazilian beef but Argentation beef while in Argentina and it was so good that it melted in mouth like butter.
Don't understand why 80% is American which is not really good.
Aoi Azuuri
Japan's PM enjoys trip with taxpayers money and tastes beef.
On the other hand, sufferers at Noto peninsula still lack even enough drinking water despite by indifference of LDP Kishida government despite 4 months passed from quake hit.
Press freedom index 70th, Japanese major media don't even criticize negligence of government.
kurisupisu
You’d think that beef would be the last item that the LDP wants to remember.
And Brazilian beef is readily available to order online in Japan or there’s a famous, long running restaurant in Kobe that will fill you up.
Patricia Yarrow
Sacrificing the Amazon rain forest for the sake of eating more beef. Pathetic.
Martimurano
Dagon: ....peregrinations....
This is word of the day, good one !
Pretty much sums up the life and times of Prime Minister Kishida !
Andy
Thousands of square miles of rainforest (the lungs of the planet) cleared for beef farming. Never mind, enjoy your steak and your tax payer funded holiday Fumio.
smithinjapan
“Please, take Prime Minister Fumio to eat steak at the best restaurant in Sao Paulo so that, the following week, he starts importing our beef.”
Yeah, ummm... right. IF they imported Brazilian beef, they'd mark it up drastically with tariffs. And nobody would buy it anyway because it's not Japanese and hasn't been injected with fat to pretend it's marbled, like some restaurants have done here.
dan
@smithinjapan ray of happiness aren't you !
TokyoLiving
No thanks, Kobe beef is the best..
no name given
Well, that's a failure. Suga was the one notorious for steak dinners...
Mr Goodman
What a ridiculous statement !
If he doesn't actually know how can he be sure ?
I find Australian beef to be certainly higher quality than Brazilian and less hormones and antibiotics to worry about
The price fluctuates
wallace
No scientific connections.

Brazil has the same right to deforestation as western countries.
Brazil beef cattle production systems can be considered as “grass-fed based”, since all breeding and rearing are made on pastures, and only 7.5% (Brazilian Association of Feedlot Producers), or even less, of the slaughtered cattle are finished on feedlots, and for a short period of time.
so much for the antibiotics misinformation.
obviously beef doesn’t cause cancer.
it will quadruple the strength of your mitochondria. If your mitochondria is strong you can’t get cancer
TaiwanIsNotChina
Countries have the right to burn coal, too, doesn't mean they should do it. Since rainforest is significantly better than regular forest for capturing carbon, Brazilian beef ought to be treated by the international community like it is toxic until it can be shown to not impact the rainforest.
TrafficCone
and hold western countries to the same standard
TrafficCone
Also, nothing more toxic than monocrop agriculture.
