Go pound sound, Chinese losers.

Japan has every right to congratulate President elect Lai and the DPP. The rejection of closer ties with the Communists sure is something to celebrate!

Well done, free, progressive and democratic Taiwan!

Picture looks like it’s from a 1950’s Communist Party.

-21 ( +2 / -23 )

Cant we all just get along

-8 ( +7 / -15 )

Don't like what Kamikawa has to say, eh. Well now you have tried to hurt Japan's feelings. And they don't care, bully boy. Kamikawa, me, and anyone else can say what we want to. "Congratulations, Lai." There. Eat that, China.

31 ( +32 / -1 )

Japan and others should have left a message at the same time for Xi to bugger off.

Picture looks like it’s from a 1950’s Communist Party.

The difference is no one mistakes Taiwan for a nightmare police state.

27 ( +29 / -2 )

"resolutely opposed"

Serial resolutely opposer - China should butt out and not interfere in Japan's affairs.

22 ( +23 / -1 )

And what will you do about it CCP? That's right ... NOTHING. CCP = Cry Babies.

23 ( +25 / -2 )

Suck it up, buttercup!

24 ( +26 / -2 )

China seems to be angry about everything, dreadful country. They gave the world Covid 19 too.

17 ( +19 / -2 )

If I were Japan, my reply would be:

"Thank you, China, for your message. Now, go take a long walk off of a short pier."

18 ( +20 / -2 )

Kamikawa act as a troublemaker puppet.

There’s a great deal to admire about the Taiwanese.

Dear Protestant,

I couldn't agree more.

9 ( +10 / -1 )

China doesn't get a veto on Japan's foreign policy.

Xi can cry and stomp his feet all he wants, like the overgrown child he is. It won't change a thing.

17 ( +19 / -2 )

China needs to face the reality that the people of Taiwan do not want to be governed by the CCP dictatorship. China can whine, complain and shake it's rattle but that;s not going to change reality,

18 ( +20 / -2 )

Dear China, CONGRATULATION'S TAIWAN.

14 ( +17 / -3 )

Taiwan Belongs To China. Take a look underwater. The Island Is A Continuation of the Chinese Mainland!!

-30 ( +1 / -31 )

Geopolitical positions are 'hardening', risks are rising, proxy wars and conflict spreading.

Taiwan's the next Domino to fall and Xi's motivation?

For Xi, he views Taiwan as a victim of the evil western global elitest greedy mind control cult. Translation?

Xi must save his lost sheep in Taiwan, and it's only a question of when and how, not if!

-13 ( +0 / -13 )

A big middle finger to the Middle Kingdom.

17 ( +18 / -1 )

Taiwan is a standing reproach to the CCP. The Taiwanese are everything China could be without the CCP. I think Xi Jinping and the rest of the CCP understand that and it, they understand the world sees this clearly and it scares the bejeezus out of them.

14 ( +15 / -1 )

I think Xi Jinping and the rest of the CCP understand that and it, they understand the world sees this clearly and it scares the bejeezus out of them.

It's one view. Xi's may also view democracy in decline. He often states, where are all these new democracies?

Rapid rise and growth of Xi led BRICS is based on nondomestic interference, partnership model, the multi world de-dollarization is here and growing fast.

Xi explains to BRICS members, and those wanting to join from across entire global south, Taiwan's perfect example of democratic western elites interfering in their society = fundamentally why BRICS so essential.

-10 ( +2 / -12 )

We express strong dissatisfaction and resolute opposition to this, and have lodged solemn representations with the Japanese side

Ok, thanks for sharing.

Take a look underwater, China belongs to Taiwan!

13 ( +15 / -2 )

Nobody cares what garbage China has to say!

11 ( +13 / -2 )

China is ABSOLUTELY right to protest to Japan against Japan's congratulatory message to Taiwan's newly elected DPP. It is none of Japan's business! It is none of the U.S.A's business, Taiwan is China's business.

-22 ( +2 / -24 )

“They (China) gave the world Covid 19 too.”

China also gave the world North Korea, yet they are so incredibly proud of themselves.

12 ( +14 / -2 )

Taiwan belongs to Taiwanese indigenous peoples. They have lived in Taiwan for at least 6500 years.

7 ( +8 / -1 )

“It is none of Japan's business! Taiwan is China's business. Thank you folks, you’re a great audience. I’m playing the Japan Today Forum all week.”

For Xi, he views Taiwan as a victim of the evil western global elitest greedy mind control cult.

...rather than what it actually is, which is a peaceful, modern democracy that has successfully transitioned from a one-party state through the will and efforts of its own people, and which is admired the world over.

Just shows you how warped Xi's view is.

11 ( +11 / -0 )

Well they would, wouldn't they, an entirely predictable response from a country that thinks it has a right to grab back another that doesn't want to be reclaimed. Well done Japan to stick up for the Taiwanese.

That doesn't explain why the US and others shouldn't resist this madness.

I think Xi Jinping and the rest of the CCP understand that and it, they understand the world sees this clearly and it scares the bejeezus out of them.

It's one view. Xi's may also view democracy in decline. He often states, where are all these new democracies?

Democracy, like civilization, requires many years to bake in human rights, civil society, and freedom of information. Someday Russia and China will get there but they have a very long way to go.

Yes the "Yuan without principles" is very popular but ultimately unsuccessful.

Hoping the Japanese people will help Taiwan by pressuring their government to stop acting like a da-kine mere chanclas of China and re-establish full diplomatic ties with the most Japanese-friendly country in the world!

Bravo President William Lai and God Bless Taiwan and Japan!

9 ( +9 / -0 )

Oh dear, Poor China, has had its fee fee's hurt again. Maybe as a consolation, Japan should offer to sell them more fish....lol!

12 ( +12 / -0 )

Really? It just goes to show you that not only does the Chinese Communist Party want to control the world but free speech and freedom overall.

9 ( +10 / -1 )

China opposes Japan's congratulatory message to Taiwan president-elect

Tough luck China, Taiwan has nothing to do with you!

Well done Japan, and congratulations to the newly elected leader of the nation of Taiwan.

11 ( +11 / -0 )

Pretty pathetic sight from mainland China. Just a few months ago they were all jazzed up and giddy over banning Japan's seafood exports, and now they are crying over a short congratulatory message?

I say let them cook, they are just digging themselves a deeper hole at this point.

9 ( +9 / -0 )

Don't like it? Tough

8 ( +8 / -0 )

china and their childish tantrums....

6 ( +6 / -0 )

You know you’re doing the right thing when the CCP opposes it.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

We should follow South Park's example apology to China:

Like the NBA, we welcome the Chinese censors into our homes and into our hearts. We too love money more than freedom and democracy. Xi doesn’t look just like Winnie the Pooh at all. Tune into our 300th episode this Wednesday at 10! Long live the Great Communist Party of China! May this autumn’s sorghum harvest be bountiful! We good now China?

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Congrats to the new president of Taiwan. Taiwan is such a nice country compared to it’s neighbor country China.

8 ( +8 / -0 )

As predictable as 'woman has baby'.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

@stormcrow: China also gave the world North Korea

Though Mao, those who followed him and their forces have helped North Korea become the mess it is, I think Stalin and the Soviet Union had more responsibility in establishing a Stalin-type cult of personality with the Kims in charge. Xi and Putin want to carry on the Mao-Stalin approaches by installing the NK models throughout the globe, in their ongoing efforts to further weaken and eventually destroy democracies everywhere.

Taiwan Belongs To China. Take a look underwater. The Island Is A Continuation of the Chinese Mainland!!

The formation of Taiwan was formed by the convergence of sea plates and is not a continuation of mainland China that just happens to break the surface of the ocean.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

The next grotesque news from China will be that Japanese need a visa from Beijing to go visiting Taiwan.

The Chinese communist government doesn’t understand that Taiwan just has a lot of immigrants from mainland China and in spite of Koumintang/ Shankaisheek decades of terror, Taiwanese are not Chinese and just like Mongolia, Uyghuria and Tibet or Singapore does not belong to China…….

5 ( +5 / -0 )

@Stephen Chin Aren't you Canadian? So then by your own definition this is not your business either!

5 ( +5 / -0 )

The dreadfully deceitful CCP can 'resolutely oppose' Japan's congratulatory message to the new Taiwanese President-elect as much as it likes, but the reality is that China needs to told very loudly and clearly by the leaders of the rest of the free world to get her filthy hands off Taiwan right now - it has never been a part of China, and hopefully never will.

The Taiwanese people have chosen a democratic way of life and completely rejected the authoritarian autocratic style which China represents - why can't China just understand and accept this rejection and stop the trouble-making ??

6 ( +6 / -0 )

hahahahaha

Tough for Winnie the Pooh!

XiXiPee and their cult members, being angry and sad when people are happy.

…….By this very same thought process….China belongs to Taiwan…. Lol

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Japan opposes China about opposing Japan about congratulating Taiwan.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

Give Xi a pacifier and a pamper and tell him to suck it up!

9 ( +9 / -0 )

Taiwan Belongs To China. Take a look underwater. The Island Is A Continuation of the Chinese Mainland!!

That is the weakest argument ever.

Mexico is literally connected to the US by land. Does this make Mexico a US province?

I’d love to hear your opinions on European border agreements. Or does china habitually claim all land that it has a geographical connection to as its own?

Pick it up.

Turn it round.

"made in China"?

Put it down.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

Pick it up.

"made in China"?

Put it down.

Yes! I do that every time I shop.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

Taiwan belongs to Taiwanese indigenous peoples. They have lived in Taiwan for at least 6500 years.

Right and Lai’s people just comes over from mainland China and takes over.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

with your so-called collective “support” you will receive a second Ukraine. China itself will sort out its long-standing historical disputes and disagreements. If Western countries had not interfered with their “advices,” then China and Taiwan would have lived as one family for a long time. Ordinary people live normally under any system and there is no difference for them. The main thing is that there is no war.

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

Pick it up.

Turn it round.

"made in China"?

Put it down.

Problem is, the thing falls to pieces the moment you pick it up.

Good luck getting it home and making it work any longer than two days!

Doing an Internet search for S23E02 still works in finding and viewing the "Band in China" episode. Funny stuff.

Japan opposes China's opposition to Japan's congratulatory message to Taiwan's president-elect.

That should be the new headline.
