It’s too bad Abe’s no longer around.

Golf, pretty ladies and hamburger diplomacy is the way to go with Trump.

You have to feel sorry the Japanese taxpayers, when you have these politicians who understand little about geopolitics and do as they are been told by Washington: purchasing billions of dollars of American weapons which serve only to destabilize the continent, without even trying any form of diplomacy with the main neighbor country, China, which would bring peace and prosperity. And the warlords in Wall Street celebrate this incredible subservient frame of mind.

If there came a day when Japan no longer had issues with its neighbors or distant countries, would it still need the U.S. partnership?

If there came a day when Japan no longer had issues with its neighbors or distant countries, would it still need the U.S. partnership?

Japan will always side with democratic countries, with or without the U.S.

What it won't do is side with autocratic nations like China and Russia.

The problem is that in most cases the U.S. partnership is finalized to be dependent on the US big industrial military complex. which means i.e.: either the Japanese government spends $50 billions of dollars for social programs for the nation (financial support for young families, education plans, health assistance), or you give it to Washington to get the military deterrence in order to justify the continuous warmongering against China. Which in turns means less trade with neighbors, peace and prosperity. More tensions.

This is when the politicians should step in, but they don't.

Japan must increase its spending on defense to boost the US-Japan alliance. Trump is not going to tolerate a country spending 1.2% of its GDP while facing close-range China threats. Period.

If buying weapons means less trade with China, than some disgusting sanctions are afoot.

No, but what is this fanciful day when both russia and China collapse?

xin xin

Japan must increase its spending on defense to boost the US-Japan alliance.

That is what the US industrial military complex is pushing for, together "possibly" with another war conflict Middle East style, where Japanese taxpayers like you are in for more taxes, and the warlords in Wall Street makes more money. That makes sense for you, or you have not figured it out yet? :)

A stronger Japan objectively stabilizes East Asia. Japan hasn't threatened anybody in 80 years.

Careful Japan, it's a dirty trap..

Time to move away from the States. When we see Musk supporting far right parties, it is time for Japan to act
