Is it ironic that the Chinese even reuse frying oil that is thrown into the sewers?

When it comes to environmental issues, China should take measures to prevent pollution within its own country, and the Chinese do not know that the wastewater emitted by China's nuclear power plants is many times the amount of tritium emitted from Japan's Fukushima.

In the first place, statements made by China, which has not been inspected by the IAEA, are a trivial matter. If there are countries that agree with this, they are presenting themselves as saying that we cannot understand scientific evidence.

"If this nuclear wastewater is safe, it should be stored in Japan. The fact that it's dumped into the ocean shows that it is not safe," he said.

He got it right! JICA foreign aid just can't shut his consciences for his people! Well done Sogavare !

Of course he is, otherwise china would take back their money from him

We eat fish most days. No problem.

The fact that it's dumped into the ocean shows that it is not safe," he said.

No, it doesn't show that at all: logically, the two things do not follow.

It could show many different things, including the correct one, which is that safe water is being released in a controlled way into the ocean, with independent, international monitoring.

When he's taking money from the Chinese government to put out nonsense statements like this, he really should check his script beforehand.

Never miss an an opportunity do you.

I guess they will follow their CCP master now.

The problem is Japan is producing untreated contaminated water everyday, even this moment, and have no place to store it.

Hurry and decommission the Fukushima plant already. The sooner the better.

The problem is Japan is producing untreated contaminated water everyday, even this moment, and have no place to store it.

That's what the tanks are for: to store the water. TEPCO is then releasing water once it's treated.

I and many others have told you this before. Still, though, you will continue to post your pro-China, boilerplate lines, as expected.

Hurry and decommission the Fukushima plant already. The sooner the better.

That's exactly what they're trying to do. And to do so they need the space that the tanks are currently occupying; hence the release.

The leader of Solomon Islands, who has developed close ties with China

Should chose your friends carefully!!! China will run you over and spit you out like garbage!

@Paul

Should chose your friends carefully!!! China will run you over and spit you out like garbage!

You think Japan won't do that, take look with Afghan that work in Japanese embassy in Kabul. Those Afghan stay while in Japan, then Japan kick them out. That's what happened when Japan no longer those poor people.

It will take more than 50 years to resolve the disaster.

can not find better logic!!

Whatever we may think about the release of the water, it must be noted that this guy has been bought by the Chinese. Yes, he is enriching himself by allowing China more influence in the Solomon Islands. Australia has raised concerns over the past year, but the dude prefers his cash and luxury items.

Sogavare has sold himself and his country out to China. The people of the Solomon Islands will suffer in the long run.

This event has been exploited by dirty politics. The impact will be measured. Bard AI Google is the source of information: "a variety of scientific instruments that can be used to measure the radioactivity impact of Fukushima wastewater in the sea close to Japan and up to other countries, such as China, Korea, Russia, and the Solomon Islands. These instruments include:

Geiger counters: Geiger counters are portable instruments that can be used to detect and measure gamma radiation. They are commonly used for monitoring radiation levels in the environment and for personal protection.

Scintillation counters: Scintillation counters are more sensitive than Geiger counters and can be used to detect a wider range of radiation types, including alpha and beta radiation. They are often used in laboratory settings for research and analysis.

High-purity germanium (HPGe) detectors: HPGe detectors are the most sensitive type of radiation detector and can be used to measure very low levels of radioactivity. They are often used in environmental monitoring and nuclear medicine.

In addition to these instruments, there are also a number of other methods that can be used to measure radioactivity in the environment, such as water sampling, sediment sampling, and biological monitoring.

To measure the radioactivity impact of Fukushima wastewater in the sea, scientists would typically use a combination of these instruments and methods. For example, they might use a Geiger counter to get a general idea of the radiation levels in a particular area, and then use a scintillation counter or HPGe detector to take more precise measurements. They might also collect water and sediment samples for analysis in a laboratory.

By using these instruments and methods, scientists can track the movement of Fukushima wastewater in the sea and measure its impact on the marine environment. This information can be used to assess the risks to human health and the environment, and to develop strategies for mitigating those risks.

Here are some specific examples of how these instruments are being used to monitor the radioactivity impact of Fukushima wastewater:

The Japanese government has deployed a network of radiation monitors along the coast and in the ocean to monitor the levels of radioactivity in the water.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is working with the Japanese government and other countries to monitor the radioactivity levels in the marine environment around Japan.

The United States government is also monitoring the radioactivity levels in the Pacific Ocean and is working with other countries to assess the risks to human health and the environment.

These monitoring efforts are essential for ensuring that the release of Fukushima wastewater does not pose a significant risk to human health or the environment." (by BARD)

The fact that it's dumped into the ocean shows that it is not safe," he said.

After that ALPS filter it becomes a clean, desalinized, pristine water.

Japan should pump it back to the sanitary water system.

Such a waste to dump it into the oceans.

"If this nuclear wastewater is safe, it should be stored in Japan. The fact that it's dumped into the ocean shows that it is not safe,"

Logical discussion is clearly not this fellow's strong suit.

How many non sequitors in just those two sentences?

I just got back from China and it is a disaster there. The economy is about to go up in flames. Isolating yourself from the rest of the world pretty much never has a good outcome for the population.

They have much bigger problems.

I just got back from China and it is a disaster there. The economy is about to go up in flames.

Which is why the disgusting ccp leaders will try to distract their increasingly anti-ccp and angry population....by provoking Japan or invading Taiwan. Standard playbook tactic of drumming up patriotism by distracting the population from their economic woes.

"If this nuclear wastewater is safe, it should be stored in Japan. The fact that it's dumped into the ocean shows that it is not safe," he said.

Japan has indicated the wastewater is below unacceptable limits . . . Fukushima should not be forced to keep the waste water on their land, produced by a nuclear facility which was built with foreign technology, but should be allowed to release the water within safe international standards as other nations have done . . . . The dilution of the water within the greater body of ocean water should further make the water release acceptable . . . . let's be fair . . . .

My grandfather used to say that losers have nothing good to show the world. So, in order to look "better" than others, they cook up non-existent problems and blame others for it. It's the psychology of the common thugs, people without honor.

So many new-colonialist commentators. I support the Solomons' right to choose partner countries and to criticize others respectfully.

Pacific islands have a sad nuclear legacy, see France and the USA.

Solomon Islands Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare is very right.

Telling the truth is not politics.

Only the immoral perpetrators of the radiation bleaching of the World's Oceans are using politics to cover their crimes against humanity.

The leader of Solomon Islands, who has developed close ties with China

Summed up the context of the article.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Solomon Islands was bought by the CCP. They need to learn to think for themselves.

One more time, China releases 100x more tainted nuclear waste per year than Fukushima will over the next 40 yrs. Further, the Fukushima released amounts are well below international standards, unlike the Chinese amounts released.

If it isn't clear, read that again. Get your facts straight. Please.

quercetumSep. 23  06:04 pm JST....................................The problem is Japan is producing untreated contaminated water everyday

I suggest you learn about the Untreated nuclear wastewater that China dumped into the ocean everyday from their nine nuclear sites. But then, you would rather believe in Chinese BS than the truth.
