There are more series being made, some good, some really bad. It's the same with movies. Whether it's movies or series the quality varies on either side!
A series gives more time for character and story development. Movies are limited to a certain time limit, usually 1.5 to 3 hours. There's only so much that can be done in such a short time.
Of course, that doesn't mean that there aren't really good movies or really bad TV series, but I'm just saying that overall, TV has a better shot at it.
Many Kdrama are better than any of the movies shovelled out nowadays, but the domestically produced, clumsy, preachy 'issue drama' from the BBC and ITV, is dreadful. UK TV used to be very good, but they have forgotten how to entertain people. Too many agendas to pander to.
Foreign TV and movies are quite good. Movies in the US leads to sequels and successful TV shows lead to copycatting. The foreign films have genuine stories, as do the the TV series. Subtitling is not for everyone (dubbed is almost always bad) but the fresh and original shows are worth watching. Kdramas are popular now, but Jdramas are just a little better. Less popular are French, Dutch, and other European countries that don't have to make 3.5T in the first week or be failures. American. . .well, they might sometimes make an accident and be good.
There are good shows and good films. The problem with shows nowadays is that it has a high probability of not getting renewed past its premiere season - Netflix, I'm looking at you. This has made me leery of getting into a new show because I've lost count of the number of shows I've invested in only for it to get axed.

TV shows that take their time to develop their characters and plot are always great IMHO.
