quote of the day

Information about halal food and prayer is essential for Muslims, yet until now, there hadn’t been a multilingual, nationwide tool to provide it.

Ikuto Hongu, the 25-year-old CEO of Halal Navi, is a free app that directs users to restaurants offering halal food, mosques and other prayer rooms. The app also serves as a platform for Muslim visitors to Japan to share practical tips.

@Mr Kipling

Those tourist not the one who really need it but Japanese business establishment that really need those tourist money. The fact that more and more business establishment and services in Japan provide their diet needs, it shows that more and more tourist from those countries are coming.

Exactly.

And catering to people's needs and being sensitive is not a bad thing. If the original statement was geared towards vegetarians, no one would be saying that

I am so glad that I gave up religion and all its silly dietary and other rules.

It's only that we unbelievers in Western democracies think we should provide and pamper them with halal food, mosques, prayer rooms and such. The Muslims are only obliged to act accordingly to their religion within the dar-al-Islam, house of Islam, which describes own countries and territories. Outside of the Islamic part of the world , in the so-called dar-al-harb, house of war, they can and should live such only if they want and the conditions are available, but they by no means have to do. If there's only non-halal equal haram food available , like alcohol and porc meat, theoretically, they can consume it too. The same for prayers which can then be done silently, standing, only one time instead five times a day, and so on. I recommend a bit more pragmatism and that they have to abide to the conditions they find elsewhere, not us making our world compatible and pleasant only for them.

We use Gyomu which sells Halal foods. Kobe is a good city for Halal foods and restaurants.

@Sven Asai

Which clerk you are following that's so misleading, and by now no excuse for those people to live like that, why because now mosque and halal store are everywhere, if not they can still go to places that cater vegan/vegetarian diet.

Our world? Whose world is this world?

Business communities in Japan more and more interested to serve their needs, again money talks. https://univdatos.com/report/halal-tourism-market/

So do we. The frozen Brazilian Halal chicken there is the cheapest we have found and it is a godsend (no pun intended) in this time of inflation.

We buy two at a time for ¥900 each. I do a rotisserie roast in my air fryer oven.

Jewish customers require certain needs as well, but it is always "Muslim things " that set people on edge.

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

Kosher foods for Jews are also available but the Jewish community is a smaller one. About 1,000 people or 10% of the Muslim community.

The app on the topic was set up by the Muslim community without any public funding.

Japanese Jaonist who number about 5,000 require a vegan diet. They don't eat meat, fish, eggs, root vegetables, or animal ingredients.

Japanese Jainists

Wallace....are "Jainists " the ones who sweep the earth as they walk so as not to kill ants ?

What about white ants....the ones that eat houses from the inside out ?

Seems OK to stomp on them.

Just saying....not all ants are virtuous little beings.

A difference between persons truly follow the teachings of Buddha (I have no problem with that my much better non-married better half is vegan), I have lived in west asia, and earned good money there. no problem. they are good hosts. So bullet biting time for some of the above negative, what is the most populous Islamic nation on the planet and how long is the plane flight between KL... oops Jakarta and tokyo. their monied tourist spend, how to say bucks, mega dollars.

I do not know. They have a temple in Kobe and walk to the temple barefoot.

I've been in Japan closing in on 20 years and the number of Japanese people I've met who identify as vegetarian / vegan can be counted on the fingers of one hand. And that's not because the subject doesn't come up; it very often does because I'm a vegetarian myself and we all know that among the first things a Japanese person will ask you when you meet them is "what's your favorite Japanese food"? So I start off on the "well, a great deal of it is out of bounds for me because..." and it all goes from there.

The concept of a Japanese Jain is quite mind bending, but if they're out there, more power to them.

The hell with that. Their problem

The ones I saw in Kobe were all Indians.

The Muslims solved their problems without public assistance.

Dietary retrictions for health/medical reasons are fine. But while I respect every person's right to choose their dietary restrictions, whether out of personal beliefs or convictions, or following a religious practice, I personally think it's just plain silly.

Why? Because when you get older (and we all do) you may find your diet being restricted for medical reasons. The violations of which may result in worsening your condition or even lead to death at worst. There are many patients who must follow a restrictive diet to ensure that they will continue to live. Some moderate, some severe.

It seems silly to me that a person who has no dietary medical reasons at all should willingly restrict their diet.

According to Islam teachings any meal could become Halal as long as you bless it with prayers before consuming except for the obvious and forbidden ones like Pork products, Alcohol drinks. and so on.

When it is a burden or difficult for a Muslim to get the Halal processed foods like cheese, Dairy products, meats, and so on then preforming Islamic prayers and blessings prior to consumption is accepted and tolerated due to the circumstances.

"" The hell with that. Their problem ""

No one is seeking assistance here, Muslims have plenty of cash to take care of their issues unlike some others without mentioning .
