Love the pic of him and his dog. He trained him to perform the first "pitch" for a game recently, as well.

No guarantee he’ll ever be able to pitch again.

People don’t realize how rediculous 50HR is with 50SB. That means he hit homers and at the same time gets on base a lot.

Ohtani had a great season, but was outperformed by Judge.

"When you look at Ohtani, the image of the Japanese as physically smaller or inferior people just disappears," said Tokyo-based author Robert Whiting

"Inferior people" - seriously? This writer is still using such an outdated racial stereotype in 2024?

Anyway, it was an extraordinary season by Ohtani. He broke plenty of records - and will likely do so next year too! Good luck in '25!

Actually he is clearly pointing out the folly of the racial stereotype, not trying to spread it.

I hear you but you can't tell people who don't know the game anything. By all current metrics, Judge was the best player in baseball this year. Higher average, played the field, led in more statistical categories. If Ohtani were still in the AL, he would probably finish second to Judge in the MVP voting.

Agreed about MVP voting.

And Judge played in the field everyday; Ohtani was dh.

Judge is the first and only player to hit 50+ home runs, steal double digits bases, and not get caught stealing.

Barry Bonds stole 50 bases in a season. He also hit 73 home runs in a season.

Aaron Judge was a DH in 41 games this season, so deduct those stats. Bobby Witt Jr. is the AL MVP.

This is a pretty weak point in favor of Judge. He only stole 10 bases.

Other than that though I kind of agree. Judge had higher WAR, OPS, BA, HR and RBI than Ohtani. Ohtani had more runs, more SBs and more hits than Judge, but on balance Judge probably gets the nod.

That's the thing with Ohtani. He makes the extraordinary seem normal. Hitting about 30-40 homers a year would seem excellent for most major leaguers. But for Ohtani, that seems like normal or a "down-year".

Witt had almost 100 more at bats than Judge but had 20 fewer home runs. This is truly a historic season displayed by Judge. Especially given that the Yankees have much less offensive threats than the Dodgers yet the Yanks still came out on top in their division. Judge virtually singlehandedly carried the Yankees this season.

And I hate the Yankees.
