David Beckham is 50 years of age, 50! Can you believe it?

Well he has been very successful and he has done charitable things so no doubt he deserves the honour, don’t you think?

How about awarding a knighthood to my neighbour who for forty years worked with special needs children, and now retired on a tiny pension, helps so many people in our neighbourhood. Beckham has got this after endless lobbying and self promotion. The honours system in the UK is a joke.

Sid

You can write in and recommend someone for their services, whether they take notice is possibly another matter.

Compared to a thug like Roy Keane and a wokester like Linekar, Beckham is a decent candidate.

Yep.

Victoria later received the same award for services to the fashion industry

Not knocking any honest industry but aren’t their more worthy recipients of awards?

Roy Keane an unusual comparison give that he’s Irish.

Much of the honor system is based on the British Empire, which no longer exists. We need a new system.

Keane, yes. If you're going to try and paint Gary as a "wokester", at least spell his name correctly. It's "Lineker".

A knight in shining armour, going back to the origins of chivalry, protecting the weak, etc.
