Elect "minority", so you get less backlash for your corruption, because "look IOC is so SDG, and all other alphabets, we are liberal, we can't be corrupt!"

Well played IOC. Play them cards to cover those improprieties! Very clever move.
Isn't it amazing that diversity, which started with good intentions, became a tool for cover ups and corruption. How did that happen? It’s because they think we are all that stupid.
GuruMick
I think she is a good choice....notwithstanding IOC history.
Sports Minister, Olympian, woman, African ....good changes from the usual.
Silvafan
She is a "White woman" with an African passport. She is the model example of Caucasian women being the number #1 beneficiary of civil rights and DEI movements!
asdfghjkl
OMG I know we go on about diversity but the first African IOC president being a white woman wildly seems off……And let’s be honest, nothing will change. It will still be a totally corrupt organization. Just a new mask.

Good luck with that farce..

At least Seb 'its all about me' Coe missed out again. Good.

Plus "Africa " a BIG CONTINENT with many, many varied people from the top to the bottom.
Do all Africans have to be black ?
Nope.
GuruMick
This woman was born in Harare...Mugabe called her "OUR golden girl "
Unless posters want to call her a "blanc " and allow "blanc only swimming pools " she is an African.
Read her wiki page.
NOT a DEI hire. Very substantial person.
Silvafan
For the record, he did not call her "African."
Silvafan
Second, that reasoning makes no sense.
GuruMick
Silvafan....what is the real reason for your animus toward this woman ?
GuruMick
For the record ...you have no idea how Mugabe characterised this woman.
I think we a dealing with a genes and chromosomes argument when it is really a simple matter of place of birth determining, and supported by Courts etc., whether your nationality is birth based.
Memo to doubters...it is.
White people, born in African countries , are allowed to identify as African, from the nation they were born in.
I,m surprised to even have to point this out in 2025

Congratulations to Kirsty Coventry.

What does race have to do with her congratulatory title? Since when is it a requirement for this role?

Congratulations, Dada yangu, from the other mother and be blessed in your endeavors.

The 2024 Paris Olympics proved that the once glorious, wonderful inspiring celebration of sporting excellence is now an altar to a toxic cultural, identity political battleground, ruthlessly exploiting 21st century geopolitical tensions.
An example, the opening ceremony controversy involving drag queens at the supposed formal dinner setting, mimicking Leonardo DaVinci’s “The Last Supper”
Prompting an Olympic spokesperson to insist the spectacle is a parody of a pagan festival celebrating Dionysus, the Greek god of wine.
A signature Bach policy also has been gender parity, with equal quotas of men and women athletes at the 2024 Paris Olympics and giving a better balance of female members of the IOC and the executive board he chairs, which now has seven women among its 15 members, including Coventry.
The strongest candidates in a five-month campaign with tightly controlled rules drafted by the Bach-led IOC seemed to be Coventry
A foolish missed opportunity to change direction. The Olympic Games needs leadership, from the worthiest, merit driven candidate, not gender quotas.
The outrageous costs of hosting a 21st century Olympic Games must highlight the need to return the sporting festival to its rightful birth place, permanently.
Bach blatantly lobbied for Kirsty Coventry to be elected president of the International Olympic Committee, over a candidate that could have brought necessary change Bach refused to open to debate.

Let's first give her a chance and see whether she gonna change course or continue with the same old hogwash.
