At the current rate, COVD-19 cases in Tokyo should be peaking during the olympics.
"Difficult" is one way of putting it.

As Olympic athletes are somehow not able to carry the virus then we can all heave a sigh of relief then....

So experts who say "not a good Idea" are completely ignored in order to bolster the egos of old men who have achieved nothing whith their long lives being paid by tax payers. The most expensive summer games in history with no foreign spectators, Atherletes on lock down, then told to leave after their event. The decision making is myopic and totally focussed on the personal interests of a few. But that's what feudalism is about.

Sadly for Japan these Olympics have been a disaster from start to finish exacerbated by a failure of leadership.

there's a plethora of 'experts', in all manner of fields, who pronounce..... what we all knew anyway....
Happy Day
Why would it be difficult? It’s not like foreigners are going to bring in the virus.

The feeling I’m getting from many people here is that the (albeit) small amount of measures put in place over the last year to curb the spread of a pandemic are beginning to be an annoying infringement on their freedom, and so there is a broad sense of ‘shoganai’ and even willingness to ignore any measures. This bad attitude comes right from the top, and it’s there that the responsibility for the devastation that going ahead with these games will bring, lies.

Sound the Alarm!
We don’t think the Aso’s in the Diet even know ‘what’ Facebook is. Anyway, they would have to get Sakurada-san to show them how.

Celebrity torch runner Koji Yamamoto tests positive for Coronavirus:

Poor guy, I hope he recovers quickly. The torch relay is brought to you by Toyota and Coca-Cola.

But, ... we have been saying this over a year now.
"Olympics 'difficult' after virus spikes, Japan medical group warns"
Fighto!

You are BY FAR in the minority with your opinions. Over 70 percent of Japanese do not want the Games to go ahead. And the opinions of Medical Professors regarding the pandemic weigh a million times more than yours.

"Sadly for Japan these Olympics have been a disaster from start to finish exacerbated by a failure of leadership"
and Covid had nothing to do with it right?.

really big shame that he is the head of medical workers, and not of the Olympic committee. Then maybe we wouldn't be in so much trouble.
There it is. The super spreading has already started and we haven't even started the games yet. If they do hold the Olympics the cases will spike even more. But don't worry. They'll slow the testing down and keep the numbers down.

It is pointless to keep bring the LDP and the Olympic committee to it’s senses.
No pandemic, deaths or chaos will make them change their mind.
It is all about saving face, prestige and money.
virusrex
There is a reason why the medical experts that formed the original group were dissolved last year and replaced with people whose expertise is in unrelated fields.
GW
Medical workers, I believe the games need at least 10,000 of them, are all UN-paid for games related work, so they should start letting TOCOG know that they decided to no longer ""volunteer""

"Difficult" is the understatement of the year. LOL

Dangerousssssss,quicklyyyyyyyyyy,pleaseeeee

And Covid exposed it.

They canceled last year with much less, why are they forcing it this year.... oh yeah.... money

But vaccination will not be required and quarantine rules will be waived for Olympic participants..............................................................................sounds a bit dodgey to me.
It is a joke are these people running this show taking the pith ?
Goodlucktoyou
He (boss of JMA) should lose his job. The JMA should tell LDP that all doctors will go on strike unless the games are cancelled. 9% of deaths are health workers. If 9% of doctors die, how will Japan cope with the aging population?
AramaTaihenNoYouDidnt
Don't need to be rocket science to figure this out.
GdTokyo
As the majority of us know, using the term "Difficult" (難しい) implies logistically impossible, unfeasible or they are just saying "No".
(The JMA conveniently forgets that it is one of the factors behind the slow roll-out of the vaccine.)
There seems to be a drip, drip, drip of momentum for cancellation.

Corruption scandals, sexist comment scandals, logo plagiarism, asbestos in Olympic venues, worker rights issues, rising sun flag controversy…….have nothing to do with the covid pandemic but it is all related to Japanese politicians and the Japanese Olympic Committee (almost all the aforesaid issues emerged before the pandemic).
So.....yes, Olympics have been a disaster from the beginning.
