DJT loves superstars, especially handsome rich champions like Otani!

As the economy crashes and the world burns due to his policies.

What a great honor to be commended by the Tariff man!

I really hope Sasaki finds his footing out of the starting season slump he's in. Has a bright career ahead of him, just needs to correct course while he's got the time with the Dodgers.

And is this even news?

That Trump 47 LA dodges shirt is going to be one sort after item in the future. Or does it belong to the tax paying USAmerican citizen ? Who actually owns such an expensive Presidential gift ?

No thanks. Don't want to shake Trump's hand. Ohtani is a great player, though. All the best to him.

"He looks like a movie star. He's got a good future," Trump said

maybe, if you don't get him deported

maybe, if you don't get him deported

Why would he get deported? Oh, that's trying to be funny?

While meeting with the Dodgers, Trump decided to take a savage swipe at loathsome California Democrat Senator Adam Schiff and the state’s far more anonymous senator Alex Padilla, who is also a Democrat. Both were in attendance for the ceremony.

“We have a couple of senators here. I just don’t particularly like them, so I won’t introduce them,” Trump quipped.

Upon hearing this, the audience and the Dodgers erupted in loud laughter.

OK, he's 47, but still, who needs praise from a convicted felon and sexual predator?

loathsome California Democrat Senator Adam Schiff

Schiff has integrity, which is a word missing from Trump's vocabulary.

Photo op with the man waging economic warfare against his home country.

Not a good look Ohtani.

"Trump praises Ohtani in celebrating Dodgers World Series championship."

Ohtani San is currently the greatest player in baseball also a great human being.

Apparently no Teoscar Hernandez nor Mookie Betts in the picture?

Fabulous joke.

I don’t like them so I won’t introduce them.

Maybe he could get the whoopee cushion out.

Smart, smart people, they get it.

@agondocz--those guys definitely attended. Betts was shown standing next to Ohtani. World Series MVP Freeman skipped it for health reasons. He was supposed to deliver the teams address, so instead it was read by Kershaw, a former star pitcher who spent 2024 on the bench.

The LA Times article about this says more about Roberts and Betts past distaste at the idea of meeting Trump.

World Series MVP Freeman skipped it for health reasons.

Some speculation out there that the health reason (sprained ankle) was a convenient excuse for Freeman to avoid attending. He is a dual Canadian-US citizen (played on Team Canada in the WBC) and this event was a lose-lose situation for him: Attend and make his Canadian fans angry, or be absent and make Trump fans angry. Bowing out due to an injury gave him a nice off-ramp to avoid both outcomes.

@rainyday--maybe simpler than that, I bet Freeman is prioritizing some private family time after his sons health scare last year. He said it would be better to strike out a million times than go through that again.

Plus you never know when a ketamine freak wearing a chedder wedge and dragging a nose-picking toddler could barge into the oval office and kill the vibe.

Ohtani is a winner. Trump is not.

The left will never get it, too emotional, always mixing up issues no wonder they can't even define a woman that's how confused and sick this people are!! Let's sport be sports.

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

@cephus--since you are against politics in the sports section, do you have a Dodgers or MLB-related comment? What did you think of the way May pitched today? Any opinion on the new torpedo shaped bats? Guess we should avoid commenting on Manfred as that could verge into politics.

The GOAT meets a donkey.

I guess both feel honored. Stop the negative comments.
