O-tsukare-sama deshita.

I'm sure there's still a lot of data to be analyzed, so we'll be getting more out of this.

Good show, JAXA!

Many can go to the moon. What you can bring back to analyze is key.

It takes 1.3 seconds for light to travel from the moon to earth. That lander was looking at us 1.3 seconds in the past. More distance would mean looking further back in time.

Good jobs guys!

"The touchdown of the unmanned lander in January was a success, but it landed at a wonky angle that left its solar panels facing the wrong way."

LOL And that deserves the title "moon sniper" because...? Oh, right. Because of the "soft wonky landing"...facing the "wrong way". LOL.

I guess if I park my car perfectly inside the lines with no trouble...but then discover I have to climb out of my window to exit because I didn't take into account the surrounding cars...I, too, am a "sniper"? LOL I'm just having fun. Keep reaching for those stars, guys...

Fantastic achievement by SLIM! The investigations of the lunar surface will greatly assist in Japanese plans to land some of their citizens on the moon by 2040.

Hats off to JAXA, the SLIM engineers, and the Japanese government.

Well if you have some good weather forecast, communication with you family overseas and so much now by internet or others, that’s thanks to the satellite developments, part of the space development.

SLIM is also related to space development and the positive outcome for us residents of the earth will be know soon

Really?! Just a very few of the benefits of space science:

Improved communications.

Improved meteorology.

Improved agriculture and crop yields.

Better electronics.

Better healthcare.

And then there’s the plethora of products derived from space tech that have created benefits for people, jobs and wealth.

I know you’re just stirring, but some people actually do reject science as a waste of time and money. The last 500 years has delivered untold benefits to humanity. Stop it.

Yes, that's why the U.S. has not been back to the moon.

Good show, JAXA!

Before we can permanently settle the Moon we need to learn more about the strange environment and possible hazards. That means using robots.
