Excellent news, just make it happen

I understand "intellectual property" and "artificial intelligence", but what does  "the international popularity of Japanese anime" have to do with these two things?

In the intellectual property strategy for 2025, the country will take advantage of the international popularity of Japanese anime and the content of such movies that highlights local culture to help promote regional economies, expecting a total economic impact of around 1 trillion yen.

I would love to see thought process that allowed this group to arrive at the figure of 1 trillion yen. Seems wildly optimistic.

Japan's becoming irrelevant rapidly, as IP/patents collapsing and an AI nobody, with too little domestic energy, too few AI chips and far too little tech talent etc.

Above, why key reason why Japan's becoming poorer every year, GDP per capita etc., innovation is dead, as the tech talent brain drain only increasing daily etc.

Attention policymakers, tech talent FLEES any country where Govt. tries to control innovation, like Japan!

With the way wages and living standards are here, I just can't see that much foreign talent coming. And what, are they going to be able to do everything in English? Probably will have to use AI just to communicate. The irony.

Nice to see them wearing Okinawan Kariyushi shirts!

Bending over for Mr Trump again.

And still using PET bottles for their drinking water!

Leaders!!?

And still using PET bottles for their drinking water!

Coca-cola's water at that! In a country where most tap water is eminently potable. So much for SDGs.

Some ministers wore kariyushi

While others chose the more socially comfortable karoushi suits

Again using big words without understanding the context.

To boost innovation, Japan needs to make fundamental changes in education (and parenting), whilst promoting on talent rather than age in the workplace, and prioritising innovation over consensus. It will not do this.

AI will take Japan no further than the metaverse, blockchains and NFTs did, but it will see a lot more JPY transferred to the USA to pay for it.

And if you ask an expert (or even an AI that has been scraping the net) what foreign talent Japan actually needs, they will highlight the UN's recommendation for lots more migrant farmers, carers and other manual workers. Japan wont do that either.

I think Japanese innovation is hampered not by lack of skilled engineers, because Japanese engineers are no less skilled than those in other countries, but by conservative management. A lot of innovation is not brought to market because management is more concerned with avoiding failure than with pursuing success.

But what is interesting about this article though is that Japan might recognize the patent rights of the developers of AI used to create inventions. So, if I use ChatGPT to invent something, the people behind ChatGPT might get a stake in my patent, and thus a right to the money it generates.
