The first of the year with many more to come, The land of the free and the deranged.

So the US is deranged for having a few mentally ill among its 330 million people?

So the US is deranged for having a few mentally ill among its 330 million people?

The number of mass killings in the US and the staggering number of people killed by gunfire are without precedent in the developed world. There is something exceptionally wrong in the US that people feel a need to resort to killing others with firearms in the numbers one sees in the US. It is not a problem any level of government can solve on its own either. It is a society as a whole that is sick, angry and remorseless that unfortunately worships firearms and considers their possession more valuable than life itself.

Well, we already know everything about this, according to Donald Trump!

Must have been an illegal alien.

According to Marjorie-what's-her-name he came in 2 days ago across the Eagle Pass border.

If anyone believes those statements, I have to question mental abilities.

Fact: he was a veteran, a resident from Houston, Texas.

US citizen born in the US and a former US Army veteran with an honorable discharge.

Just like the attack at the German Christmas market, this is yet ANOTHER tragic example of what happens when our leaders prioritize political correctness over the safety of their own citizens. How many more innocent lives need to be lost before we wake up to the dangers of radical ideologies infiltrating our communities? The time to put America first, defend Western values, and demand accountability from those who have let this happen has come. Enough is enough.

-6 ( +19 / -25 )

Radical Whites are no different, Whites are involved in more terrorist plots than any conceived Islamic terrorists plots in America

-20 ( +7 / -27 )

Just like the attack at the German Christmas market, ..........................The time to put America first, defend Western values, and demand accountability from those who have let this happen has come. Enough is enough.

So the perpetrator of the attack in Germany was an immigrant from Saudi Arabia who was harshly critical of Islam and was a vocal opponent of allowing Muslims to immigrate to Germany. Apparently didn't see the irony in this as such a policy would have prevented him from entering Germany. He was a psychiatrist who specialized in addiction medicine for over two decades in Germany. He was a supporter of the far right AfD party.

The attack in New Orleans on the surface seems to have been committed by a US born US Citizens who served the US Army honorably but somehow became an IS supporter.

Two completely different kinds of people with different ends.

13 ( +22 / -9 )

Yrrai

Please spare us the nonsense.

And it’s really not “radical ideologies”, but “radical idealogY”.

Actually, I think countries in Europe - like Germany - have a worse problem with it than the U.S. at present.

4 ( +14 / -10 )

It was a tragic New Year's Day for the victims, family, and friends.

1 ( +7 / -6 )

He didn't hit as many people as that guy in China did nor did he kill as many. https://www.reuters.com/world/china/chinese-police-detain-man-after-hit-and-run-attack-leaves-several-wounded-2024-11-12/

OTOH, anyone trying to harm others without a specific, good, reason, has a mental disorder. As they dig deeper, they will uncover and others who pushed him this way and take down those organizations.

1 ( +6 / -5 )

So, being a Muslim and a member of Isis was the stimulus for Shamsud-Din Bahar Jabbar to maim and kill?

Or neither?

One or the other?

What is relevant is that the US and Germany are starting to deport those incompatible with western values.

-3 ( +8 / -11 )

Kuris,he was born in America,he could of not been deported,we do.not have a culture test in the US ,as long as you abide by the law,you can generally do what you want

-3 ( +7 / -10 )

What is relevant is that the US and Germany are starting to deport those incompatible with western values.

He was a US citizen born in the US. You can’t “deport” such individuals.

8 ( +15 / -7 )

The death toll is now 15.

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

He was a US citizen born in the US. You can’t “deport” such individuals.

.

In this case, the option wasn’t available but being shot to death was…

-9 ( +4 / -13 )

US citizen born in the US and a former US Army veteran with an honorable discharge.

And importantly.... A recent convert to ISLAM.

-8 ( +9 / -17 )

All American terrorists and mass killers come from all religions. New Orleans had added security for the coming Super Bowl. Difficult to make it 100%. In 2024 there were five Islamic terrorist attacks or attempts. In 2023 there were none. In 2024 there were nearly 400 mass killings.

-2 ( +7 / -9 )

It’s gotten so bad that it’s more surprising to see a religious holiday like Christmas come and go peacefully than it is to see it marred by heinous violence and terrorism every year.

3 ( +7 / -4 )

Spot on. Just 3 more weeks until we can finally say goodbye to this nation’s nightmare

You mean the attacker was an illegal immigrant? Do tell.

6 ( +15 / -9 )

"See, if I had actually been president, rather than president-elect at the time of this terrorist attack, I would have stopped him. I would have run into the carnage and stopped it. Then I would have deported everyone who shouldn't have been there. Bigly. This is why America should only be for old, rich, white men, who don't have the energy to go around driving cars into large groups of people. They just sit around counting their money, and nobody suffers as a result. See? I'm a bigly genius for knowing that".

7 ( +14 / -7 )

Jihadist attacks seem to be on the rise once again. Definitely concerning

Not to worry. DJT will have the problem licked in a week. Just “seal the border” and deport all Muslims, regardless of their US citizenship.

/s

-3 ( +8 / -11 )

You mean the attacker was an illegal immigrant?

No, but the rest of her comment

Not to worry. DJT will have the problem licked in a week.

Will take care of the problem for sure

Just “seal the border” and deport all Muslims, regardless of their US citizenship.

The radical ones yes, American citizens can practice from a nice prison cell.

-12 ( +6 / -18 )

OTOH, anyone trying to harm others without a specific, good, reason, has a mental disorder.

The attacker was suffering from a mental disorder - radical islam.

It also appears that he wasn't acting alone.

Seems like there was a possible terrorist event involving a Cybertruck and Trump Vegas hotel.

Elon keen to make it one anyway.

‘Civil War is inevitable’ eh

1 ( +8 / -7 )

Heal thyself, Dear America, before pointing fingers all around the world often at Neo-Con ghosts.

RIP to the victims. You were simply out celebrating what should have been a happy New Year celebration.

-6 ( +3 / -9 )

Rest in Peace to all victims. Coming from all over the US and the world to celebrate the New Year in the famous party town, only to be murdered by a despicable coward. I bet he was a real loser in life, too.

I hope the authorities find any co-conspirators behind this terror attack if there are more.

-3 ( +5 / -8 )

Seems like there was a possible terrorist event involving a Cybertruck and Trump Vegas hotel.

Elon keen to make it one anyway.

Not keen, it was a terrorist attack

‘Civil War is inevitable’ eh

Not anymore thankfully

-16 ( +3 / -19 )

So the US is deranged for having a few mentally ill among its 330 million people?

ALL terrorists have mental illness enough to commit such atrocities. Please stop picking and choosing who has mental illness based on ethnicity.

-11 ( +0 / -11 )

Not keen, it was a terrorist attack

How do you know?

I suppose politically it has to be for you. Otherwise it’s just very hard to cope with.

6 ( +11 / -5 )

How do you know?

Cybertruck, Trump Tower, parked in the front door. Explosives, NOT lithium batteries

Yes, it was.

I suppose politically it has to be for you.

Not for me, but it’s political

Otherwise it’s just very hard to cope with.

I am coping, that’s why made the statement

I don't even know his ethnicity.

-1 ( +6 / -7 )

Just terrible. Why wasn't he vetted before being sold an automobile? Some will argue New Orleans is Leone to disaster, but this could have easily been avoided. So sad. Hoping someone makes a song so the departed are never forgotten.

-12 ( +1 / -13 )

because he rented it.

6 ( +8 / -2 )

The attacker was suffering from a mental disorder - radical islam.

agreed. Islamists just want to kill nonislamists. They don’t want peace. The world needs to wake up b

-7 ( +6 / -13 )

Marc Lowe

Just terrible. Why wasn't he vetted before being sold an automobile?

Firstly he rented not bought it, and secondly, since when do auto dealers "vet" customers for religious/ideological motivation?

-6 ( +6 / -12 )

NOMINATION

ALL terrorists have mental illness enough to commit such atrocities. Please stop picking and choosing who has mental illness based on ethnicity.

You can call religious fanaticism a "mental illness", but I dont think that is an accepted definition. And ethnicity has nothing to do with religion.

ISIS grew out of the ruins of Iraq following the overthrow of Dictator Saddam .

It no longer has a "Caliphate " , but has internet presence and followers in many area of Africa and the Middle East, even in near Russia regions.

You could examine all the pronouncements of its "leaders " over the years to determine ideology etc...but clearly anti West and anti US.

Note to comments here, other Muslims were at the front in defeating the Islamic State held territory, so unfair to put all Muslims in with IS thinking.

Broken states will produce groups like IS.

See Iraq, Libya, Afghanistan , and others.

Foreign military campaigns dont leave clean exits.

6 ( +10 / -4 )

So the perpetrator of the attack in Germany was an immigrant from Saudi Arabia who was harshly critical of Islam and was a vocal opponent of allowing Muslims to immigrate to Germany.

Question, if that is true, It’s on video, a bit contradictory and confusing don’t you think? Why try and kill people?

Bass...why would someone who drives a vehicle into a crowd have a "rational " explanation for his actions.?

5 ( +9 / -4 )

Note to comments here, other Muslims were at the front in defeating the Islamic State held territory, so unfair to put all Muslims in with IS thinking.

True, but it doesn’t dismiss what radical jihadists have done in the name of Islam. You can’t wish it away. What happened, happened.

Broken states will produce groups like IS.

See Iraq, Libya, Afghanistan , and others.

Foreign military campaigns dont leave clean exits.

Oh, we are very well aware of that one.

why would someone who drives a vehicle into a crowd have a "rational " explanation for his actions.?

Gee, I can think of dozens of the top of my head…

-16 ( +2 / -18 )

Suspect a recent "convert " to IS.

Had mortgage problems, debt problems, undergoing a divorce as well.

Maybe "non Islamist " type reasons drove motivation.

Note...he WAS from Texas.

3 ( +8 / -5 )

So the US is deranged for having a few mentally ill among its 330 million people?

Look at the rate of consumption for drugs that treat mental health issues and you will find America is the global leader in mental illness. By far.

4 ( +7 / -3 )

Hoping someone makes a song so the departed are never forgotten.

How about, “Don’t Look Back in Anger”?

-10 ( +0 / -10 )

Had mortgage problems, debt problems, undergoing a divorce as well.

Maybe "non Islamist " type reasons drove motivation.

There are millions of people with money problems, people getting divorced all the time, they don’t go a mow down people. He had a ISIS flag, I mean….

Note...he WAS from Texas.

And???

-15 ( +1 / -16 )

Maybe "non Islamist " type reasons drove motivation.

ISIS flag?

-12 ( +2 / -14 )

more mental (and physical) health care for veterans and less benefits for illegals and less money to overseas will hopefully be a positive change that results from recent horrific events.

-9 ( +5 / -14 )

You can call religious fanaticism a "mental illness", but I dont think that is an accepted definition. And ethnicity has nothing to do with religion.

If it is a white person, blame the skin color or right gun policies. If it is non-white, blame it on mental illness or quickly sweep it under the carpet. FBI took a long long time to call this a terrorist act when it was obvious from the jump.

-10 ( +3 / -13 )

And this is the begginning..

-6 ( +2 / -8 )

Had mortgage problems, debt problems, undergoing a divorce as well.

Maybe "non Islamist " type reasons drove motivation.

That's who these terror groups like ISIS recruit. Like any cult, they look for someone who is vulnerable and exploit them.

2 ( +5 / -3 )

You could examine all the pronouncements of its "leaders " over the years to determine ideology etc...but clearly anti West and anti US.

They are not just anti western. They are way beyond that. IS considers anyone who is not Sunni Muslim, meaning Shiites, Alawis, Kurds, Yezedis, Druz and other ethnic and religious minorities to be apostates to be killed on sight. They even consider the Taliban to be apostates because the Taliban only aspire to control their own country and not a global caliphate like IS aspires to.

IS grew out of Shiite persecution of Sunni Muslims in Iraq under Nouri al_Maliki and Syria under Assad Jr. and Sr...

Interestingly Islamic State also considers the Muslim Brotherhood to be apostates. The Muslim Brotherhood is generally considered to be a Sunni advocacy group but in the ideology of Islamic State they are Ikhwān , the Brothers of Satan.  According to IS their religion is “a hodgepodge of deviance bequeathed by the Ottomans combined with the various tenets and rites of democracy, liberalism, pacifism, and socialism borrowed from the pagans of the West and the East”. According to the group’s former spokesperson al-‘Adnani, “The Ikhwān are nothing but a secularist party with an ‘Islamic’ cloak. Rather, they are the wickedest of the secularists.

Calling IS anti-western misses a great deal. They are way off the hinge and hate basically everyone who doesn't directly support them and adhere to their puritanical view of Islam.

America is the most violent G7 country.

Also the most giving.

Dozens off the top of your head? Impossible.

Not impossible

2016 Nice Attack: On July 14, 2016, a 19-ton cargo truck was deliberately driven into crowds celebrating Bastille Day in Nice, France, resulting in 86 deaths and over 400 injuries. The attacker, Mohamed Lahouaiej-Bouhlel, was identified as having been radicalized, and the attack was claimed by ISIS.

2016 Berlin Christmas Market Attack: On December 19, 2016, a truck was driven into a Christmas market in Berlin, Germany, killing 12 people and injuring 56. The perpetrator, Anis Amri, had pledged allegiance to ISIS.

2017 Westminster Attack: On March 22, 2017, an assailant drove a car into pedestrians on Westminster Bridge in London, England, causing multiple fatalities and injuries. The attacker, Khalid Masood, was inspired by Islamist extremism.

2017 Barcelona Attack: On August 17, 2017, a van was driven into pedestrians on La Rambla in Barcelona, Spain, killing 14 and injuring over 100. The attack was carried out by individuals linked to a jihadist cell.

Events leading to this shocking massacre, loss of life are being constantly updated.

President Joe Biden will be addressing the nation from camp David.

I am reading conflicting accounts of the suspect//the vehicle driven, and events leading up to the atrocity.

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

Living in an open and free society has risks. Mentally ill people can live how they want for the most part until they harm someone else or themselves. The systems to discover mental illness and prevent harm to others doesn't work very well anywhere.

I wish there were a way to report someone, then have the cops go and take all their weapons for 30 days without much paperwork as a formal investigation is performed, but in the US, we'd rather have full due process. For mental illness, that's a flaw in the system.

Boebert defends vote against veterans’ health benefits, saying she didn’t want to spend ‘$600 billion forever’

The House and Senate each passed the PACT Act in July 2022, and Biden signed it into law a short time later. All Democrats and a majority of Republicans in both chambers voted for the legislation. Boebert was one of 88 House Republicans who voted against it.
