Now that's BUYING Votes!
iron man
HES, nah the Aus Labour party is going to raise the freshwater and sewage rates for the next four years, to finance their gov. wine cellars. And raise income tax on sport revenues streamed in all the bars. As for the bottle shops?? any Aus out there to complete the give take?
HopeSpringsEternal
It'll be hard for Labour to win on raising taxes agenda, and didn't they notice Kamala Harris tried the same; let the 2017 tax cuts expire and have everyone pay more?!
K3PO
I'm in my Jaaag driving to a Toorak art exhibition - what's happening with taxes on wine and cognac Tony?

About bloody time.
I AM A DRINKER AND I KNOW MY RIGHTS.

Pat...you remind me of an old friend...Mike Hunt.

If Albanese and his team think that this will create some sort of extra ‘beer vote’, I think they may find it does quite opposite. Low resolution pre-election 11th hour politicking that reeks of desperation p, and this gesture only makes him look even weaker than he already seems in the eyes of many Australians. Just been home too and chatting away with randoms, and suffice to say a strong leader is not exactly how he is known.
Very much cut from the same stone as the UK PM Keir Starmer. Luke warm, not particularly great at anything, just your run of the mill politician that people are getting very fed up with.
Dutton, on the other hand…

It shows the contempt the Labour party holds for the australian public.
ThePunisher
The Liberals have announced they are matching the policy, with a freeze on the tax for two years.
I guess they hold the public in contempt, too?

What a joke and desperation.
Another doomed virtue signalling urban Labor government that paved its way to the trash heap of history by shamelessly pandering to globalist elites, while doing completely zero for their core constituency or anyone for that matter, except hiking prices.
Jimizo
Another one.
Give us an ‘oh wait/hint/translation/I’ll wait’.
Are these the bad elites who will force you to eat insects?
Not the good elites like billionaires and members of political dynasties?
Blackstar
Dutton, on the other hand…
is a creep who will pander to Trump and wants to move Australia as far as he can towards an authoritarian model of government (i.e. one that favours rich whites and marginalizes "others").
GuruMick
Ricky...Dutton just exposed as a multi million property investor while acting out the "poor son routine "
Concerned Citizen
Weak Aussie major political parties. Remember how they mistreated the public during Covid? Such politicians who don't truly have the best interests of the people at heart should be soundly voted out.

I know you're still angry about it, but the silent majority SPOKE when Australia overwhelmingly voted NO in 2023. Get over it. Australians saw through the divisive, bureaucratic w.o.k.e mess that was Albanese's Voice and chose UNITY and EQUALITY over virtue signaling. That was a victory for common sense, equality, and keeping the country's future in the hands of all Australians - not just the Establishment Leftist elite.
Democracy manifest! - more delicious than a succulent Chinese meal.

Any relation to Yorak?

I guess the opposition could hit back by abolishing the tax on beer.
The government could then promise to subsidise it.
Or they could just stop fiddling about and pay people to vote for them.
TaiwanIsNotChina
They could always just provide a pint to voters:

Taiwan...close...they often have a sausage sizzle at the polling booth.
We Aussies maaate...class all the way !

Guru, the good news is dude that one day an AI chatbot will be able to predict and even write every thought you have. It’s literally like out of the leftists manual for NOT living.
And of course my neo-marxist self flagellating-nemesis, ‘Dutton, rich. Rich equals evil. Must destroy evil.’
Yawn.

Albo's clutching at straws now.
I can imagine a cabinet meeting in Canberra...
Albo: Things are looking pretty bleak, folks. You could even say the Voice result was the high point of our government. That's how bad it' it. Anyone got any ideas to turn things around?
Tony Burke: Well, I guess I could mint some new citizens in marginal seats?
Clare O'Neil: We could make some bogus promise about housing?
Penny Wong: We could pretend to stand up to China?
Catering staff bringing in a fresh jug of kombucha: How about putting a lid on the booze tax for a while?
Albo: My goodness, you've got it! Economic genius. I'm promoting you to cabinet.
This is the calibre of Australia's political leadership right now, but hopefully not much longer...
Beer is already ridiculously expensive in Australia now. Freezing the tax rise isn't going to make it any cheaper.
Shane Sommerville
labour will be voted out in the next election.
Keepitreal
Too Little to late…even bogans won’t vote for Albo he is done n dusted on ya bike mate.
