It’s really great to see the real voice of the people speaking up! Very patriotic! Unlike President Dump

“I just feel like we need to defend our democracy,” she said. She is concerned about the Trump administration’s layoffs of staff at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the fate of immigrant communities and the Trump administration trying to rule by executive order, she said.

A woman wearing a foam Statue of Liberty crown brought a speaker system and led an anti-Trump sing-along, changing the words “young man” in the song “Y.M.C.A.” to “con man.”

One man in Revolutionary War era garb and a tricorn hat held a sign with a quote often attributed to Thomas Jefferson: “All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent.”

Authoritarian rule and military exacerbation of protests in LA have proven this president is not about peace and goodwill, he has shown a penchant to be a king wannabe. In fact, his actions demand countering and protest is not only a good way to say Trump is wrong, it is necessary to keep democracy in the USA.

All I say: resist, protest (peacefully), prevent the beginnings before it is too late!!

NO KINGS!

Message to you, Donald Trump! Do you even understand what this means?

It means you've acted like a tyrant. Stop it!

Good job, mainland Americans. Defending those immigrants in need who come to the US illegally and encouraging more to break the laws, encouraging more looting, more vandalizing and more violence including murder. Burning the flag of the country that gives them "freedom" but leaving waving the flags of those countries immigrants don't want to go back to.

Way to American. Just like Black Friday in Walmart. Demonstrations for George Floyd back in 2020 and all the looting by one specific group of people, plus others taking over police stations. All the violent events when protesting for Free Palestine, including murder of Israel embassie's staff. And now this.

It's like Americans just want a reason to go and take all that rage they have inside.

What was it that Obama say back in April?

"This has to do with something more precious, which is who are we as a country, and what values do we stand for?"

Keep it peaceful, as protests are ok, but violence is NOT

We had close to 250 in our little desert town at our No Kings demonstration. Two of our city council members were walking around talking to us. The great majority of the feedback from passing cars in the 2 1/2 hours I was out there was positive. Only saw two middle fingers and two thumbs down, and a couple of vulgar comments. Most drivers honked, waved and gave us a thumbs up. Truck drivers especially seemed to appreciate us. There were six pro-Trump counter demonstrators but they kind of sulked off to one side not really at the curb as if unsure what to do. Many of the demonstrators were quite old. It was a good crowd.

I don't see immigrants doing any looting or vandalizing. The ones I know are too busy working two jobs, one full time and one part time with the spouse working another full time job while trying to raise a family to be out causing problems. The immigrants I know are honest and work harder than anyone I know born here.. I get tired of seeing immigrants run down. My grandparents suffered the same abuse and my wife is often treated badly by her employer because she is not born here. I'd rather have an illegal immigrant for a neighbor than someone who so dislikes immigrants.

You don't like Republican Trump?

Considering that Trump won in most states, you can't really believe there are any decent Democrats either.

And you're going to vote for the Democrats who talk about peace but started the Pacific War and the Vietnam War?

Follow the words of MLK Jr and peacefully show your strength in your numbers...

And watch and be cautious of far-right instigators and plants - it's part of the MAGA playbook...

Best wishes!

Happy 250th Birthday US Army, one year older than the US, the organization MOST responsible for 'the Colonies' gaining their freedom from King George!

And as an aside, Happy 79th Birthday to DJ Trump too!

Unless you’re Maga, then trump will pardon you.

Did you see Trump's parade???...

US Army marching is a joke, a pathetic joke..

Thought about going but decided to work in my yard. Anyway I attended the Memorial Day ceremonies at Arlington cemetery. I saw the soldiers on tv as if they were just walking.

The protest remind me of Black Lives Matter protests during Trump’s first administration.

Good to see there are still some normal people in the states.

Never give in to tyranny.

No Kings!

No Queens!

Never give in to tranny! You can’t demand people live a certain way just because you don’t like it.

Celebrations should be an opportunity for all people to come together. As every US citizen should value the freedom they have, the US Army is a big reason why.

Happy 250th B-Day US Army!

I agree Tokyo guy.

They must be riveted to the parade.

Ooh look at those shiny tanks. Aren't we so powerful

5 ( +5 / -0 )

A couple of thousand spectators turned up for Trump's Birthday Military parade, and not the two hundred thousand as advertised.

More protesters across the country than parade spectators.

and making fun of the US Army is funny?

Trump’s parade not looking very well attended.

A bit flaccid.

NO KINGS, NO DICTATORS, NO EMPERORS, we the people are sick of the few trying to lord it over the rest of us. The french of 1789 had the right idea.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

TikTok users banded together to reserve thousands of tickets for 47’s parade with of course no intention of going. This might explain the poorly attended event.

After trying to ban TikTok, then flipping and proclaiming his love for it, I wonder if he’ll try to ban it again.

In a democracy there are differences of opinion which can be expressed in the form of protest.

For some, protests they don’t like can’t be a sincere expression of opinion - they must be getting paid to do it.

How childish.

7 ( +9 / -2 )

The cost of the parade is likely to be near $100 million. Washington roads were not constructed to carry heavy tanks. They will need repairs.

In a democracy there are differences of opinion which can be expressed in the form of protest.

If it wasn't a democracy and the head of the country was a tyrant/dictator, there would be no free protests throughout the country. Therefore the title of this protest is hypocritical.

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

In the United States, the right to peacefully protest demonstrate is a fundamental democratic right, protected by the First Amendment of the Constitution.

Also includes the freedom of speech, assembly, to petition the government.

So if you feel it necessary, then join in, shout holla wave that banner.

There is legitimate criticism that Trump is overstepping the mark as a leader of a democratic country.

That is fair grounds for protest.

Trump and his team used the idea of him being a ‘King’. It could be adolescent trolling of the libs ( not the first time ), or it could be seen as something more sinister.

No harm in reminding him to know his place. Politicians are employees of the people and are bound by laws.

Remind them of this Give them a bollocking when necessary.

The army deserves a parade and Trump deserves a celebration for a special day.

As for the king thing, maybe the concept has merit. Precious jewel and mineral encrusted crown and install a throne in the WH for the coronation with an even larger parade.
