It was one of the greatest moments in human history, that much is for sure.

I would agree. Sadly, the current red-green government in Germany tries its best to destroy all that with their censorship, persecution of opponents, and endless support for American wars.

Germany urgently needs a populist backlash like we have just seen in America.

Scholz's government has collapsed - just like this wall.

He is another one who made suspect associations and ruined his economy in the process, to the detriment of decent people.

Congratulations.

The hurt among the former imperial masters is real.

Not at all. On the contrary, Scholz is trying to cope by reminiscing about something 4 decades ago. He is upset his government is imploding, his self-inflicted economic meltdown and failure to secure the lithium reserves to the east.

It was one of the greatest moments in human history, that much is for sure.

Having served in the US military from 1984 - 1988 when glasnost and such was happening, I am proud of all that. When this ugly wall opened up and Berliners started tearing it down, I was the happiest camper boy! All the rigors, defense, anxieties, hard work, trials + tribulations of the past 40 odd years had paid off. I couldn't believe it but I was so glad glad GLAD. This told me that we didn't happen to destroy the world by atomic war, and that we could do anything as a human race if we set our minds to it.

I was 23 years old at the time but as a veteran I wasn't so naive to think that there would be Peace on Earth. Soon we had the Panama war which had nothing to do with Communism. A 'Miami Vice' episode sort of foretold that BION. Liberia had just erupted into a grossly ugly civil war that would last for years. With the Tanker war against Iran the year before and good ol' Gaddafy in Libya I knew that those nations' dictators would start up some crap again sooner or later. And they did.

But now wars are TV entertainment for the armchair generals, and Americans don't even question why or know why. They turn their backs to veterans and look at them as trash. 'Suckers' + 'losers' as Sassybrat Mussolini says. Of course even having a fascist pig in the WH shows how things have become worse, and not just politically either. Many more factors, too many to list here.

Since then there's been Yugoslavia, Rwanda, Iraq, ISIL, Haiti, and all the wars resulting from those ones. Myanmar too. And now too with the information age there is the new and dangerous technology of cyberwar and cyberpunk. That leads to even more lies being spread than the East European Communists ever could've accomplished before. And more oppression, incl. sad to say even the USA.

I fondly remember this week in 1989, but Americans just don't seem to appreciate the significance of this historical moment or its importance nor do they even give a rat's ass. That makes me very sad and angry.

It's probably up to adults and the educated to worry about the national security. People were voting with their empty pocketbooks in this election. I'm not sure what the answer is.
