This is a great proposal by Trump.

Nothing else has worked, and the result has always been Gaza being a hotbed of terrorism, so time to make the Middle East Safe Again.

Trump is scaring Arab nations into taking responsibility of Gaza.

He does not really want Gaza.

Mark my words.

This is part of a larger picture (read the Iran article - interrelated).

Trump aides defend his Gaza takeover proposal in face of global condemnation

You do have to feel a little bit bad for the aides who have to scramble daily to defend every incredibly stupid/ignorant/offensive/all of the above idea the Dumbest President in History spouts on a daily basis. Their job is certainly not easy.

14 ( +21 / -7 )

The one good quality that Trump consistently exhibits is saying the quiet part so loudly that it is impossible to pretend he didn't day it.

And he openly admitted that the US and Scofflaw regime are trying to remove the population of Palestine from the remaining fragments of Palestine where they are the acknowledged majority.

That it also exposes a truth that so many have been trying to bury for a long time, that the only legal place to move the Refugees from Gaza is right back into what for lifetimes was ubiquitously called Palestine but is now, in many parts of the world, mistakenly called Israel, and, indeed, it is the one place where preventing them from going and being citizens is a Crime Against Humanity, and them going there forcibly is not even a crime, let alone terrorism or racism or a crime against humanity, is being steadfastly ignored and reburied by those who buried it in the first place.

13 ( +20 / -7 )

Russia will definitely get a part of Ukraine. Any visionary will know China gets Taiwan without war in a matter of time. The only one without any territorial gains is the U.S.

Trump would greatly protect US interests with Greenland, Panama and Gaza. This isn’t about MAGAZA but Trump reversing America’s decline.

1) The Arctic access keeps Putin and Xi honest there with Greenland.

2) The U.S. would significantly stabilize and contribute to peace in the Middle East with Gaza.

3) The Panama Canal is a must response by the U.S. to Peru’s Chancay Port, part of China’s Belt Road Initiative and the Atlantic Pacific Ocean connecting transcontinental high speed railway (350km/hr) through Brazil.

Greenland Panama and Gaza is the way to go for Trump. GPG will bring about a stable multipolar / tripolar world through deterrence without necessary wars.

You guys got a great leader in Trump but you don’t really realize it. You don’t like him but that is a very small whiny complaint to put up with for such ginormous gains.

How about making the Gaza Strip a secular society?

Being a colony of the US isn’t such a bad idea, is it?

-15 ( +7 / -22 )

He does things like a NY real estate developer - float an outrageous offer to loosen up the middle ground and knock the other party off balance, opening the way for counter offers.

Watch the actual press conference, the one moment Netanyahu wasn't smirking, and had a frown on his face, was when DJT appeared to rule out Israeli control. This slipped through the cracks in much of the media coverage.

He has already ruled out paying anything. There is more of a wider plan.

-14 ( +3 / -17 )

Gaza as a colony is worth the peace in the East. Someone has to remove all that concrete rubble and only China and the U.S. can rebuild on that scale. It is definitely not going to be China and the visionary Trump easily sees the potential.

If done right, it is a win win situation.

How about you leave them to do as they please.

Yes, it's a terrible idea that reflects Trump's stupendously simplistic thinking.

Will it be you or your sons /daughters going into Gaza to remove Hamas. Hamas totally embarrass the Terrorist group the IDF who fail horrendously. Do you really want to embarrass the USA arm forces when they fail to remove Hamas. The USA armed force could not remove the Viet Com from their tunnel system and got their rear end smash like Pastie and had run away in total embarrassment. Because that what will happen if USA armed forces attempt to do so. Hoo Hah Hamas.

And have kidnapping and cause tens of thousands to die? This is no different from being a Good Samaritan, different from colonialism and exploitation.

You want them to continue to live five more decades in all that concrete rubble with incessant insurrection amidst insecurity?

Some situations require stabilization but the stabilizing agent getting something out of it is only natural.

-15 ( +2 / -17 )

How about this?

Offer everybody in Gaza a U.S. passport or U.S. citizenship while granting them the option to remain in Gaza? Or maybe give them a U.S. territory someplace else with U.S. protection and assistance?

Instead of looking outward for other countries to take them in, look inward. It might be a lot easier.

The Palestinian people kidnapped nobody.

You want them to continue to live five more decades in all that concrete rubble with incessant insurrection amidst insecurity?

No. Give Palestine back to the Palestinians. And have Israel pay for rebuilding all that concrete rubble.

14 ( +16 / -2 )

Offer everybody in Gaza a U.S. passport or U.S. citizenship while granting them the option to remain in Gaza?

I like your idea stormcrow. I'd get behind that.

It's probably one of the worst proposals by a US President in history, and there have been a few.

It's on par with Russia invading the Ukraine, and much worse that the idea of China reuniting Taiwan.

It's ludicrous in the extreme, the ultra-national Israeli factions can't even hide their glee (Netanyahu's face at the joint press conference, anyone???).

So, let's stop for a minute and consider amongst all of this, what the Palestinians want, for whom Gaza has been their homeland for several thousand years. Their US backed overlords have razed their homeland, then the sponsor of the decimation steps in and literally says; 'Nice job, we think we might take this for ourselves.' Imagine how they must feel right now. Stunned, I imagine. Absolutely stunned to the core.

It beggars belief, and if you are an American with any shred of international fairness and integrity, you have to be deeply ashamed of what Trump has said. It's morally and legally abhorrent.

17 ( +19 / -2 )

History is littered with people who wanted power. Absolute power absolutely corrupts. Hitler wanted more land and to subjugate people to his will. Make no mistake, the same is happening here. And to think, Trump wants to let go many federal employees in the CIA? Giving more reasons for others to hate America, and weakening your intelligence agency is a recipe for disaster. We should all be worried.

13 ( +13 / -0 )

Or maybe give them a U.S. territory someplace else with U.S. protection and assistance?

Greenland perhaps.

-12 ( +2 / -14 )

This something an ignorant and educated person would say, even people around him him should counsel him from being ignorant

And some Americans still wonder why the anti-American sentiment has grown at an incredible speed around the world in the past 2 weeks... Unbelievable.

20 ( +20 / -0 )

Yes, it's a terrible idea that reflects Trump's stupendously simplistic thinking.

Spot on. Trump thinks it's just so easy to go into an area where he knows nothing about the history and the reason why there has been a long history of war and violence. You don't just go into someone's backyard thinking you can make it better. How arrogant is that?

14 ( +15 / -1 )

What trump is talking about is forced displacement, which is a war crime.

Oh right - sending in the troops to evict the Palestinians so Trump can fill the place up with casinos, resort hotels and golf courses is no different at all.

14 ( +15 / -1 )

Nearly every building is ruble. Pushing everything away is the easiest method to rebuild. It is also the easiest way to wipe away proof of what happened and belittle the deaths in Gaza.

Whoever rebuilds could do like Russia did to the US Embassy in Moscow https://www.cia.gov/readingroom/document/cia-rdp90-00965r000302310013-2 and fill the walls with listening devices, used the steel beams as antennas, etc, which is why the US Consul bulldozed everything and imported American construction workers to build it fresh again.

Hamas doesn't want that and wouldn't trust the US not to do something similar as Russia did. Hamas can't be trusted NOT to build tunnels between every building. So, the Palestinians who want to live in Gaza will live in ruble, if they return.

So we have Hamas who can't be trusted. Israel who can't be trusted. The US who can't be trusted and very few others who are willing, except with terrible loan rates.

10 ( +13 / -3 )

Nearly every building is ruble. Pushing everything away is the easiest method to rebuild. It is also the easiest way to wipe away proof of what happened and belittle the deaths in Gaza.

I'm all for a rebuild. However, it should be in a way that is appealing to the people who are to live there. Build it in a way that will honor and respect the history, religion, and traditions of that area. Introducing casinos to Muslims is not the way to go. Communication with the people who are to live there is important. Communication with neighboring countries as well. Don't just say "I want to build it the way I want to build it".

11 ( +11 / -0 )

Oh, and a rebuild should be done with the cooperation of many countries; not just one.

10 ( +10 / -0 )

The aide, reading from a prepared script written with a sharpie, had the following to say while constantly looking nervously over his shoulder.

"Since President Trump took office, he has already sent the stock market to the highest it has ever been, ended the conflict in Ukraine, deported every single person from the US who shouldn't be there, and won the world heavyweight boxing championship. In light of this, a few small changes to his Gaza plan can surely be overlooked, nice family you have there, be a shame if anything happened to them".

President Trump thoughts as to basic land right ownership won’t pass even the most tests scrutiny of international law.

Understanding the status of land rights for sustainable reconstruction of the Gaza strip and the west bank

Briefing note on the Occupied Palestinian Territory

https://www.un.org/unispal/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/cd1805en.pdf.

Both the Gaza Strip, West Bank are simply not US government property.

Neither to be brought or sold.

Any long-term reconstruction will need the full support of the Arab world. Neighbour’s allies vested political interests, entities yet to stake a claim.

Trump is trolling, pulling the mullahs in Iran beards.

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

There's a theory going around social media that every time Vice President Trump makes an outrageous statement, it's to distract from something. In this case, he got handed his fat orange butt by Trudeau and Sheinbaum, so he comes up with this "let's turn Gaza into Trumpland Amusement Park" stunt. Now that he's gone back on that, you have to wonder what's coming next. Invasion of Luxembourg, maybe? New law stating that all women of child bearing age are to have a blonde, blue-eyed baby within the next two years on pain of imprisonment? Nah, let's replace the dollar with a novelty meme coin as its official currency.

Loved the optics of the announcement.

Trump in his normal "off the cuff" blabbering, with Bibi on the squirm esp when Trump was raving about the destruction. Pure theatre,

And if anyone wanted more laughs, just watch Fox news stories on this. Fawning couldn't get any better.

Trump's 1st 2 weeks have been a mish-mash of "I am strong-man" tactics with a chaotic crash, bash, dash, cut and slice approach to everything resulting in something akin to a "Laurel & Hardy" skit.

We laughed at those comedies because they were not real - but we're laughing at the Trump show because it is real - lol.

And sadly it's real for millions of Palestinians.

If I were Palestinian, I'd rather Trump influence my destiny than Hammas. I'd take a Gaza that resembles the Riviera over a Gaza that is a massive underground terror outpost with the people above living in abject poverty while the leaders of Hammas live in luxury off of money donated to help its citizens. Perhaps the Israelies can teach them how to turn dirt into rich soil and verdant land with their advance farming techinques...and show them what a democracy looks like. Beats being lorded over by terrorists hell-bent on the carnage of its own people for political and ideological succour.

I was thinking that myself. As much as Netanyahu clearly enjoyed Trump describing the complete and total destruction of Gaza he has caused over the last 15 months he is also probably inadvertently helping the genocide case against Israel.

The commenter GuruMick justified the October 7 massacre/rape, in yesterday's discussion thread, by saying as follows (among other things):

all kibutz function as military outposts. Legitimate target

A kibutz is a village populated by families. Are the babies, the toddlers, the elderly, the woman and the man, the civilians - a legitimate target? Is it legitimate to open, by using force, a room where a family is hiding, and set fire to the room with the family?

According to the view of Hamas every Israeli village, town or city is a settelement, and every Jew is a settler, a legitimate target for slaughter. Hamas is not interested in establishing a Palestinian state. They are interested in Itbakh el Yahud - butcher the Jews. These murderers must be eliminated.

-11 ( +0 / -11 )

"ridiculous and absurd."

Yes. That pretty much sums it up. Actually, it's even stupider and potentially more dangerous than that. They will retailiate with terrorist attacks against the US if they lose their lands and see the US behind this naked land grab. Let's hope nothing comes from it, and we all just have our daily morning laugh at President Stupid.

"Trump can go to hell…," said Samir Abu Basel, a father of five in Gaza City displaced from his house by the war.

I’m sure Trump has no intention of actually going to Gaza, but he’s probably appreciative of the invitation.

-13 ( +0 / -13 )

A kibutz is a village populated by families.

Here comes the spokesperson of Netanyahu, starting a topic which is not relevant to the thread, to turn the attention to something irrelevant, “as they do”.

A reminder that, according to the Israeli anti-settlement group, Peace Now, Israel has built settlements housing some 700,000 Jews since it occupied the West Bank in the 1967 Middle East war. The settlements are considered illegal under international law.

A reminder that the Netanyahu's regime in Israel has warded off completely the Gaza Strip since the start of the military operations, same as the battleground in South Lebanon. Therefore all the actions and destructions by Israel IDF cannot be documented by foreign media. So you can have an idea of the authenticity of the chronicles, especially the narrative of American media.

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

Trump's madman suggestion Gaza will belong to the US will never happen. The people of Gaza are already refugees from conflicts.

It would be ethnic cleansing, an international crime.

9 ( +11 / -2 )

Trump has offered nothing on what he will do for the Palestinians except push the problem onto other Arab nations.

8 ( +9 / -1 )

A reminder that, according to the Israeli anti-settlement group, Peace Now, Israel has built settlements housing some 700,000 Jews since it occupied the West Bank in the 1967 Middle East war. The settlements are considered illegal under international law.

The Palestinian Arabs do not make any distinction between the West Bank and Israel. For them, every Israeli village, town or city, including Tel Aviv, is a settlement. The Palestinian Arabs are not interested at all in having their own state, they are interested in one and only one thing - committing genocide to Israel.

-8 ( +1 / -9 )

I think it's "in principle" it's a good idea. Ship them all out.

There has never been, and there will never be, peace in Gaza / Israel.

The problem is incompatible religion. It's like trying to mix oil and water, and it will never happen. Fact.

Well this post listing some of USAID waste and corruption is a good example. And that is just one agency.

"— $7.9 million to teach Sri Lankan journalists how to avoid “binary-gendered language”

— $20 million for a new Sesame Street show in Iraq

— $4.5+ million to “combat disinformation” in Kazakhstan

— $2 million for sex changes and “LGBT activism” in Guatemala

— $6 million to “transform digital spaces to reflect feminist democratic principles”

— $2.1 million to help the BBC “value the diversity of Libyan society”

— $10 million worth of USAID-funded meals, which went to an al Qaeda-linked terrorist group

— $2.5 million to promote “inclusion” in Vietnam

— $16.8 million for a SEPARATE “inclusion” group in Vietnam

— $20 million for a group related to a key player in the Russiagate impeachment hoax

— $1.1 million to an Armenian “LGBT group”

— $1.5 million to “rebuild” the Cuban media ecosystem

— $2.3 million for “artisanal and small scale gold mining” in the Amazon

As predicted, lots of effort to return the truth Trump accidentally made visible, that the only place the population of Gaza can legally (and morally, and ethically) can be moved is back home to what some mistakenly insist is Israel.

It's also the only place using force to prevent that population from going is a Crime Against Humanity.

Actually, I would prefer to see Gaza given back to its rightful owner, which is Egypt.

The US can help with the rebuilding though. In the interim, the occupying Arabs can be relocated to various countries in the Middle East from where they originally came.

Gaza needs to be cleaned up from top to bottom.

The safety and security of Israel takes precedence over those who support terrorist groups. A total and thorough cleansing of the land is needed.

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

Heres an idea.

Gaza reconstructed sector by sector with the Palestinians remaining in Gaza, the one group returns to live in the reconstructed area

Next area reconstructed ect...until all areas have housing

Then the spaces left for hospitals and education are built.

Then places of worship.

Dont have to clear the entire area before even one dwelling can be built.

Build the place in segments.

I wouldn't necessarily that is a bad or unreasonable idea

-8 ( +1 / -9 )

Best case scenario, Trump comes out with this totally ridiculous plan in the hope that a slightly less ridiculous plan seems more reasonable. For which he will likely settle.

Worst case scenario, The US somehow accepts the whole of Israel as part of the United States, not just Gaza, allowing the US to "defend itself" against any haters in the ME.

Trump will not get the real estate of Gaza, Greenland, Canada, and the Panama Canal.

Because you say so?

No. Because the people of those countries say so. Trump has already done serious damage to the Canadian-American friendship. The Inuits in Greenland do not want to be part of the US.

I like that idea. However, as noted in the press conference, there are some 30,000 unexploded bombs that need to be extracted.

Trump is an expert at "misdirection". He gives you these "soundbytes" and tweets to keep you busy. This story you should ignore. Instead, you need to look into his other dealings.

The right hand never tells the left hand what it's doing. These Trump lapdogs just echo what he's saying to keep you engaged. What else did Trump sign today that he's NOT talking about. There's your story.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

No. Because the people of those countries say so.

As I said, they can say whatever they want, but in the end, money always wins.

Trump has already done serious damage to the Canadian-American friendship.

They'll get over it.

The Inuits in Greenland do not want to be part of the US.

They don't have to be, but we are the only ones that can protect that country and the PM likes the idea, so give it time.

-12 ( +0 / -12 )

In the end, money always talks, we have already seen a lot of cave-ins from tariff threats and aid funding, so give it time.

Canada and Mexico didn’t “cave” to Trump’s tariffs, their actions were already in place before his administration. This was just a show for MAGA fans to make it look like he's racking up wins. Smart move, but he’ll need all the wins he can get because the real economic problems facing the U.S. are immensely difficult to tackle.

MIck you have no idea, Gaza will remain a no going zone until there is no more Israel. Hamas are not going to move out of their tunnel system for anyone until Israel is no more. Israel force this issue with decades ethic cleansing and no way are Hamas are going to move out so they can rebuild not until Israel is dead. Hamas will not give up the upper hand. They will rather die first.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Us: USA will take over Gaza.

someone else: no, no we will do it and take all the people.

win!

same like when we said all the Mexican illegals were going to Gitmo?

Mexico said no no, just send them to us!

us: your terms are acceptable. Win!

The Mad Man has shown in just two weeks that he is mentally unfit to run the country. are still

Feel sorry for the Americans as there still almost 4 years of the deranged man.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

U.S. President Donald Trump's mindset is no different from that of a dictator. He suggested Canada and Greenland be part of the U.S. and also that the Panama Canal be taken over and put under U.S. control.

Now, he proposes Gaza should be occupied by the U.S. and that the Palestinians living in the district should be extradited from there to achieve peace.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Canada and Mexico didn’t “cave” to Trump’s tariffs,

They will once they set in, they know it and we know it

their actions were already in place before his administration.

Doesn't matter, if they didn't care, they would not have responded to Trump's request.

This was just a show for MAGA fans to make it look like he's racking up wins. Smart move, but he’ll need all the wins he can get because the real economic problems facing the U.S. are immensely difficult to tackle.

And he will, they will fall in line, keep watching

Canada is going to declare the USA becoming part of it called Southern Canada. The Gulf will be renamed the Gulf of Southern Canada.

Israel always intended to destroy Gaza to drive out the Arabs. It wants the same on the West Bank.

Corrupt and wasteful? All these are good causes!

Then why didn't the Dems tell and be transparent about it? It's not their money, we have a right to know and now that we do, nope.

Nothing to do with the Dems, Congress decides what to spend the money on and it isn't a secret.

BTW the same group that kicked Assad out of Syria.

But not the rest. Anyhow, that's all over and done with.

The rest are good causes. And no, it's not over and done with.

If Gaza is not rebuilt, there will never be a two-state solution

Both Trump and Netanyahu have expressed zero intentions for a two-state solution. Saudi Arabia has stated no treaty with Israel and no place for the Arabs.

BS, there can be, once the area is rebuilt and the Gazans get rid of Hamas, if not, then there won't be.

Saudi Arabia has stated no treaty with Israel and no place for the Arabs.

Well, then there are no other options, Trump's is the best, so it's rebuilding the region or nothing.

-12 ( +0 / -12 )

But you forgot one thing, how is this good for Israel?

A prosperous, healthy neighbour is less likely to murder and rape your children.

-12 ( +1 / -13 )

The Palestinian Arabs do not make any distinction between the West Bank and Israel.

We have been saying for a while now. Copying and pasting the Tel Aviv dispatches is a lost cause as, not only they are ethically and immoral deceptions, but also blatant lies. I would suggest to find a more dignified job based on true facts, which would be a good reason for you to completely regenerate.

push to transfer Palestinians out of Gaza and have the U.S. take over the war-ruined enclave

This is not a war, it's a genocide.

First, israel and the US commit genocide and destroy Gaza, and then they want to take control? Disgusting!

Smart heads in the know are saying that the real purpose of this unrealistic proposal is to push regional players - Saudi, Egypt & co into coming up with an alternative proposal for a long term solution / plan for Gaza.

So what do those ‘smart heads’ do now they all rejected the proposal in the strongest possible terms?

2 ( +4 / -2 )

if the Arabs leave Gaza for whatever reason, Israel will never allow a single one to return. That has always been their policy.

Trump and Netanyahu want to push the Arabs out and keep them out.

But none of it will happen.

Hamas will not give up the upper hand. They will rather die first.

All reports indicate that 70–80% of the casualties in Gaza have been women and children. In other words they’ll let their women and children die first while they seek cover underground or in the luxurious confines of Qatar

-11 ( +1 / -12 )

Do they? Or do they want to assimilate them into civilization

It's not genocide but it is ethnic cleansing.

8 ( +9 / -1 )

So what do those ‘smart heads’ do now they all rejected the proposal in the strongest possible terms?

Well, there are no options other than what I mentioned, the Dems certainly have none, so...

if the Arabs leave Gaza for whatever reason, Israel will never allow a single one to return. That has always been their policy.

I disagree, of course, they will want some conditions, and rightfully so.

Trump and Netanyahu want to push the Arabs out and keep them out.

I disagree

But none of it will happen.

Well, of course not, but the problem is with the Palestinians, and Trump wants to solve it, take it or leave it.

Those Arabs live in Israel, not Gaza or the West Bank, and are subject to restrictions not imposed on the Jewish citizens. They can not buy land/houses anywhere they like.

"Racism on the part of Israeli Jews against Arabs in Israel exists in institutional policies, personal attitudes, the media, education, immigration rights, housing, social life and legal policies."

It depends

Well, we live in a world where racism will always be and remain a fabric of who we are as a society.

I guess you don't know many times Netanyahu stated Israel including Gaza and the West Bank is only for Jews and passed laws to that effect.
