Now with the looting, I doubt whether the LAPD alone is up to the job. Newsom needs to allow at least the National Guard to protect ICE agents as they do their job.

Everything in LA is continuing as normal. The only thing abnormal is the clear rise of fascism from the federal government.

Interesting to see the Marines arrive to provide security. They have recent counter-insurgency experience from their deployments.

Providing that to federal officers who have to enforce immigration law, ejecting the millions let in under the previous administration is the next logical step the administration will likely take.

Fait to say the blame for this is squarely with state and city leaders for not cooperating, who don't seem to understand they don't get a veto on federal law when they think it suits them.

-3 ( +7 / -10 )

It's going to be extra work for the LAPD to hold off protesters and provide a cordon around Trump's thugs while they pretend to work.

-4 ( +5 / -9 )

“I think we’re entering another phase, especially under President Trump with his focus on the homeland, where the National Guard and Reserves become a critical component of how we secure that homeland,”

"Secure the homeland"?

Pure fascism.

-3 ( +6 / -9 )

I predict the troops go home in a few hours.

-3 ( +4 / -7 )

I hope the court will make the right decision and put an end this DICTATERSHIP led by Mr. Trump.

-3 ( +7 / -10 )

A loser Governor thats for sure.

I am here, there is nothing normal about it.

Everything in LA is continuing as normal.

Yeah, in the fantasy world perhaps

The only thing abnormal is the clear rise of fascism from the federal government.

No, the fascist government ruling California are the out of control ones who think that their thugs can defy the law, not going to happen this time.

The Supreme Court will side with the President on this, can’t have anarchy, just can’t.

Oh? The whole city is burning? Traffic is at a standstill? Businesses closed? Children screaming in fear?

Time to send in the tanks?

That'd be just the spectacle Trump and Stephen G. Miller would love!

Trump thrives on conflicts, ICE can do their job without intimidating and provoking the citizens if they wanted to, but their THUGISH tactics has inflamed the general public and caused CHAOS among the migrant communities.

Mr. Trump The grandson of a German migrant needs to remember that America was and still is being built by these migrants, treat them respectfully and they will cooperate .

Can't have a lawless President, either. Kavanaugh, Barrett, and even others are clear on that.

People smarter than me have said that Newsome should mobilize the rest of the guard to keep it out of Trump's grubby hands.

Not doing a good job at it.

That’s not the case

Kavanaugh, Barrett, and even others are clear on that.

Thanks for agreeing with me, can’t have a mob overtaking our cities, the Supreme Court is very clear on that

Hegseth has flagged a months long deployment, more reinforcements and even other geographic locations. Probably contingent on how cooperative the governor will be with facilitating legal federal enforcement - all 'sanctuary cities' have effectively been read the riot act.

Washington has to not only focus on securing its borders (land, air and sea lanes) - it also needs to put huge effort and resources into securing the interior, as the administration has long promised. The tens of millions of illegals let in by Biden have disappeared into the interior zones and a multi-pronged campaign will be required to locate and dislodge this hazard. Starting with CA is a no-brainer as a template to be replicated countrywide course of action.

And it's notable that Washington is finally starting to take this problem seriously - homeland security - by securing all of the above, rather than pouring resources into places of no consequence on the other side of the world.

-7 ( +4 / -11 )

Gotta have the troops....gotta have ,em......looks much better on TV

6 ( +11 / -5 )

@woodylee--well said. If the president had advisors well versed in past Republican policies, they would remind Trump how Reagan smoothly solved immigration status with a stroke of the pen, granting amnesty to millions. But it looks like they want everything done the hard and costly way.

BREAKING - federal judge declines Gavin's request for temporary restraining order limiting Marines and National Guard troops activities in CA.

Hearings on the full suit (Newsom v Trump) to commence Thursday.

-7 ( +5 / -12 )

The cost of the National Guard and Marines is $134 million.  That funding will come from the Defense Department's operations and maintenance budget and cover travel, housing, food, and other incidental expenses.

6 ( +10 / -4 )

It looks like Trump is a dictator now just like Putin, Xi. He can send many soldiers easily anywhere if he doesn't like any demonstrations. Congress can't stop him any more. It seems to me the US has no longer freedom.

4 ( +7 / -3 )

The protests have spread to other cities, like New York, Chicago, and Dallas,

9 ( +11 / -2 )

to block Trump administration from using troops in immigration raids

Troops aren’t “assisting with immigration raids”. Never have been.

troops are protecting law enforcement doing the legal raids from violent “protesters” who are attacking them.

-7 ( +3 / -10 )

Obama deported 3.1 million

Biden deported 4.4 million

Good.

They did it without National Guard or Marines. ICE just went about their job without drama.

They did it quietly and remember, under Biden he had an open border policy, so while he deported 4 million, he and Myorkas lied when asked about the border being secure and allowing over 10 million illegals in, kick out a few illegals through the front door and then letting in millions more through the back.

Trump is on track to deport about 2.5 million or less in 4 years based on the current rate.

That number will significantly rise within the next few years

The difference is competence and intent. The Trump Administration is filled with incompetent people intent on creating chaos so they can claim to solve it. Their intent is not deportation, it's media control and to intimidate the entire population.

No, quite the opposite, the left and their agitators and open border supporters are well funded by a bunch of radical Marxists and Socialists, its online the list of radical groups who are funding this, irrefutable.

Here's a Tweet from Christie Noem in 2024 when Biden was going to stop Texas from interfering in the border, because the border control is a federal responsibility. States have no jurisdiction.

The President can in fact use Federal law to override state law in certain circumstances

When asked why he didn't send the National Guard during the Jan 6th riot at the Capitol, Trump said:

Ask Pelosi

See? They aren't serious. They're partisan hypocrites.

The left should and do know this.

L.A. Mayor Karen Bass gives interview on ICE raids, protests, looting

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wb3f7T4ooDs

Karen Bass is in a politically motivated state of blinkered denial, under playing the rioting.

So must be held fully accountable, shielding criminal undocumented illegal immigration.

I understand a federal judge had denied California Governor Gavin Newsom's emergency motion. The appalling acts of burning and spitting on The Star-Spangled Banner.

LA Mayor Karen Bass promises to protect illegal immigration n her city….

“My message is simple, no matter where you were born, how you came to this country, Los Angeles will stand with you, and this will not change.”

Unfolding now - a brigade of "protestors" armed with Mexican flags just flooded onto highway 101 (close to the federal buildings in photos), aggressively blocking multi-lane heavy traffic, intimidating commuters. Messy situation. Cut a fence or gate to gain access.

Local authorities - meaning Gavin - cannot handle this. Weak response again to lawlessness.

Precisely why Trump is correct and troops are needed to reinforce federal buildings, assets, personnel and general crowd control.

Precisely why Trump is correct and troops are needed to reinforce federal buildings, assets, personnel and general crowd control.

The best thing that Trump can do is refocus ICE to going after criminals like he promised.

Aggressively going after undocumented immigrants who are not criminals is what is creating this problem.

Here's a Tweet from Christie Noem in 2024 when Biden was going to stop Texas from interfering in the border, because the border control is a federal responsibility. States have no jurisdiction.

"If Joe Biden federalizes the National Guard, that would be a direct attack on states' rights."

When asked why he didn't send the National Guard during the Jan 6th riot at the Capitol, Trump said:

"I have no authority to send in the National Guard without being asked by the state or District..."

See? They aren't serious. They're partisan hypocrites.

They don't see. Trump can be 100% against something one day and 100% for it the next, but the MAGA crowd see no problem with that whatsoever.

I do not support violence caused by right-wing and left-wing agents who are not the protesters but people taking advantage of the situation in come dark. I don't remember you speaking out about the violence of Jan 6 when more than 1,000 Trump supporters stormed the Capitol Building to stop the legal handover of power in an insurrection.

Today - Residents say the scent of smoke and fire hung in the air, and piles of ash littered the streets of Los Angeles from the burnt vehicles that were ignited during the protests.

Crazy news, videos from LA continue , damage increase- violent demonstators again make trouble, set fires, spray grafiti and damage the city. Police and national guard must arrest all such trouble makers and bring peace to LA.

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

Now there is a 8pm curfew, great.

That's why the convicted felon who dodged a whole raft of other charges on a technicality (winning an election) and has weaponized the DOJ like nobody before has no legitimate claim to being a "law 'n' order" guy. Gaslighting has its limits.

Donald Trump and MAGA are anarchists

No, the people living there are the anarchists and you don’t have a lot of MAGA in LA County, so it’s not them.

bent on destroying the country and ignoring The Constitution.

Newsom destroyed California a long time ago, and if anyone is destroying the constitution, it’s not the right. When we protest, we just boycott stuff, less violent and I don’t to sweat

Well obviously, because they're the greatest existential threat ever to the United States and its way of life. Possibly even to all lifeforms everywhere.

Or rather, they're a "problem" that the Trump administration can make a big show of dealing with to draw attention away from the fact that they're useless at dealing with anything else.

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

Well obviously, because they're the greatest existential threat ever to the United States and its way of life. Possibly even to all lifeforms everywhere.

Most of the 10 million illegals allowed into the country were never vetted, so that in itself poses a serious problem.

They are “illegal” so on that issue alone they broke the law, case closed

Or rather, they're a "problem" that the Trump administration can make a big show of dealing with to draw attention away from the fact that they're useless at dealing with anything else.

No, they’re a problem for the Dems, I know you don’t know this as someone living across the pond, but in California when they do their census count, they count people, not just citizens, you do that then you have no way of every knowing who’s who, now who does that help congressionally? The Democrats, this is why my former home state is one party ruled state, so it’s a definite threat to their power base.

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

The “list” is only — and only allegedly — the ACLU, and it’s posted by some rando on X without any proof.

Not alleged, fact, if that were the case their names wouldn’t be included as sponsors. Either way, they won’t win.

I wonder if things like this would be necessary (curfews, marines, law enforcement, etc.) if Americans could wean themselves off their insatiable need to make literally every single issue about politics.
