“the only glitch in two months”

And Hillary’s emails, which didn’t have war plans, were only a glitch as well?

Hypocrisy.

30 ( +37 / -7 )

Yeah he wanted Clinton locked up for a minor glitch.

The double standards and twisting of the truth would make a street criminal blush in embarrassment

Trump downplays national security team texting military operation plan on Signal as minor 'glitch'

Of course he does. He never admitted a mistake in his life, even though he's made nothing but mistakes. Why would he admit to anything now? But people (with a working brain) aren't buying it.

33 ( +36 / -3 )

The Trump Administration is looking to be a major glitch.

31 ( +35 / -4 )

Of course he does. He never admitted a mistake in his life, even though he's made nothing but mistakes. Why would he admit to anything now? But people (with a working brain) aren't buying it.

Oh, stop, the last administration never fired anyone for any infraction or admitted to any wrongdoing regardless of how big or small. Like Trump said, he stands by his staff and they will be more careful. Humans make errors.

-41 ( +2 / -43 )

bass4funk

Oh, stop, the last administration never fired anyone for any infraction or admitted to any wrongdoing regardless of how big or small. Like Trump said, he stands by his staff and they will be more careful. Humans make errors.

So, were Hillary’s emails a human error?

26 ( +29 / -3 )

Of course, he does but the incident of Hilary Clinton and a private email server said' Lock her up!'

28 ( +30 / -2 )

Loose lips sink ships…

21 ( +23 / -2 )

Oh, stop, the last administration never fired anyone for any infraction

Because the members of the last administration weren't doing these type of insanely stupid things on a daily basis, probably.

Humans make errors.

Incompetent humans make much worse errors. And this administration has nothing but incompetent humans in it.

26 ( +29 / -3 )

So, were Hillary’s emails a human error?

By storing them and a private server in a restaurant in a public restroom??? Rhetorical question??

-34 ( +1 / -35 )

bass4funk

So, were Hillary’s emails a human error?

By storing them and a private server in a restaurant in a public restroom??? Rhetorical question??

Do you know where Signal’s servers are? No, you don’t. Does the government have control of those servers? No, they don’t. It’s known that foreign actors constantly try to breach Signal’s security.

This is a far more serious breach of security.

23 ( +24 / -1 )

Humans make errors.

And humans answer for their mistakes in accordance with the law. This wasn't an honest mistake. It was ignoring well understood rules about handling classified materials that date back decades.

For Mr. Hegseth, Mr. Rubio and Ms. Gabbard there are no excuses for what they did. First of all last month the NSA issued a report pointing out the vulnerabilities of Signal. The week before the discussion the DoD sent out a memo to employees warning them not to use Signal for any kind of official discussions. Mr. Hegseth and Ms. Gabbard are reserve officers and will have completed annual security refreshers including the annual Cyber Security Challenge each year of their service. They know the rules regarding use of unclassified and unsecured networks. And considering that Marco Rubio hold the highest clearance and served on the Senate Committee on Intelligence and Senate Committee on Foreign Relations he of all people ought to know the rules regarding use of unclassified and unsecured networks.

As for the contention that nothing classified was discussed, Jeffrey Goldberg is saying that claim is "a lie" and now he is saying he will release to the public the contents of those texts. Hey, if there is nothing classified on them then there is no problem with him doing so. Right?

18 ( +20 / -2 )

I don’t remember . . .

I don’t recall . . .

20 ( +22 / -2 )

By storing them and a private server in a restaurant in a public restroom???

Word-salad of conspiracy.

You are right,

Yes I am, thank you.

Afghanistan would be one of those instances.

I agree! Trump should have never negociated that horrible withdrawal, it was also extremely incompetent and led to a disaster.

19 ( +21 / -2 )

And humans answer for their mistakes in accordance with the law.

Hillary didn’t, Biden didn’t, Lois Lerner didn’t, Eric Holder didn’t, Susan Rice didn’t….yeah, don’t go there.

This wasn't an honest mistake. It was ignoring well understood rules about handling classified materials that date back decades.

Well, there you go, you said it “ignoring” the rules, you just made my point for me.

Word-salad of conspiracy.

No, it happened, documented, confirmed, indisputable and irrefutable.

I agree!

You have to, Biden ordered it as the sitting President.

-24 ( +2 / -26 )

This is a leak, the question whether intentional.

Seriously?

“Inadvertently” shared, with Jeffrey Goldberg a prominent journalist for the Atlantic?

Focus on the content……

Waltz..“It will have to be the United States that reopens these shipping lanes, compile the cost associated and levy them on the Europeans”.

Vance .. “If you think we should do it let’s go. I just hate bailing Europe out again,”

Hegseth..“I fully share your loathing of European free-loading. It’s pathetic, we are the only ones on the planet (on our side of the ledger) who can do this.”

The animosity loathing towards European governments is politically beyond precedent.

What await Europe’s economies April 2nd when reciprocal tariffs could engulf EU/UK, Trump administration refers to the 'dirty 15'?

What Europe stands to lose from Trump’s latest threatened tariffs

https://think.ing.com/articles/the-eus-gdp-exposure-to-trumps-trade-policy-europe-growth/

Paranoia maybe, but all the same the timing of this leak hints a deliberate act

-8 ( +5 / -13 )

When you’ve got a leader who thinks the rules don’t apply to him, his minions act the same way.

17 ( +19 / -2 )

Witkoff was in Moscow while on the group chat. This is what happens when your only metric for high ranking government positions is willingness to bow to trump- not experience, not competence, fealty and fealty only.

13 ( +17 / -4 )

No war plans. Mission went off like clockwork. Lessons learned. First time and not a hanging offense. Used in previous administration. 110% a glitch.

Plus, no one was held responsible for the ACTUAL REAL war planning documents leaked last October, and published by Iran. Plus, Hillary server was FAR more outrageous. Her general conduct was an affront to public decency.

The selective, manufactured outrage needs to stop and come up with something decent for once.

-16 ( +3 / -19 )

I would not get hung up on Clinton, Democrats, all are an irrelevance, sidelined, at present in a political wilderness, harping without the means to change opinion.

It is the clear change in geopolitical global power, that this leak signifies.

It must also be viewed from the fact US/Russia are resetting a relationship, that under Biden administration was in various states of deep freeze.

-8 ( +3 / -11 )

itsonlyrocknroll

I would not get hung up on Clinton, Democrats, all are an irrelevance, sidelined, at present in a political wilderness, harping without the means to change opinion

Boy, are you in for a surprise.

11 ( +13 / -2 )

This is the problem you have when your president is a convicted felon who lies like crazy. His entire cabinet is made up of amateurs who are incompetent. Also, if they’re going to smear the name of the journalist who reported this story calling him a liar, then this journalist should release all of the secret details he’s aware of so that we can all see for ourselves the incompetence of these people under a bright light.

14 ( +18 / -4 )

One word: Kakistocracy

11 ( +12 / -1 )

Perfect word Underworld. Absolutely the perfect world.

9 ( +10 / -1 )

Well, at least we learned JD Vance thinks Trump is a buffoon. That’s something positive.

14 ( +15 / -1 )

Goldberg got evidence,he can legally reveal it

5 ( +7 / -2 )

Same playbook with Trump and his administration. Deflect all responsibility for any mistakes and blunders made, but take claim for any accomplishments even when it's not his. Throw your enemies, and even your own people, under the bus when convenient. Extort and threaten those who don't believe everything you say. Everyone should not be surprised anymore that this is the kind of person Trump is.

12 ( +13 / -1 )

And humans answer for their mistakes in accordance with the law. This wasn't an honest mistake. It was ignoring well understood rules about handling classified materials that date back decades.

...and this is the gist of USA's political problem fake news taken up by lemmings ^^^ and sprouting even more fake opinions.

There was NO, NONE, classified info being discussed. Houthis strategic attack plans were NOT discussed, announcement of attacks were flagged and announced TO THE WROLD and warned of much earlier, including to Iran, publicly by Trump administration. The press even reported it furiously.

It was a glaring misstep that a journalist was included in the chat, and even more of a misstep that the journalist didn't bring it to the attention of the group. The chat themselves were purely personal opinions, none of it has been disseminated as policy to the EU or any other allies.

Storm in a tea cup. Fake one at that. Now compare that to Hillary doing business, using classified info, for years, on private email, and I'm not making a judgement on this, I think if she didn't trust government infrastructure, then perhaps it was justifiable.

-12 ( +1 / -13 )

Underworld

Democrats have been sidelined, the question here is the content of this leak, the implications to US/European relations that have been strong for decades appear to be in a state of political diplomatic prostration.

My surprise is the use of signal for such a sensitive policy discussion.

-3 ( +3 / -6 )

admitted to any wrongdoing regardless of how big or small.

And the opposition pointed out the 10 mistakes Biden made.

Sadly, we have 10 mistakes every day that Trump makes which impact millions of lives.

While I'm sure some of the people hired by Trump this time aren't incompetent, those aren't the people being shown to the world.

It is about time for Trump to start firing "the best people" since they aren't hiding his incompetence sufficiently. I don't think that's possible and more than making Alabama part of Florida with a Sharpie is possible.

10 ( +11 / -1 )

“Michael Waltz has learned a lesson, and he’s a good man," Trump said in the NBC interview.

lesson learned, just as I said yesterday.

-21 ( +2 / -23 )

First of all last month the NSA issued a report pointing out the vulnerabilities of Signal. The week before the discussion the DoD sent out a memo to employees warning them not to use Signal for any kind of official discussions

I call BS on this. the warning was very specific. That there's vulnerability associated with links and QR code redirecting to malicious destination. First, how would the bad actor insert him/herself to the chat in the first place, second - people just don't click on random stuff while chatting.

The same warning could be applicable for any app. encrypted or not. Let's not make politics a gaslighting opportunity. Debate on ideas, not person or party.

-13 ( +1 / -14 )

“ You have got to be kidding me,” Clinton said in an X post that spotlighted The Atlantic article.

that’s what I want to say! Of all the people who would be opening their mouth about this matter, the liberals let Hillary talk?

Thanks, I guess! lol

-17 ( +2 / -19 )

Just imagine the response if the Democrats had done this?

Total clown show.

20 ( +21 / -1 )

So much win, MAGA are you already tired of so much win?

Do you feel great now that the war plan was sent directly to a journalist?

13 ( +16 / -3 )

Same playbook with Trump and his administration. Deflect all responsibility for any mistakes and blunders made, but take claim for any accomplishments even when it's not his. Throw your enemies, and even your own people, under the bus when convenient. Extort and threaten those who don't believe everything you say. Everyone should not be surprised anymore that this is the kind of person Trump is.

Spoken like a true liberal. Shove the blame. Keep trying, doubt 2028 will be the year though.

-16 ( +1 / -17 )

maga hypocrites.

If only the Biden administration had known “1st time offence, lesson learned, lets move on” was sufficient.

11 ( +13 / -2 )

Don't seem to recall Hillary actually facing any repercussions

You forgot the months-long expensive investigations by republican-led committees and the actual FBI?

6 ( +10 / -4 )

Yes, Hillary's offense was months-long, had an active coverup (phones smashed with hammers, data deleted) and much more extensive/serious.

-10 ( +2 / -12 )

JJE

Don't seem to recall Hillary actually facing any repercussions or having to quit or be sacked.

Yup. Because she didn’t compromise classified information (one document was classified after the fact).

The classification level that was leaked here was SCIF level. Much, much more serious.

8 ( +11 / -3 )

Mr Kipling - right on hte ball.

Imagine for an instance if this was under Biden.

The wails and shrieks and baying for blood would be deafening.

The Faux news would be lit up like a Xmas tree.

Hypocrites.

Re Mike Walz - there's only one possible outcome - Lock him up, Lock him up - lol.

9 ( +11 / -2 )

JD Vance is positioning his candidacy 2028....

Vance views....

“I am not sure the president is aware how inconsistent this is with his message on Europe right now, there’s a further risk that we see a moderate to severe spike in oil prices. I am willing to support the consensus of the team and keep these concerns to myself. But there is a strong argument for delaying this a month, doing the messaging work on why this matters, seeing where the economy is, etc.”

There is also a lot of posturing on "freedom of navigation, pre-establish deterrence" on future air strikes.

It is worth noting close to 40% of European trade moves through the Suez canal,

-9 ( +1 / -10 )

Tulsi Gabbard said that the information discussing the plans for attack wasn't classified, but she also couldn't confirm that she was on the chat, or which phone she used to participate in the chat.

I hope that puts everyone's minds at rest.

7 ( +10 / -3 )

Americans want results regarding Global Peace, border security, crime, inflation and downsizing US Govt. to make it more efficient and less corrupt, not Media inspired controversies that amount to a hill of beans.

Clearly most Democrats would rather focus on such media inspired nonsense than actually deliver real solutions the American people are demanding.

-12 ( +1 / -13 )

This is the MAGA story:

1) No war plans were discussed. (This is false, because they were.)

2) And so what if they were. This is what "professionals" do when sharing ideas.

3) None of the war plans (that were apparently not discussed) were classified information. But we can't say because the matter is under review. Which is classified.

4) Jeffrey Goldberg (or "Jonah", as one of our posters calls him) is a dirty leftist who is jeopardizing American security by reporting classified war plans that were not discussed and were not classified.

5) No problem because mission accomplished and lesson learned from the mistakes that weren't made.

6) Pete Hegseth is a true warfighting warrior. Just look at his jacket liner, which in no way violates the flag code.

7) And Jeffrey (Jonah) Goldberg . . . grrrrrrrrr!

7 ( +11 / -4 )

What amazes me after all this, from Trump stealing classified documents to top secret combat plans getting leaked to the press, the Trump fanatics still only can talk about the utterly trivial matter of Hillary Clinton's emails.

8 ( +12 / -4 )

Debate on ideas, not person or party.

Trump has only ever debated on people, usually through childish insults. He had no time for ideas other than essays to enrich the Trump cartel and seize more power for himself.

6 ( +8 / -2 )

Let think about this, as a business with customer confidentially, the dangers of sensitive software product development etc, every "online meeting" must be micromanaged step by step.

The list of participants closely vetted.

How the flip was Atlantic journalist Jeffrey Goldberg "inadvertently" added to the "team".

Doesn't happen.

-2 ( +3 / -5 )

Do you really think that plans to possibly attach the Houthis again isn't pretty much common knowledge at this point?

Exactly!!!, and the fake media wasn't shy when they ran with Trump threatened Iran if the didn't reign in Houthis weeks earlier.

Meanwhile, same fake media forgets opening shipping lanes is crucial to world trade, especially for energy supply to Europe. Same with Tesla and reducing emission, and fastest growing car company in the US employing Americans.

-6 ( +4 / -10 )

Each participant would have required a coded log in?

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

There is no excuse for this, however, let’s refresh everyone’s memory:

(Disinformation is also part of Warfare)

https://youtu.be/WIARMMtUdZQ?si=PLxQ3csmrPY66Www

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

This tells us all we need to know, and more, about the media's raging bias.

Oh, I forgot another bit of the MAGA narrative:

8) Trump is the greatest president in the history of the universe. 358.7 historic accomplishments in two months. Total world peace within grasp. Golden Age coming soon. Liberals on the run after landslide mandate wipeout. Legacy media trying to deflect from that.

9 ( +12 / -3 )

Literally the only thing that surprised me about this was that they were using Signal, rather than Telegram like Uncle Vlad told them.

7 ( +10 / -3 )

"Crooked Hillary Clinton and her team 'were extremely careless in their handling of very sensitive, highly classified information.' Not fit!"

Can you guess who said this?

10 ( +12 / -2 )

Narcissist's Prayer by our right-wing posters.

That didn't happen.

And if it did, it wasn't that bad.

And if it was, that's not a big deal.

And if it is, that's not my fault.

And if it was, I didn't mean it.

And if I did, you deserved it.

15 ( +16 / -1 )

What a huge scandal and embarrassment - and a potentially major compromise of highly classified information...

I've been in the military for over 35 years - sensitive targeting and attack information is ALWAYS classified - usually at the highest levels - most beyond Top Secret. These Trump officials that are saying it isn't are lying through their teeth....as they usually do...

And we learn that not only Hegseth but Ratcliffe, Gabbard, and Vance were also on the email - and none of them did anything to raise the concern of a security breach - amazing...

But what isn't amazing is that sloppy handling of our nation's secrets is anything but SOP in the administration headed by an incompetent Moron that stole classified, violated a subpoena to return it, had his lawyer lie in writing saying they had no more, hid the rest, and then told his aides to destroy evidence on security tapes.

If Hegseth is wondering if Trump's pleas of support mean anything there's one person he can ask - Mike Pence...

Trump will dump him - and Hegseth will be history....the sooner the better...

6 ( +8 / -2 )

To the rest of us, moving on.

lmao

Reasonable posters: The administration should take responsibility.

MAGA: No. I don't want them to. Therefore this conversation is over.

RP: But... they broke thew la-

MAGA: I SAID THIS CONVERSATION IS OVER I AM BUSY LICKING BOOTS

11 ( +12 / -1 )

Tulsi Gabbard said that the information discussing the plans for attack wasn't classified, but she also couldn't confirm that she was on the chat, or which phone she used to participate in the chat

Absolutely ridiculous. What a circus.

Who else is going to get an invite to this kind of chat? Chachi?

8 ( +9 / -1 )

According to a Pentagon “OPSEC special bulletin” seen by NPR reporters and sent on 18 March, Russian hacking groups may exploit the vulnerability in Signal to spy on encrypted organizations, potentially targeting “persons of interest”.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

Can you guess who said this?

James Comey, FBI Director

-12 ( +2 / -14 )

I've been in the military for over 35 years - sensitive targeting and attack information is ALWAYS classified - usually at the highest levels

yeah yeah, 35 years, as soon as I hear 'been doing this for...turns me right off', like a carpenter telling me he's been doing it for 40 years, and that it's ok roof leaks'.

Why don't you quote the exact wording of the bit that's 'sooooo classified'? Seems to me half the media that you gleaned your opinions from is STILL quoting the entire chat. Not so classified now eh?

-9 ( +0 / -9 )

Hillary? Other secretaries of state had their own mail servers including Powell. This came before Hillary.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Same people, same comments as yesterday.

will this be posted tomorrow too? It seems to be a “hit” with the obsessed left here.

To the rest of us, moving on.

No, the proper avenue would be to have an investigation and hearing and punishment. At my job, there is a clear clause stating that no private information should be divulged. Otherwise, there will be meeting in which I would need to explain myself, and discussion as to either probation, dock in pay, or dismissal, depending on the severity of the violation. In any job, at least an honest one, there are clear rules written in anyone's contracts to protect people's privacy. It is not some honest mistake like forgetting someone's name, or misprinting a word. This is serious stuff, and to be so flippant about it, is disgraceful.

9 ( +9 / -0 )

https://youtu.be/zcTGTFNXJss?si=2aRIggd4_Nc3Qnsg

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

What makes this "huuuugely" humiliating for Trump is he just pulled the Harris' and Clinton's security clearances - just for spite...

Now he has to explain why his SECDEF still has a clearance after being caught sending highly classified information over an unsecure network...that also included his CIA Director and Director of National Security who were all in the group and did nothing...you know, the two folks who's primary job is PROTECTING our information...

"Remember her emails" just became "Remember his warplan"...

Just the latest example of Trump 2.0 and MAGA-world self-imploding...

Tulsi Gabbard said that the information discussing the plans for attack wasn't classified, but she also couldn't confirm that she was on the chat, or which phone she used to participate in the chat

Absolutely ridiculous. What a circus.

Who else is going to get an invite to this kind of chat? Chachi?

LMAO - then I thought about it a little and realized it could be true...

5 ( +8 / -3 )

Trump told NBC News that the lapse “turned out not to be a serious one," and articulated his continued support for national security adviser Mike Waltz, who mistakenly added the editor-in-chief of The Atlantic, Jeffrey Goldberg, to the chain that included 18 senior administration officials discussing planning for the strike.

“Michael Waltz has learned a lesson, and he’s a good man," Trump said in the NBC interview.

Even though they were able to complete the mission, it doesn't make it right. It's like someone who shoots a gun in a crowded shopping mall, but no one gets hit or hurt, it doesn't mean the shooter can get away without being punished for it. Someone made a mistake in using an unsecured line and needs to be punished for it. Otherwise, it could happen again.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

Someone made a mistake in using an unsecured line and needs to be punished for it.

remind me, were Hillary or Joe Biden “punished”?

let the punishment of Mike Waltz’s staffer match that.

-13 ( +3 / -16 )

Signal App has a history of 'technical' difficulties, Hillary Clinton experienced them while at the State Dept and campaigning for President in 2016 for example.

Elon Musk has said that all Govt. IT is 'legacy garbage' and for this reason, politicians and others are using private sector solutions like the popular Signal App.

DJT needs a secure Messaging App fix ASAP, like he just Upgraded 1600 Email Servers to Starlink Service, expect a Secure Starlink Signal Messaging App SOON!

Good news, 99% US voters care not about Signal App "technical difficulties" and understand high level of corruption around anything DJT & 'Got Ya' Smear Politics

PS. Above about Signal App, DJT, US Politics= RELEVANT

-14 ( +1 / -15 )

This is the ultimate dream of the right wing.

They want to be protected by laws, but not bound by them. But they want you to be bound by laws, but not protected by them.

8 ( +10 / -2 )

Good news, 99% US voters care not about Signal App "technical difficulties"

Oh wait!

Yet again, we are going to need clarification on that.

No hints, translations or spoiler alerts necessary.

9 ( +9 / -0 )

Besides the obvious security implications and potential for our enemies to now know our most sensitive secrets, what really worries me is when Trump fires Hegseth, which we all know he will...is who does he then bring in? it will obviously be someone even more of an incompetent moron and suck-up than Pete...

What scares me is there is one person already mentioned in this thread that may have the inside track....

Chachi...

7 ( +8 / -1 )

This isn't the first, nor will it be the last "minor glitch" in the criminal career of D.J. Trump, who will himself go down as another "major glitch" in American history. As a result of this leak we now know the names of all the American war criminals responsible for yet another illegal attack with impunity on Yemen. In place of accountability History will hand down its verdict at a later date.

5 ( +7 / -2 )

Elon Musk already on the record, saying a secure Starlink messaging App will be available for high-ranking Govt. officials very soon. Why?

Because he's a grifter exploiting huge conflicts of interests.

6 ( +8 / -2 )

There was NO, NONE, classified info being discussed. Houthis strategic attack plans were NOT discussed,

That is not the case. The targets, timing of the attacks and weapons to be employed against them were all discussed in those chats before the attacks were executed.

8 ( +9 / -1 )

So it was terrible what Hilary did, but Trumps was a Glitch. Not incompetence?

Anyway, pot, kettle, and Black come to mind. But only so long as you're a MAGA fan. Double standards.

Hypocrite? Security breach aside, it has done untold damage to our allies. Anyway, do you want to support the next U.S war? Nope! Keep digging America. You won't have many friends at this rate.

To be honest what we are really observing in real time is the intelligence of the average U.S voter.

2 ( +5 / -3 )

Like Trump said, he stands by his staff and they will be more careful. Humans make errors.

Hillarys emails contained no top secret information, Its illegal for anybody handling top secret information to use an unscure line of communication, especially the secretary of defence. Wiskeyleaks

-2 ( +4 / -6 )

Well ok, I guess we would expect the results of the trial for the staffer of Walz to be a similar outcome of the Biden and Hillary trials then.

oh wait…..never mind.

-14 ( +4 / -18 )

let the punishment of Mike Waltz’s staffer match that.

Nonsense....if any one of the myriad of Trump officials, to include his boss Hegseth, would have immediately identified this as a major breach of information security, and ordered the entire conversation moved to a classified platform, them maybe the fallout could be limited....

Bit they didn't - none of them did - to include Ratcliffe and Gabbard whose PRIMARY JOB is protecting our classified secrets...

So they are all complicit in this huge security breach - and must be held accountable...

And an immediate investigation should be started that reviews information security practices throughout the entire Trump administration - as this example is likely only the tip of the iceberg in terms of sloppy handling of our nation's most sensitive secrets...

3 ( +6 / -3 )

Elon Musk has said that all Govt. IT is 'legacy garbage' and for this reason, politicians and others are using private sector solutions like the popular Signal App.

Not legacy garbage. What makes US Government IT hard to use are the many layers of security. Many features we take for granted in the MS Office Suite are not allowed on Govt. computers because they have been exploited by foreign adversaries to gain access and steal information. I use macros every single day and those are going away soon because they are a security risk. VBA went away a while back. The only way you can get some features on your desktop is to qualify as a "developer' and live under stricter rules or have a stand alone machine not connected to the network. There are programs used by logisticians and engineers that can't be on any machine connected to the network because there are vulnerabilities. So you have to have stand alone machines but that makes it hard to use the results elsewhere. Just a whole lot of clunkiness because Govt IT staff have learned the hard way that a lot of commercial software that people love have vulnerabilities that adversaries know how to exploit.

Unfortunately some government leaders don't have the patience to deal with the software shortcomings their staff have to deal with and go around and outside the official network with applications like Signal. It is more than a simple IT policy violation but an actual violation of Federal law.

11 ( +11 / -0 )

"Trump downplays national security team texting military operation plan on Signal as minor 'glitch'"

Nothing Burger to see there, just follow the auto-pen and find out how really national security was compromised for the last four years to the point no one knows who was in charge.

-12 ( +2 / -14 )

the left: weeeeeee want someone to take responsibility!!!

Ok all done:

“National Security Advisor Mike Waltz takes responsibility for 'embarrassing' Signal chat leak. Waltz confirmed 'no classified information' was disclosed in the text exchange which included the Atlantic's editor-in-chief”

-13 ( +4 / -17 )

“National Security Advisor Mike Waltz takes responsibility for 'embarrassing' Signal chat leak. Waltz confirmed 'no classified information' was disclosed in the text exchange which included the Atlantic's editor-in-chief”

Cool, so how will he take responsibility?

If your partner cheats on you and says, "yeah I cheated, I did it", that doesn't mean taking responsibility.

It is acknowledgement. But it is not responsibility.

Everyone involved should resign. Including the VP.

5 ( +12 / -7 )

the part about wanting to extract money from europe for the operation and no one in the world could do it except the u.s. tells just how deep the stupidity is.

nobody, including europe, asked the u.s. to do anything. if the u.s. is the only country that could pull it off, why did they want sooner rather than later because some other country might do it before them?

deep stupid is the hallmark of this administration.

why?

we signed an executive order requiring proof of citizenship to vote, restarted deportation flights of violent illegals to Venezuela, shut down the activist judge about El Salvador and got a bended knee from Columbia university. Productive day!

They endangered US national security.

oh so you want them to resign and/or be “held accountable” like everyone involved in the death of 13 US military members in that botched Afghanistan withdrawal?

Or like the people who were held accountable for drone striking an entire innocent Afghan family?

oh wait….never mind.

Everyone involved should resign. Including the VP.

OK sure, now lets get back to the real world.

When SECDEF Pete Hegseth first learned of this huge compromise of classified information in his department, he immediately picked up the phone and called....the President? The Vice President? The National Security Advisor?

No, he immediately called Fox News and asked them if his talk show gig was still open...

oh so you want them to resign and/or be “held accountable” like everyone involved in the death of 13 US military members in that botched Afghanistan withdrawal?

Or like the people who were held accountable for drone striking an entire innocent Afghan family?

Yesterday, confronted by reporters, Trump denied he’d even heard about the story. Later, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said the President “continues to have the utmost confidence in his national security team, including National Security Advisor Mike Waltz.”

in a statement confirming the text messages were authentic, National Security Council spokesman Brian Hughes said, “The thread is a demonstration of the deep and thoughtful policy coordination between senior officials. The continuing success of the Houthi operation demonstrates that there were no threats to our servicemembers or our national security.”

Other Trump allies, like House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) and Gordon Sondland, Trump’s EU ambassador during the first term, defended the inadvertent disclosures. “The media will turn this into a story of incompetence or inexperience, which it is not. In the past, Signal has been as secure as many of the so-called top-secret encrypted systems, so I would not criticize its use,” Sonland told the WSJ.

Advisers can be burnt at the stake, long before the elected politicians.

Advisers are expendable quickly, most have a "sell by date", here today gone tomorrow.

The gross incompetence and the little care they take for the US most secret war plan is unbelievable.

And yet, some MAGA here are still defending this and they find no problem to publish the states secret... of course trump is Cc.. putin on all he is doing.
