Can't even be arsed to follow correct procedure?

Republican Sens. John Thune of South Dakota, John Cornyn of Texas and Rick Scott of Florida are running in a secret ballot election Wednesday to lead the GOP conference and replace longtime GOP leader Mitch McConnell, who is stepping aside from the job after almost two decades.

I hope these intellectual giants are ready to pass a clean debt ceiling. Maybe John Thune would.

The former Insurrectionist-in-Chief doing what he does best … anarchy and chaos from before day one …!

“ . . . right away without vote”

And without any guardrails.

Well your king has spoken,

Why do you Europeans care so much? Why? I seriously want to know the reason.

I'm not European. I will receive the same benefits of a Trump invasion of Taiwan as you will.

-5 ( +18 / -23 )

You must fight like hell or you wont have a country. Trump the wannabe dictator must be fought at every step.

-4 ( +17 / -21 )

Sorry Trump, Senate approval of cabinet appointments is the job of the 119th US Congress which starts January 3, 2025.

-14 ( +11 / -25 )

I'm not European.

Yeah, of course not

I will receive the same benefits of a Trump invasion of Taiwan as you will.

I'm not worried about that.

He noted that recess appointments are allowed under the Constitution.

well ok then, that’s what we will be doing.

-1 ( +22 / -23 )

Wow.....dictator from day -70.

-1 ( +22 / -23 )

How’s he a “dictator” when the Constitution allows this?

-5 ( +18 / -23 )

And why the heck he didn't go fully dictator in the 4 years he was in office?

You're being lied again.........

Just look at this picture, the aura.

Last night I watched a video on Youtube of Trump watching Kamala speech with Matt Gaetz, Susie Wiles and Tulsi Gabbard. One with the richest men on earth with a whole Empire + celebrity Status and the Master of communication, he didn't have to move a finger to secure an extremely comfortable life for himself and several generations to come, but you can feel he craves for power and leadership, Mr. Trump truly wants to be in charge of America and the World. I don't believe we have any person more aspirational as this Man right now.

The whole world is celebrating.

The Army, citizens of all colours, religions, everyone.

It's a completely different vibe from the last years and he's not even in charge yet.

Reason of removal: Offensive / Vulgar LOL

Trump is the reason there is now a Republican majority in the Senate.

now leftists expect the leader of that majority to not fall exactly in line with what they are told to do?

Democrats don’t have the votes to stop anything so what’s the reason for any delay? Let’s get to work!

We’re going to be hearing a lot about “mandate” and “serves at the pleasure of the President” and such. From people who prefer authoritarian strongmen to checks on executive power.

moaning from day one?

-5 ( +10 / -15 )

From people who prefer authoritarian strongmen to checks on executive power.

That’s rich as Biden spent the last 4 years doing whatever he wanted using Kamala as the tie breaking vote.

We’re going to be hearing a lot about “mandate” and “serves at the pleasure of the President” and such.

Yup!

From people who prefer authoritarian strongmen to checks on executive power.

No, from a President who won in a landslide, where people said, "We repudiate the last administration. Please take us forward."

It is very promising to see a great leader acting like this.

Congratulations to the American voters who decided to have enough of high consumer goods and energy prices, who do not want males competing against women in sports, who want to protect the integrity of their country's border, and who are still enjoying the doom and gloom of the Democrtss and their supporters.

These are great times.

-12 ( +6 / -18 )

Please take us forward."

“we never going back! Turn the page!”

they were at least right there.

we are turning the page from Democrats and going forward with Trump.

In a statement on X and Truth Social, Trump said that the next leader “must agree” to allow him to make appointments when the chamber is on recess, bypassing a confirmation vote.

Have and impression that 'must agree' is going to be an oft used expression in the upcoming Trump admin.

Democracy right?

No more of that balance of power amongst different branches of government.

MAGA and the recent election which is its culmination are what you get when you let in unchecked corporate monies; from SC justices and their billionaire patrons to Musk handing out million dollar checks to MAGA voters.

Thanks Citizens United decision.

The whole world is celebrating

?

I remember in his last term in office he was unpopular around the world in general, but popular among the Russian and Vietnamese people among the few according to polls.

His supporters quite liked the idea that he was unpopular around the world as it showed he put America first and the world feared him or something.

Has that changed?

They must be subject to a Senate vote. That is how democracy works. Dictators appoint without approval.

48% of the people did not vote for Trump.

7 ( +15 / -8 )

But with Trump’s approval paramount in the race, all three candidates quickly suggested that they might be willing to reconsider the practice. Scott replied to Trump, “100% agree. I will do whatever it takes to get your nominations through as quickly as possible.”

Trump wants to open the floodgates for his unvetted cronies.

It was bad enough the first time with Amway queen DeVos, billionaire commerce sec. Ross and border wall graft.

Looks like some people want more.

Trump can’t go a day without breaking rules to benefit himself.

7 ( +13 / -6 )

48% of the people did not vote for Trump

and 52% did.

democracy! (And math)

-14 ( +6 / -20 )

The best news about this, is that Trump won't have any choice on Mitch McConnell's replacement. Hopefully it is either John Thune or John Cornyn.

You mean 12-year-olds and stunted adults?

that’s all your leaders here who deserted you. Where did all those guys go?

Not my leaders and I couldn’t care less where they went.

Just saying the ‘liberal/leftist/MAGA/moron tears’ nonsense is the behaviour of children and stunted adults.

Disagree if you like.

he should go ahead to do it. if you’re going to try to kill the country, use a bunch of dull blades to bring maximum pain to everyone on the process.

i heard he’s putting a tariff on invasions.

go ahead and invade taiwan. i don’t care. just keep making my bibles, hats, t-shirts, everything in my hotels and pay trump org an invasion franchise fee.

hey, are cabinet ministers in parliamentary governments vetted and voted on by parliament?
