Thanks vaccines!!! Also probably because they are banned from sale overseas.

Trump's refrain is that the US doesn't need trading partners, as it can do everything itself. Looks like it can't.

Ukraine should sign an egg for guns deal with Trump.

10 ( +14 / -4 )

Black,

fact is this:

egg prices (average) at $6.47

Change since a year ago:

+$2.63

(as of 15 March 2025, may I add)

So, that's what I would call a roughly 40% increase under Donald's reign!

So, please, no more fake information!

12 ( +16 / -4 )

egg prices (average) at $6.47

nope.

“March 21The USDA released its weekly Egg Markets Overview report, which found wholesale egg prices continued to drop—though at a slower pace than the week before—falling to $3.27”

-14 ( +5 / -19 )

Black,

March 21

*"The California benchmark for Large shell eggs declined $2.30 to $7.18 per dozen with a lower undertone. Delivered prices on the California-compliant wholesale loose egg market increased $0.69 to $5.73 per dozen" (ams.usda.gov/mnreports)*

Strange things happening, right! The same Donald government agency - but different numbers.

Tell ya, those folks responsible in Donald's administration don't know numbers either!

California? Lol

“…prices have declined more than 57 percent to $3.45 per dozen, the lowest since late October 2024.”

US Egg Prices Far below Jan 20th now, DJT taking action unlike Sleepy Biden!

Great now how about every other product and the slumping stock market?

“…prices have declined more than 57 percent to $3.45 per dozen, the lowest since late October 2024.”

The only reason why prices for eggs are down is that demand is down. It is basic economics. When demand was high, but the supply was low, the prices went through the roof. People were even selling them on the black market online for outrageous prices. So, people have stopped buying eggs and seeking alternative sources. Heck, some people have even bought their own chickens. So the demand now for eggs are at an all-time low. As a result, prices have gone down to encourage people to buy eggs more. But with Trump taking away jobs from people, is any price for eggs low enough? Without a job, people will not be able to buy any eggs anyway.

You can try and split that hair strand in any direction you like, bottom line, egg prices are going down as well as other products, those are the ONLY things people care about-period

Prices down for a couple of weeks… and now they’re at the lowest since late October… cool…

I’ll be more interested in gauging the performance in six months.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

as other products,

Nope. Only egg prices are down. The price of other groceries are going up.

What did DJT do to decrease egg prices?

Wait, eggs are cheap now? So why is the agriculture secretary importing them from Korea and Turkey to "help ease prices"?

7 ( +9 / -2 )

Nope. Only egg prices are down. The price of other groceries are going up.

“We have had 23 consecutive months of year-over-year record demand.

as we go into now another demand period, which is the Easter and Passover holiday period, which are typically and seasonally the second highest market levels of the year if you look at the long-term market dynamics.”

and eggs last 3-5 weeks in the fridge. When’s Easter?

-5 ( +3 / -8 )

So you're basically saying that every American is so stupid that they would buy a product even though it's too expensive? I feel that Americans (at least most of them) are smart shoppers. They will buy products according to the market. A special occasion like Easter is not more important than saving money to have enough to live.

Also, demand is lower. Besides, the figures you posted for prices is misleading. The wholesale price of eggs has gone down. Yes, I do understand that some consumers would actually take the time and effort to drive all the way to a wholesaler and buy eggs at their cheaper prices. However, most cannot and have to pay the actual retail prices in stores. Retailers so far, have been unwilling to lower the prices to fit consumer needs.

Some households that turned to egg substitutes, like plant-based alternatives or powdered eggs, may find themselves sticking with these options even as fresh eggs become more affordable again. Others who reduced egg-heavy meals at home are slowly reintroducing them, particularly in baking and breakfast routines. However, the period of record-high prices seems to have changed how many consumers think about eggs—what was once considered one of the most affordable proteins has, at least temporarily, lost that reputation.

For many, the shift has also been psychological—after months of eggs being a luxury item rather than a household staple, shoppers may be more cautious in their purchasing habits moving forward. Eggs are back on the table, but consumer behavior will ultimately dictate whether demand returns to pre-inflation norms or if the past year has created a lasting shift in how people shop, cook, and eat.

Bottom line is shoppers are being more savvy, and rightfully so.

So why is the agriculture secretary importing them from Korea and Turkey to "help ease prices"?

To help ease prices, obviously.

We aren’t satisfied with just a 57% reduction, are you?

-9 ( +3 / -12 )

To help ease prices, obviously.

Ease means "to make less serious or severe.". Why would you ease low prices?

8 ( +9 / -1 )

To make them less serious or severe. Obviously.

-11 ( +2 / -13 )

we and President Trump want the very best prices for the American people.

a price can decrease 57% but still be reduced to an even lowER price. Can’t it?

-13 ( +2 / -15 )

To make them less serious or severe. Obviously.

So you're saying the price of eggs isn't low at all yet. OK, glad we cleared that up.

According to the governor of Illinois, DOGE got rid of all the food inspectors. This means that there aren’t enough inspectors to examine the food (including eggs) produced in the U.S.

This is a self inflicted wound caused by DOGE. Talk about government inefficiency!

10 ( +10 / -0 )

Shouldn't they be levying 200% tariffs on these foreign eggs to persuade chickens to relocate to the US and lay their eggs there?

8 ( +9 / -1 )

GBR48 -

That's the first thing I thought of when I heard this.

What level will the tariffs be, you know to protect farmers and put the Made in USA stamp on?

My Rules! I can change them whenever I want.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

Debunked, they absolutely have more than enough egg inspectors in the city of Chicago

Regarding the Illinois Department of Agriculture (IDOA), specific data on the number of inspectors dedicated to egg inspections in Chicago is not readily available. In 2024, the IDOA employed 1,011 individuals across various roles, including meat and poultry inspectors and veterinary consumer safety officers. However, the exact number of inspectors assigned specifically to egg inspections in Chicago is not specified in the available data.

Prices and unemployment have skyrocketed since trump took office. The American economy is just the latest trump business failure, and the biggest.

but the price of eggs has significantly decreased. That’s why the need to deflect to other things.

neither prices (of what?) nor unemployment have “skyrocketed” in the last 2 months.

link?

Yes, and those prices will go down in time once the markets have time to re-adjust and the vast majority of cuts are made, so once we are out of the turbulence blue skies will appear libs always think short term, that’s their problem.

-10 ( +0 / -10 )

What happened to MAGA’s idea of the US being self-sufficient?

Shouldn’t they be refusing foreign help?

Oh…what’s that? International cooperation is actually HELPFUL?

Shocking!

6 ( +6 / -0 )

but the price of eggs has significantly decreased

That is a good thing. And this goes with the share price is Tesla. That is another good thing. Tesla is dead last now in EV markets outside of the USA and once Trump allows better and cheaper EV companies to sell in the USA that will make USA EV prices follow the trend of lower egg prices under Trump. Thanks Trump...I'm looking forward to a cheaper and better EV compared to the aging and inferior model SS.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Shouldn’t they be refusing foreign help?

what “help”? We are purchasing these eggs. Unlike everyone else who demands free stuff.

-7 ( +2 / -9 )

That’s still help. They don’t have to sell to the U.S.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

Price of eggs under Biden = $2.75

Price of eggs under trump = $10

My question to you, which would you rather pay?

Trump has failed in every aspect of his job.
