Watch our MAGA-friends here twist themselves into pretzels trying to justify this trade when they dissed all the one's Biden made...

So basically they exchanged a hardened criminal, a cybercrime boss who fraudulently earned hundreds of millions of dollars, hurting a countless amount of people in thre process against... a doofus who travelled to Russia with marijuana.
This deal is absolutely horrible.

This Alexander Vinnik, judging by the looks of him, is probably on Elon Musk’s payroll.
It’s a win-win for both Musk & Putin!

And yet another great achievement by Trump.
Fogel languished in a Russian prison for almost 4 years under the Biden administration--which did nothing to get him home.
Fogel said on live tv that Trump is a hero, Rubio is a hero, the senators and representatives that were successful in getting him home are heroes.

That's a positive development too.
But the truth is this conflict is not about economics from Moscow's perspective. Rather national security comprised of existential threats to Russia, as well as protecting the decent people of the south-east.
Hopefully this minor prisoner exchange can facilitate future positive engagements.
Important to observe, in his WH press conference, Fogel went out of his way to say he was not mis-treated in any way, shape or form while confined. In fact, he said he was treated very well. Trump knew this - his statement about being "treated very nicely by Russia" was actually a two-pronged statement.

Small amount eh... Sure, they will just flag you through at a federal port of entry into the US when found with a similar amount, stashed away and not declared, with zero legal repercussions.
Pull the other one.

Why are you talking about the reverse situation happening? He was jailed in Russia. Stay on topic or just quit acting yfi.

And I bet that flag draped over his shoulders was his own idea too. Just happened to have it in his suitcase.

Hope you aren't asserting the American flag they displayed prominently during the post-release photo-ops for the 1/8/2024 exchange just happened to come out of their suitcases.

They weren’t wearing the flag about their shoulders.
Wearing a flag is not only tacky, it violates proper U.S. flag etiquette.

Interesting how, on the other side, Russia traded a 'drug smuggler' for a 'computer programmer'.
Note that BOTH versions are roughly equivalent
