Chinese state-sponsored hackers breached the U.S. Treasury Department's computer security guardrails this month and stole documents in what Treasury called a "major incident," according to a letter to lawmakers that Treasury officials provided to Reuters on Monday.

You know the CCP is jailing Marxist Beidai students who are protesting worker conditions.

But if they point out in these leaks how the US Treasury is still bailing out Wall Street and supporting oligarchic capital I suppose they are doing good work.

Not to worry. The Donald will fix this too with a snap of his fingers when he takes office. He'll just hand over everything.

I hope we still have an FBI to deal with such things on Jan. 20th.

Nah, he'll just demand that all the major agencies change their master password to "KingDonald4Eva"

As we all know the US State department disinformation has a track record of promoting manipulative narratives. You have got to feel sorry for the departing administration to NOT HAVE achieved anything relevant in the last 4 years, apart from a dozens wars around the globe

China clearly has some smart people. They just need to direct their talents to suitable tasks.

For instance, if they could hack Musk's X account (and his alter ego Adrian) and post dozens of pro-democracy, uber-liberal posts, then scramble his password so he couldn't get back in to refute it... that would be a worthwhile use of those skills.

Probably a few undergraduates up to mischief, posing as others, not that far away. Anyone would fall for it.

"Chinese state-sponsored hackers"... hahahaha! ok. I should try this excuse next time something goes wrong at my company.

As we all know the US State department disinformation has a track record of promoting manipulative narratives.

Nothing manipulated about revealing Chinese espionage.

-2 ( +4 / -6 )

It's really amounts to a flimsy allegation with no actual evidence provided.

Notice how there is a contractor involved.

There is more to this story than meets the eye.

No/lack of, media report does not mean non thing happens/takes place. Who are you kidding? The American runs the biggest spy/hacking/etc agencies, doing all sorts of unsavory stuffs around the world.

So China'c counter surveillance is very top notch,

Counter surveillance is not conducted in a foreign adversary's system.

-1 ( +4 / -5 )

The USA took to China first with stationing military choke points through Asia. So yes Counter surveillance that how it works, You spy on me and I will spy you and I will make sure you know we can. Way to China.

What ever this Mambo Jumbo means for the average American it is bad news for everyone.

The general public not just in the USA but the rest of the world have struggling with Hackers, Scammers, Digital Thieves, for the past 10 years or so and it's getting too sophisticated for the average citizen to combat or even comprehend.

The so called tech giants can't protect us simply because it is overwhelming.

One of the latest scams I encountered is an E Mail for a FAKE Microsoft support Team saying " this is the one time 6 digit pin number you requested ( Which I did Not ) please do not share this number with anyone, if you have any trouble signing into your EMail account follow the link below.

If I was to try to log into my E Mail account and of course it wont work then I will automatically think about following that link which will ask for my E mail address and the password and that's all the Hacker needed to take over my E Mail account.

BE CAREFULL PEOPLE, Always double check, block then delete these Scums before they you follow their instructions.

I was very luck because I was NOT trying to access my E Mail at the time this fake mail appeared, but if I was it would have been MUCH WORSE.

t's really amounts to a flimsy allegation with no actual evidence provided.

Best not to provide the evidence then being found out that you are actually manipulating the narrative.

We all remember that, don’t we?

Counter surveillance is not conducted in a foreign adversary's system.

Says the ultimate American patriot.

We all remember the scandal that broke in early June 2013, right? The US National Security Agency (NSA) was collecting the telephone records of tens of millions of Americans and spying all his allies. EU office bugged, embassies, and so on. After fleeing to Hong Kong, Edward Snowden revealed the NSA had led more than 61,000 hacking operations worldwide, including many in mainland China.

Like I've been sayig China has already been carrying out a war against the United States in every which way possible other than actual shooting. And the 50cent army flooding the net everywhere denying it.

Asian countries just want to trade, to improve its people life. Unlike western countries, history, colonization, robbing, plundering, etc. First, if America remove all the choke points it placed around the EAST Asia, and China continues to do what it is currently doing? Then perhaps, we can beat the drums about it being aggressive, etc.

You can be stupid and waste you time and money by debating who right or who is wrong. The smart people are not waiting around to see the outcome they seeing the digital Yuan looking very ripe for investing.

-2 ( +3 / -5 )

The anti-Beijing hysteria is clearly being led by the United States which is not concerned that China will attack other countries, but is worried that its world hegemony is being challenged.

By the looks of it, with the latest shipment of US weapons to Ukraine and Israel, you can buy more stuff at the Christmas sale, or check that expensive holiday. Just make sure don’t tell people where the money comes from, they might not have the same ethics and morals as you do :)

At 1% of gdp, I am not invested in anything military related at all.

Full of SomethingToday 04:58 pm JST

That infamous percentage (perhaps you forgot to add another zero) is pretty unrealistic since just yesterday SIPRI told us that “the 41 companies in the Top 100 based in the United States recorded arms revenues of $317 billion, half the total arms revenues of the Top 100 and 2.5 per cent more than in 2022. Since 2018, the top five companies in the Top 100 have all been based in the USA”.

Literally nothing inconsistent with that being 1% of US gdp.

Here we are again debunking the US administration’s manipulation of narrative

We can repeat the facts as many times as are necessary.

A new reminder towards the end of 2024. The rise of China and its role in global capitalism have challenged the economic dominance of the west, and shattered the convenient notion that the market necessarily brings freedom. To create the impression that problems of political oppression or technological abuse are uniquely Chinese is to refuse knowledge of the complexity of governance, as well as of humanity.

The only risk (financial or military) that we face from China is if we continue as a proxy for the US in its endless wars
