These drug-smugglers need to get better at lying, give her the Singapore treatment.

Posted in: Bear killed after 2 days in Akita supermarket See in context

Having lived in rural mountain towns in Alberta for 6 years and dealing with bears almost daily in summer, the decision to kill the bear makes some sense. The animal had at this point become to comfortable in urban surroundings, meaning getting it to acclimatize back into the mountains is nearly impossible if the bear has been gaining access to food in urban areas for an substantial length of time. These aren't deer, they are bears.

Its the same old story, overworked and under loved equals an empty household and a lack of family. Who could or would want to bring a child into that? Until things change and young professionals are allowed to live their lives again, the cycle will only continue.

Time for back to back titles. Really hope he continues recovery on the shoulder over the break between seasons.

Lived in Australia for 25 years, rule of thumb when it comes to the government. Never chalk up to evil what can just as easily be chalked up to stupidity.

Finally a good idea. Hopefully they cut through all the logistics and nightmare paperwork so that this is in-place before the next Nankai megathrust.

Posted in: Rising pit bull attacks in Japan put spotlight on negligent owners See in context

I've owned a half dozen dogs over the years with breeds from Australian Cattle Dog, to Irish Springers to Golden Retrievers. They're are some absolutely abysmal owners out there, but it absolutely is the breed too. You can't untrain instinct. That would be like trying to untrain bird not to fly. They were born and bred to fight, it's in their DNA.

Posted in: 7-Eleven owner considers going private to avoid foreign buyout: reports See in context

Bold move, I sincerely hope it works. I lived in Canada for a decade and I'd rather eat roadkill than ANYTHING served at Circle K. The quality control and management techniques of Circle K in Canada are beyond pathetic. It would absolutely be a loss for Japan's kombini industry to allow these guys a massive foothold into the country.

Must feel amazing to know you have an entire nation and people who aren't even interested in your sport hoping and praying that you accomplish the greatest achievement of it. Well done, this is only the beginning.

Posted in: Who do you think would be better for Japan as the next U.S. president? See in context

Harris is a empty-vessel puppet that will do whatever her handlers tell her and Trump is an unabashed sociopath with a god complex. Neither are good options for Japan.

I'm sure I'm not the only person who did a double-take when they read the scumbags name.

Posted in: Do you think that a man giving up his seat on a bus or train to a woman, holding a door open for her or holding her chair as she sits down is outmoded? See in context

I was raised with 2 sisters and a large family of aunts on both sides. There are just somethings you do, be it holding doors open, opening doors for car passengers, putting the seat down or walking on the side of the footpath that is closest to the road.

It's become subconscious habit at this point, I don't think I could unlearn it if I tried . I'll be making sure my son does these too.

Posted in: Japan urges restraint as Israel begins ground operation in Lebanon See in context

Yeah, because Israel TOTALLY listens to other countries requests when they conduct military operations. This the definitive cry-bully nation of the world with America running as their security guard. They'd get us all killed and still play the victim.

Posted in: Ex-defense chief Ishiba elected Japan ruling party leader See in context

The good is not backing down from the promises made on the JSDF and re-examining the positions with the US regarding military alignments.

The bad is the income tax increases, consumption tax is already at 10% now and wages have barely budged in that time frame so how the solution of increasing taxes on those low wages is mind boggling.

You want everyone to start having families again, yet you continue to make it unaffordable to do so! It's the same old tired dance that makes you pull your hair out.

Posted in: Japan ruling party leadership race begins with record 9 candidates See in context

If just one of them were to actually focus on the aging crisis and take some proactive steps like increasing childcare options and programs as well as introducing income tax rate deductions based on how many children there are per household, that candidate would win in a landslide. You want the next generation to take back the countryside and revitalize the nation? Make favorable conditions for the parents of that next generation to exist and thrive in it's earliest and most important years.

Posted in: Kamikawa joins LDP leadership race; says she will build a new Japan See in context

Saying a whole bunch of words without saying anything. What exactly is she implying by a "New Japan"? I pray she doesn't intend on introducing all the new policies in the west that are ruining those countries because of something equally as vague like "it's the right thing to do/because it's current year!"
