Having lived in rural mountain towns in Alberta for 6 years and dealing with bears almost daily in summer, the decision to kill the bear makes some sense. I've owned a half dozen dogs over the years with breeds from Australian Cattle Dog, to Irish Springers to Golden Retrievers.
