In northern Gaza, an Israeli strike on a home sheltering displaced people. . .
Israel's military said that it targeted a site where militants were operating, without providing evidence. It said the details of the strike were under review.
Israel's calling card.
Bomb a school, shelter, hospital.
A majority of the dead are women and children.
Claim they were targeting militants.
Provide no evidence.
Say they are investigating the matter.

Is the fact that some of the children were deaf and mute or that one had autism of significance to the story? I don't understand why these random details were included, especially in the headline. Is it a clumsy attempt to heighten readers' sense of pathos or does it have some greater salience? Is it not tragedy enough that innocent children were killed?
I agree but if it were Israeli children you would know their names, their hopes and aspirations. They would seem like actual human beings with lives and ourpose. Arab children killed by Israel are merely a statistic.
Or in the case of Palestinians not even a statistic since JT doesn't even bother reporting the number of Palestinians Israel kills on a daily basis.
Today it was 40.

Tokyo Electric Power (Tepco) officials rejected "unrealistic" estimates made in a 2008 internal report that the plant could be threatened by a tsunami of up to 10.2 metres, Kyodo news agency reported.

Some of the Israel related news deemed not worthy of reporting by JT.
Israel must immediately address the “catastrophic humanitarian situation” in Gaza, the US envoy to the UN has warned, as the deadline approaches to improve the flow of aid or face cuts to American military assistance. The US has given its ally until 12 November to "surge" all assistance, with a minimum of 350 lorries entering Gaza daily. But the UN says only 10% of that number have crossed each day on average since then.
On Tuesday Israel leveled a 5 story in Beit Lahia, Gaza killing over 90 Palestinians.State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said the US was "deeply concerned by the loss of civilian life in this incident. This was a horrifying incident with a horrifying result".
A United Nations Commission of Inquiry report concluded "The actions of Israel violate international humanitarian law and the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination, and they are in stark contravention of the International Court of Justice advisory opinion of July 2024.""The Commission finds that Israel has implemented a concerted policy to destroy the health-care system of Gaza. Israeli security forces have deliberately killed, wounded, arrested, detained, mistreated and tortured medical personnel and targeted medical vehicles, constituting the war crimes of wilful killing and mistreatment and the crime against humanity of extermination. Israeli authorities carried out such acts."

Keep in mind that „Gaza’s Health Ministry“ means Hamas. And I am sure he claims that only women and children were killed, and not any Hamas terrorists.
I am not saying that there are no innocent deaths here. But taking Hamas figures at face value is really a bit naive. - Zaphod
"The (Gaza) health ministry's casualty reports have received significant attention during the course of the Gaza–Israel conflict. Its numbers have historically been considered reliable by the United Nations, the World Health Organization, and Human Rights Watch. In relation to the Israel-Hamas war, two papers published in The Lancet journal did not find evidence of inflation or fabrication of Palestinian casualty numbers."
Investigations into casualty reports in past conflicts have found that Gaza's health ministry numbers differ within a margin of 4% from other independent studies.
Even the IDF use Gaza's numbers internally as they are based on an identification registry created by Israel.

I'm not sure why Israel is even allowed to be a member of the United Nations. They have such open disdain for the UN and all forms of international law.
At the beginning of October Netanyahu stood in the halls of the UN and called it a "swamp of antisemitic bile". Israel has been attacking its peace keeping forces in Lebanon, its killed hundreds of UN aid workers in Gaza and destroyed UN schools and hospitals, it rejects each and every resolution brought against it calling for the end of its illegal occupation of East Jerusalem, Gaza, the West Bank and the Golan heights and its ongoing illegal annexation of Palestinian land.
Israel deserves no place in international rules bases order.

At the present moment there are two nations on the land: The Palestinian Arabs and the Israeli Jews. Any solution must take into account the needs and the rights of these two nations. - NB
From a rational perspective when attempting to establish a secure and safe state would it be better to base sovereignty and borders on present demographics and populations or to instead attempt to revert the region back to how it existed in the bronze age?
For sure anti-semitism existed to some degree in the Arab world just as any minority has lived as second class citizens throughout history. But look back through history at major examples of anti-semitism and they're almost all European. The holocaust, the pale of settlement, blood libels and so forth.
Relatively speaking Jews in the Middle East and the Arab world were subject to far less persecution than those in Europe. As demonstrated by the fact that when political Zionism first started to form in the mid/late 1800's it was as a response to European anti-semitism and proposed moving TO the Middle East and not away from it. Just look back at the trivelations of Europe's Ashkenazi and Sephardic Jews vs the Middle East's Mizrahi Jews.
Anti-semitism in the Arab world largely rose as a response to the Zionist project to turn a part of the region overwhelmingly non-Jewish into a Jewish state. Further argument that Zionism makes Jews around the world less safe and not safer.
I've already gone on a lot but I want to add the mainstream of Palestinian nationalism is secular in nature. Placing national liberation above religious divisions. Some of Palestine's foremost nationalists were and are in fact Christian.
Meanwhile Israel defines itself as a "Jewish state for Jewish" as stated in its nation state law. As such Israel is not a state of its people but a state built exclusively for only one group of its population. In other words an enthnostate. This means there are 2 natural outcomes. Either Israel is an apartheid state or it must ethnically cleanse its population to maintain its Jewishness.

The Israeli nation extended its hand three times to the Palestinian nation. . .
“after the formation of a large army in the wake of the establishment of the state, we will abolish partition and expand to the whole of Palestine “ - David Ben-Gurion
“If I were an Arab leader, I would never sign an agreement with Israel. It is normal; we have taken their country. It is true God promised it to us, but how could that interest them? Our God is not theirs. There has been Anti-Semitism, the Nazis, Hitler, Auschwitz, but was that their fault? They see but one thing: we have come and we have stolen their country. Why would they accept that?” - David Ben-Gurion
“Let us not ignore the truth among ourselves … politically we are the aggressors and they defend themselves… The country is theirs, because they inhabit it, whereas we want to come here and settle down, and in their view we want to take away from them their country. …" David Ben-Gurion
"We came here to a country that was populated by Arabs and we are building here a Hebrew, a Jewish state; instead of the Arab villages, Jewish villages were established. You even do not know the names of those villages, and I do not blame you because these villages no longer exist. There is not a single Jewish settlement that was not established in the place of a former Arab Village." Moshe Dayan
The pre-state Yishuv and early Israeli state leaders had a much more clear headed and honest view of what the Zionist project entailed. The self-righteous narratives that get propagated these days are quite frankly embarrasing.

During his meeting with Netanyahu, Blinken underscored the need for a dramatic increase in the amount of humanitarian aid reaching Gaza,
From Secretary Blinken and Secretary Austin's statement last week.
"For Israel to continue qualifying for foreign military financing, the level of aid getting into Gaza must increase to at least 350 trucks a day... Israel has 30 days to respond."
UNRWA says an average of 13 food trucks a day have entered Gaza in the last week. Is this another "red line" for Israel to dance across and humiliate its biggest supporter? Israeli generals estimate that it'd have to halt its assault on Gaza within 6 days without US military support. And that was before Israel's assault on Lebanon began.

In 1996, Israeli artillery shelling on a United Nations compound housing hundreds of displaced people in Qana killed at least 100 civilians and wounded scores more people, including four U.N. peacekeepers. During the 2006 war, an Israeli strike on a residential building killed nearly three dozen people, a third of them children. Israel said at the time that it struck a Hezbollah rocket launcher behind the building.
These events are known as the first and second Qana massacres. The latest being the third.
But just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the history of Israeli war crimes commited in Lebanon. For example Israel's role in the Sabra and Shatila massacres.

I think this really gets to the heart of the conflict. It's the reason Israel won't end its illegal occupation of Palestine. Israel considers itself a work in progress. It's not happy with its internationally recognised borders so it practices, expansion and domination under the guise of "self defence".
