Average GLOBAL temperature rises, that is in short what is Global Warming. That warming is not equialy distributed, and what is does is disrupt the equilibrium of the global climate system (is not a software nor a machine for those who have hard time with words).

This disequilibrium, makes that in some areas "bubbles" of high temperatures and making the cold currents of the poles to go way out of their current state.

This is again in short what is happening right now in Japan (high temperatures) and in South Korea (low temperatures).

That is in fact a proof that of climate change (global warming).... but of course if you look only locally or spot you will get just that small picture out of context.

The Global weather system is that "GLOBAL" extreem climate in one place will affect the entire system but not in the same way because there are many different local climate systems, geological conditions, seasons, etc.

...but for some, even suffering the consecuences of climate change and yet are not able to understand... just like those hypotetical frogs in boiling water.

Just as an addendum... I make a quick serach and there is even a legal therm for this type of cases

"Dyadic death"...

"In dyadic deaths, a second victim acts in consort with, is associated with, or is killed by a person who, contemporaneous with the first death, then suicides. Dyadic deaths thus include both homicide-suicides and suicide pacts. "

and here some examples in the US.

https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0015736885723900

Since the definition of the Dyadic death, states the second death also includes "homicide" it means some deahts are considered a criminal case.

For this particular case, it may be "unitentional manslaughter"

But now with Co-President Musk... the US will also have a CoPOTUS and a Hail to the cochief?

It amazes me how so many people does not know that Post-mortem trials and judicial processing is a common practice in many countries....

Before you get amazed by the how "stupid" the Japan is you may check your country penal and judicial codes.

So... the Korean governmetn canceled in the last minute and it is only the Japanese side fault??

Sorry but that is not how coordination of an event goes. If the Korean side had their issues they should have announced the cancelation of the event, or at least that Korea will not participate a week before the event, at least 5 days before and not the day before.

As any incident, sure there is fault in both sides but, Korea by canceling their participation in the last minute is the one with most fault.

Don't know.. but the some of the criticism given by the author are kind of outdated...

True is that the great majority of crypto are scams or shaddy, and that many (including Bitcoin) are still used in the black market.

But the biggest and strongest crypto currencies are regulation complied with many governments, working with banking and financial institutions.

But the biggest criticism I give to this article is the questioning of crypto being an "ethical investment", of course is not. But so is ANY monetary investment with aims to profit...

You should ask "investment is ethical"?... and probalby the awnser is in most cases "NO".

@dagon

now are you profiling me because of my name?...

Do you know what was the composition of korean and japanese workers in those mines? Yes Koreans were forced labored but so did several Japanese too.

And a slight difference between Auschwitz-Birkenau and Sado mines, Auschwitz was a death camp the industrialization of killing. Sado mines were the willingful nigletness of producing.

Both cases a lot of people died but in one it was really producing something and the killing was by far not the main objective.

Those people who gave their lives not willingly, but those efforts regardless made a contribution. I fail to see why you are not allow to regret that happened and at the same time be grateful for their unwilling sacrifice.

Posted in: What do you think of airline food? Has it improved much over the past few years? See in context

@SDCA

Now, i have to tell you that not all onboard services are the same.

Big airlines like United, Luftthansa, JAL, Cathy, Emirates, ANA, British, Air France, etc., have a good to fairly decent cental kitchens in each major airports, if not owned by them they have subsidiearies or contracting good quality "airline cathering services".

But there are few that don't have these types of onsite kitchens neither have contracts with cathering services with airport facilities.

So there are some airlines that use cathering services that made their food elsewhere and thus they may use preservatives and stuff like that.

Sadly American Airlines is one of those, also middle to small airlines usually don't have that kind of facilities available.

Posted in: 7-Eleven owner considers going private to avoid foreign buyout: reports See in context

People whould ask why the Couche wants to buy 7 elven... they are not going to bring a new service, they are not going to be able to take the 7 eleven quaility to Canda or the US, at least not in the shor - middle term.

So why? because they want to buy it and have a foot hold in Japan and asia without the need to do the heavy lifting. Considering that the Canadians have the convininece store chain Cirkle K.

They just want to buy it because they are lazy to do the job and they see a cheap good product to buy it.

To Itohchu and Itoh family they investted a lot in this brand, finally adquiring it from the US original owners, ofcourse they will want to keep it.. As any of us will do what ever to keep your pet project that you put effort, love and money to make it growth.

The dumb idea of "japan fovernmetn to buy it"... is so dumb that i needed to make it clear that is dumb

@wokiko68

They are rejecting the offer. The fear is that, since they rejected it, the Canadian compnay can go for hostile takeover... basically buy out stock of 7&i and be the majority share holder.

So the logical option to avoid this, is to take the shares off the market, is a fairly common practice, despite someone shouting "japanese capitalisim" and other nonesense

Posted in: What do you think of airline food? Has it improved much over the past few years? See in context

As a person that is loosely involved in that area... the onboard food service in general has being in constant improovement.

In general the prepared meals are healthier that they were 20 years ago and the usage of preservatives and chemicals are non existent (sorry if i am contradicting someone, but that is the reality), even the use of salt in the meals has reduced.

Ofcourse there are exceptions and if you are in economy class, even if the foods is good, the overall experience (lettle room to move, the person next to you bumping, all food in the same small place, visually not very apealing) that will make your food experience bad.

So food quality is above average good (general terms) but the overall "eating on board" is still a minus for economy class.

For the uninformed... cocaine and MDMA market is exclusive market of Mafia in Japan, not only Yakuza but the Chinese and Philipine mafias too.

Reason the police is fixed in the Olympus CEO, any information he has it probably give them lead to the routes, the hows and the whos are commercializing this stuff.

Also, if they got a lead that the CEO was purchasing drugs, the one that give them the lead is also under investigation. What the police is doing is to washout not only the supliers but the "clients" too.

"...The 78-year-old Republican tycoon and convicted felon, has pledged to launch..."

We have to be accurate when describing the Presindent of the US, specially if it is the FIRST time in History
