Between the "I-me-mine" generation (Baby boomers) and the "Me-meme" generation (Millenials) we have been basically forgotten and left to our luck....even now, our generation is expected to take care of the boomers and pay tuition and housing of Millenials...

Income increase?, yes for the millenials but not for Xers.... better medical and social security, yes for the boomers but not for the Xers....

Tyler Durden said "Remember this. The people you're trying to step on, we're everyone you depend on. We're the people who do your laundry and cook your food and serve your dinner. We make your bed. We guard you while you're asleep. We drive the ambulances. We direct your call. We are cooks and taxi drivers and we know everything about you. We process your insurance claims and credit card charges. We control every part of your life.

We are the middle children of history, raised by television to believe that someday we'll be millionaires and movie stars and rock stars, but we won't. And we're just learning this fact. So don't **** with us.”

You know that emperor and the empress, have a long legacy in agriculture, from planting to harvesting rice and other vegetables, as well as rasing of birds (domestic and wild).

The Akishinomiya house also have yearly activities related to agriculture and environmental protection.

These guys should know better. When it comes to poaching you stick to creatures in the sea, like cutting off shark fins for soup.

Around 90% of "fukahire" consumed in Japan come from sharks fished in Kesennuma. Those sharks mix catch from tuna fishing.

The sharks that are catched are consumed in its entirety (minus those organs that cannot be eaten).

The rest 10% of consume "fukahire" is imported from China... usually from sharks catched in Peruvian shores.

So for the great majority of what is consumed in Japan, it is catched in Japan, and it is consumed in its entirety as any other fish.

...In my particular case... the procedure is as follows

1) Have a mild anciaty attack

2) Get angry at myself for forgetting it.

3) Pray to the gods that my luck does not suck

4) Go to the train statiion office and report that I forget my belongings on the train... feeling extreemly shameful and at the same time anger at myself mixed with some panic and fear for the possiblity it is lost/stolen.

5) Wait for my forgotten stuff to be picked up wait it to come back and reclaim it and/or go to the station where it was picked up/stored.... (again feeling a lot of shame and anger)

6) Get it back thanking to every JR personnel involved and keep nagging myself for being so careless.

My question is... how the heck these people got hold of so many tusks???

I suppose the police is digging for the smuggling route and the sumugglers.... and the buyers, although the profile of those should be easy, 60 to 80 yo people and/or new rich/gang related airheads

I don't know what is the problem... you buy a sandwich to eat it either in your house or office... if you eat it outside, still you will eventually return to your house/office (or hotel room)... where usually there are bins to dispose of trash.

I do it here in Japan, I did it when I was in Panama, Ecuador, Pakistan, Kenya and Germany... where is the trouble???

What is the empire family?

sorry I ment "imperial family"... you have to excuse me... sometimes when you manage 4 languages diction, spelling and even gramatical errors tend to happen, I am not perfect nor put so much effort in double checking comments I make in here.

You may say I should have... but I don't see that being so much necessary.

@Chico3

Well if you are going to be concerned about "your tax money" being well used... Princess Kako should be doing all she is doing to justify what "your tax money" have been paying from long ago... ever since her birth, her education and eerything. By saying this I apologize for the improper way to address this issue...

If anything she, and again the entire imperial family, have been raised as elite diplomats from the cradle not to mention their profession capacitation.

As part of the imperial family, she is a symbol of Japan, she represents Japan... and in a particualr way she is Japan. Princes Kako of Akishino is her royal title / diplomatic title

@Wasabi

And what kind of education and preparation since childhood do you think the empire family gets?

There are very few people that have that kind of high degree of education and capacity to do it.

By the way, when you hear that a Secretary/Minister of XXX visit a country he/she does not come along... usually even if it is a low ranking official in an unoficial/undisclode visit to a country, that person is acompanied by at leas 3 people.

In case of a official visit, again for a low rankig official, there are no less than 8 people accompany him/her.

Why I know this? becasue I have been involved in that kind of job in the past

Like this... he is so anti "capitalist and pro environment"... but his copany goes "make a flask make a cup.. yippie MONEY!!!"....

Miyazaki's disliking of capitalism is like a fish saying it does not like water....

The activities of the Princes and the entire imperial family overseas function perfectly as diplomatic activities, with a none political focus that in the long term serves the entire country of Japan in the international arena, specifically regarding soft power.

So Princes Kako visit to Brazil is very well justified.

Posted in: Top court rejects claim dual nationality ban is unconstitutional See in context

@ Mr Kipling

You should be aware that if you children were born outside of Japan, they will be require to "choose" their nationality when reach 20 years of age. If they were born in Japan, they are automatically considered Japanse, but if they where born outside they will be ask to turn a certification of renouncement of the other nationality....

I know this stuff because, me and my siblings pass trough that. I was born in Japan so no issue there. My siblings where required to present a citizenship renouncemnet for the other nationality they hold.

I said "hold" because, we are from a country where the nationality is "irrenounsible, irrevocable and unstipable" not even by commiting act of balant treason towards that country.

What happen to my siblings was, that they went to the embassy/ministry of internal affairs for a refferal letter of renouncing their nationality since they chosed to be Japan Natiolas. The Ministry/embassy emitted an official letter so the procedure towards the Japanese government goes forward.

The thing is that the said letters were legally issued and official, but as far as the country that issue them that letter had no power given that, as I said before, the constitution of that country stipulated that the nationality cannot be renounced nor stripped.

I don't know for UK thouhg.... so you should look it up.

@nandakandamanda

Rice, as any other agri product, dehydrates over time and the oils that rice has also evaporates and/or oxidates.

Due to water/oil evaporation nutrienst that rice have also escapes and the sugar content of rice also goes rancid over time.

Additionaly, due to oil oxydation this causes changes in the smell of the rice.

This proces is relatevely slow, but it is very noticible after 5 years. Even in good storage conditions that is unnavoildable.

Instead of playing political merry-go-round why doesn't the government take some concrete action towards regulating the price of rice so that market speculation can never harm the population like this again?

As far as I know, the govenment is considering actions for middle and long term... still first is to try to solve the problem at hand, and thus the dispatch of rice.

The rice price hike is due to many issues, mainly in my opinion the long lasted "stupid" regulation to control the rice production basically paying farmers to not to produce rice, and that there are actors (JA and middle man) hording rice for speculatory means.

There may be also, issues such as inflation and a lack logistic personnel.

Either of those matters cannot be solve inmediatly or easily.

Posted in: Top court rejects claim dual nationality ban is unconstitutional See in context

Again appartenly most comments in here did not read the article or have a faulty comprehension of the English language....

The article says:

the woman acquired U.S. citizenship in 2004.

1) Not holding a UK nationality... but US.

2) Acquiring a citizenship means, that person applied for it (so she didn't born US citizen).

3) The only way for the Japanese government (or any other govenrment) to know if someone has two nationalitis or passports is the person declares it.

4) Holding dual (or triple) nationality has not being a major issue since up to now, those who have a dual nationality kept quiet about it, choose one or another, or have no way to renounce one nationality even if they want to.

I agree that it should be considered a revision of citizenship.

But based on people commenting here, there are almost no people who wants the Japanese citizenship... so it is a non issue??

Instand noodles come from Taiwan, not Japan. But Japan is forgiven, as when one is not creative one must steal.

Nope... the food that inspired by Yi mein (a Cantonese traditional noodle dish with about 400 years history)

But Yi mein and Instant Noodles are prepared different, the production processess, consumption ingredients are different.

If you say Yi mein is the same as instant noodles, you may well say calculators are the same as a smarphone

Posted in: Saitama women arrested for dueling See in context

That is called "taiman" a common practice to settle things mainly among gang members... but not limited to, in high school is fairly common.

Basic rule in a "Taiman" is that the only ones that will fight is the chanllenger and the challengee, but if a third person intervines in the fight the side that interviene is set as the looser (and usually ends up in a gang fight). But is rare to hear that a third person intervines in a Taiman.

The only way that the fight ends is if the opponets gives up, goes nomb or looses consiusness (Fight Club style), but there are some occasions that a third party could plead for the fight to end (the looser in this case will be the whom the third party is plaeding for).

Even if among adults, there is a fairly high chance that if you ask for a taiman the opponent may accept it. But as adults and responsible memebers of a community usually that kind of thing tend to be set by talking or just breaked up by people around.

But don't think you can go around asking for a duel (taiman) to any body... that is just stupid behaviour.

To challenge for a taiman, there has to be a fairly good background for the animosity.

And usually, when you call for a taiman, it should be on private grounds... if you are in public area or outside the police will come. But if you still are going to fight outside, you should try to end the fight in less than 10 minutes more than that will risk for the police to come, and police could come in less than 5 min., so outside avoid outside fighting as possible.
