In Japan it is far more common to kill the child than to use the baby hatch. Life is valued differently. They're studying the implementation in Tokyo for at least 20 years, with nothing being done. Also the punishment for the mothers is almost symbolic (2-3 years), showing a societal acceptance for the kill.
The "German system" is actually many hundreds of years old and European, as many large churches or monasteries would have it, with a small bell to ring and alert.

If you have never held a racket and/or can't serve a decent overhead shot, please don't comment negatively. As you really have no idea what you're talking about. What The Djoker is doing right now is called writing history. Think of it as a huge privilege to be in the same generation with him (and Federer, Nadal) and be able to watch him live for yet one more tournament.

Well, the legal lema here is - where do we draw the line as a society? He wanted her to see his butt in a thong, so he exposed it to her while still being technically dressed, getting himself arrested. What if he'd wanted her to see his flexed biceps instead of his gluteus, would that have caused an arrest and why not? None are considered indecent under the Japanese law.

girl_in_tokyo - You're on a very slippery path here. Remember that what's good for the goose is good for the gander. He's not flashing his genitals at her and in other context there's nothing wrong with men wearing loinclothes. Yes, it's deviant and strange, but remember that in other countries women showing their faces is considered deviant. So you either want equality and accept that if a girl can flash her underwear at an arab guy while walking up the stairs without getting arrested so should this guy be able to do the same.

So at a festival then other day I was proudly wearing my fundoushi (FUN-doushi ;) ) buttcheeks in plain view. The same as hundreds other men. Women didn't seem to mind, quite the opposite, some drunk ones seemed to enjoy it more than normally. Was that an arrestable offense too?

Who buys CDs? You're American, right? The center of capitalism, but its people are slowly deprived of owning a property there. You can't buy software, you can't buy movies and you can't buy music. All you do is rent it and you never own it. Soon to be applied to everything else you "own" - cars, homes, etc.

And as we're on this topic:
just because of their ethnic origin.
I have seen members of a Chinese company who just purchased a Japanese brand (both big, famous names in the electronics business), boasting about how they've shown them who is the strongest, practically completely humiliating the company they just saved themselves out of bankruptcy.
I can see how traditional sake brewers are too proud of their heritage to never allow it to happen. Better to go out in silence than to suffer humiliation, IMHO.

I've heard Americans way before I could see them, in a place where keeping quiet was obviously the norm.
I've seen Chinese by the bus loads in Akiba, fighting among themselves over who could buy that last discounted item - half of Akiba's Kanda side shops are now specialised on Chinese tourists and the sales are booming. The other half, most charming RadioShop, etc. are on the verge of disappearing.
Missing the good old COVID days.

Japan is currently both aged and overpopulated and that's the reason it can't sustain the society into an improved birth rate. When was the last time you saw someone giving up his or her seat to a pregnant lady, despite the pendant she's wearing informing everyone about? Almost never? Yes, extrapolate that to the rest of the child bearing and rearing period, and that's about the help you'll ever get.

I think this can be a highly effective measure. First - it's clear why it has no tip - so that it can't be grabbed and pulled. Then, I bet the ribs (skeleton) and handle are made extremely solidly, so it can't easily be collapsed. It is quite difficult to attack with a knife somebody behind an umbrella.
You'd be surprised how effective J-Police can be at self defense and protecting lives of both the perpetrators and the victims. Many are black-belts in the very violent "police-style" variants of kendo, judo or boujutsu (stick fighting), where unconventional attacks (using limbs, etc) are permitted, to offer a more realistic training opportunities.
Do they plan to train the train ;) operators in self defense using this umbrella?

This year, at least in some Kanto-country-side, the rice crops are much above the average. I know this because guess what? I went and talked to some producers, right in their nice rice field. The "shortage" was mostly a B-grade media (think influencer level) fed frenzy. Absolutely zero value to it.

I live in rural Japan. I cried the other day seeing an old lady, permanently bent in half due to a life of working the fields carrying a very heavy box of carrots. Those living in the city have no idea how old are the people producing our food, how tough and badly paid such work is and how little help they get. The country is wasting trillions in meaningless pork barrel projects, leaving it's inaka to survive on 2000 jpy per day of hard work.
